I answered "depends" but I think this needs to be expanded on somewhat.
Pre-sex interviews seem reasonable.
Giving loud directions or making social comments during the sex is fucking stupid and amateurish. Girls engaging such conversation - fucking stupid and amateurish.
In real life, the director yells "CUT!", explains what he wants and re-shoots, which I wish more directors would do when the actors are not following direction. Most directors seem to go with it cause it's "Gonzo" but they seem to think that means anarchy and no direction, yet, as we tend to notice, it is overall a formulaic sequence.
Scott Hancock whispered to the girls so it wasn't all that intrusive but some director yelling "FUCK HER FACE!" (PornPros shoot of Gracie Glam w/Chris Strokes & Eric John - this director, whoever he is ALWAYS did that which would just ruin the scene and piss me off).
I just wish they would be professional about it.

I have to admit to liking it. I find it adds an element of realism.

It irks me and I find it unprofessional, unless it's an interview video.

The person operating the camera does just that, or should. Only in porn does the issue of the camera operator talking come up. It's not like we need Mr. Haney of Green Acres providing us a multitude of services -- even if he lived in Hooterville.
Or, to put it another way, if Frank Zappa could shut up and play his guitar ...

I don't mind if it's near the beginning or end of a scene, or at a pause (such as when a girl's catching her breath etc) - basically so long as it doesn't interrupt the action. And also only when the cameraman has something worthwhile (witty or whatever) to say.
For me cameramen talking has ruined a few videos, but it's also made some videos great as it can often bring out the model's personality.
So, yeah... it depends.

I don't think viewers realllly wanna know how I feel about this insidious practice.
Apart from gettin' down-an-dirty I'll spare you another rant by jus' saying It not only kills the scene, it freekin' tortures it.

It's all right in the interview part but they really need to shut up during the sex part. Maybe it's me or I don't pay attention but I don't hear much of this now. Mind you there is so little new porn being made that I care to see than maybe I'm not a member of sites that are guilty of this.

Exploitedteens.com - if you want a prime example of why camera guys need to shut up.
