If you count only over-the-air-or-cable TV when it is shown almost NONE.
I do DVR few shows including the news so I can fast forward through the boring parts & commercials (about 80% I would estimate). Otherwise Netflix or DVD's or HBO stuff I've DVR'd makes up my TV watching for a few hours in the evening.

For 'live' TV, none. But I PVR a bit and that allows me to skip ads.

My answer is different now then it was in the last few years because we're finally seeing less reality TV and more actual drama. I'd say that I watch at least one new show per day.

Probably 1 - 2 hours per day when averaged over the week, most of it catching up on the dvr except for sports.

TV in the US is a huge ripoff if you pay for it because you're just paying them to shove idiotic ads at you between programs that are mostly of a juvenile mentality. There are a few good things here and there, just as a desert might have an oasis every few hundred km or so.
Might as well have your intelligence bypassed as you are about to watch something that really interests you.
