Of course it isn't. Why would any performer want to change her name every few weeks when word of mouth is an integral part of how their career grows.
I know that it's significantly harder to find all the scenes of Eastern European performers because they have so many different names that it's next to impossible to find them all without doing some serious research. You just have to look at North American performers to see that having only one name is better for a long term career.

There are obvious advantages to the sites - they can pretend that the girl is new, if they change nationality then they might get a few members from that country if people think there are local girls on the site, they can try to maintain an air of exclusivity by having almost all unique names, and they can try to separate themselves from the girls' escort names. Given that so many european porn perfomers are really escorts who just do porn as a loss leader, I am surprised they put up wth it.
I really can't see any advantage to the girl in using a different name on some sites - they don't use their real names anyway.

Some models may have used their "real" names when they were too naive or thought the gig was a one time thing and changed it when they decided to get more involved. Others may have accidentally picked a name that could be confused with someone else.
But most name changes are done by the porn producers for the reasons stated by pat and Parsnip.
BTW, not the poll question but my pet peeve is with the sites that name their models only by a first name. (Try finding a MetArt model on another site, for example.)

I also said other. I think a lot of the girls, especially Euro types, that start out in the biz don't envision staying for long (and don't) so they don't care what name gets attributed to them. Only once the modelling starts to morph into a career with real money does it start to matter to the girls.

Nah, why would they want to have a variety of names, short of trying to separate themselves from seriously extreme content they may have done earlier in their careers? And with the anything goes attitude of an increasing number of performers this is probably pretty rare as it is.
Plus, I think in a lot of cases mistaken idea would be quite difficult. Is anyone other than the real Bonnie Rotten (not her Christian name?) going to be identified as her?

I hate the habits of many eastern models to change name in any site they work.
I can't understand why they do that, when I like a model I look around for other her material, and I could join to another site just to dowload it!
Even worse, it makes very difficult to find the model for someone who wants to offer some work to her..

Some may want to, some may simply not care, and some don't. I remember Susana Spears being on a site with a pseudonym for about week, after which she was "renamed" Susana Spears. That's a model who has a career.
What I don't believe is the blanket statement that answers "yes" to the question, even for a single site. It's too general to be true.
