I'm undecided. Many sites offer a lot of high quality content for a fair price (especially if you are using some discount deal to sign up). But then there's regional pricing. If I have to pay a lot more than the users from the US, I just don't think it's such a good investment anymore.

The thing that most people don't realise is that there isn't anything quite like online porn. Where else can you get hundreds of hours of content for less than 30$? Most mainstream sites require a lot more money to get a lot less content and often most mainstream sites don't allow download unless you buy the individual movie/show and that gets expensive real fast.

I'm with pat on this. My porn budget is bigger now than it was in the days where VHS tapes or DVDs were my primary means of getting porn but the amount of porn I can access with that budget has increased exponentially. Apart from cost (and value) another huge difference between now and then is the physical size of a collection. I'm guessing that I have about 30TB of porn and I can't imagine the size of the warehouse I'd need to store that if it were on VHS tapes. I'd need a second garage if it were on DVDs. And being able to easily find and access stuff on my digital collection is so much easier than sorting through video tapes or DVDs. This is the golden age of porn.

I used to have 200 DVD's and a few VHS's equaling $1000.00's (US) I know have 5TB of movies and pics
and maybe is in the 300-500 range.
I am not always pleased with content. However this question reminded me how it once was. You would go to the XXX shop or order a VHS/DVD and if it was by mail it could take two weeks. And then there is going to the XXX shop hoping your neighbor doesn't you ( unless she is cute).
Its come along way and yes its a good value if compared to the history of porn. Compared to today's
arena of porn, it takes much more to beat the competition.

You win some; you lose some ..... prompting my answer as being undecided.
You win when the site cleanly delivers all they promise without the worrisome unwelcome confrontational surprises greeting you sometimes after they've got your money.
Losing, in my round-about way of making a point, is one of many ways simply evidenced by a sinking feeling you get following the "no-show" of goods after your plastic extracts funds from your bank ----- $$$$'s seemingly venturing into the unknown.
Then comes A familiar revisit of the realization you're in for a tug-of-war with support even if you are lucky enough to get their attention.
Think dueling with your weapon loaded with blanks.

I think so, yes, when you consider that your porno pound goes towards paying the models/talent gets their fair share, the webmaster(s) get their cut, any outfits and props, any studios they may need, the photography equipment, the web hosting and bandwidth plus probably a million other things I've forgotten.

Ditto.
Much more stuff for much less $$$. The old video rentals were great at 3 tapes/ 3 days / $7 but with an average of 5 scenes per video that meant about 50 cents per scene. VideoBox offers 150+/- scenes per month at about 10 cents a scene.
Best part is storage. Tapes took up a tom of space and trying to locate a favorite scene required a precise indexing system.

A good value compared to what? Magazines? Old VHS? DVDs? Strip clubs? A date? A girlfriend? A hooker? A wife? (I'm mostly kidding...) :-)
I agree with Pat and RearAdmiral about the volume and variety available on-line being unlike anything else, ever, but I've also experienced what Greymane mentions with rip-off sites. It amazes me that some of these sites can be in business at all.
In the end, you often make a decision based on the sales pitch you are given. Sometimes the result is all that is promised, but often it is not. Thankfully, there is a community here at PU, "The community-based Consumer Reports of porn", that helps us by providing timely and accurate reviews so we know what we are getting into.

What Pat said. You rarely find sites that have you pay a premium price by the unit--those that have tried have not done so well--and the content is actually much more interesting than a lot of the mainstream movies with their special effects and worn-out story lines.
Some things bear repeating more than others.

Oops. Starting writing and the edit timer ran out...
I'm thinking I used to spend about $20-30 a month on magazines and videos back in the...80s, plus an Atlanta, Dallas, Houston or Fort Lauderdale strip club once every couple of months or so. That was maybe 40 images per $5 magazine and one crappy video rental a week. When you consider Moore's rule of technology (doubles every 6 months-2 years), and you throw in inflation, I'd say on-line porn is about the same or slightly better value than porn of prior years.
And although I know where there are some really, really...um...satisfying strip clubs, it is hard to compare that to having a private video chat with any one of about a million girls, some of whom are popular models on your favorite porn sites, with the ability to ask her to do just about anything you can imagine right there in living color...probably for less than you would spend at a strip club.
And if you think that is cool, just wait until you see POV and real-time role-play porn on an Oculus Rift! This technology will blow your everything!
So I guess the value (and budget) is about the same but the technology makes it all much better.

The good thing is that porn is incredibly cheap now.
The bad thing is that this really is the only good thing about it.
