Power it off - got a bit scared by some stories where a stationary PC started to overheat and burn....

REPLY TO #1 - Denner :
Ditto what Denner said. Plus, three other reasons.
1. Booting up requires a password on my computer so if something happens (home break-in, etc.), my stuff is difficult to access by a bad guy/gal.
2. Closing down lets me make sure all applications and all files have been closed and it clears cache.
3. I have a loaded 17" laptop that the mfr says has a 6 hour battery. If we have a power outage when my computer is left idle for a long period of time, I won't be able to access anything.
One other thing. My computer tech guy says that, when a computer is idle but still running, critical parts continue to operate which can cause unnecessary wear and tear on things like the hard drive.

I usually power it off between brushing and flossing.

It's best to power off in case the power goes out or a surge happens.
