I think the current limits are fine. I've not had a problem with exceeding the character limits at this current level, I certainly did with the old lower limits as I wrote my reviews in a word processor then just copied and pasted into PU only to find I'd exceeded the character limits and had to go back and edit the review again.

I'm one of those who regularly approach the character limits but I don't mind the current limits. If figure if I'm going over the limit I'm probably just ranting too much or not clearly saying what I'm trying to convey. Nothing wrong with having to edit your work.

I write most reviews off-line and then copy-and-paste them into the site. My first drafts of a review always exceed the limits and there are times I think they're too low. But... I think the limits are just fine. They force me to edit my reviews more than I would if I had no limits and I think those edits keep the review more on point and readable.
My vote is to keep the current limits.

I have run out of room in most of the reviews I've written, and had to continue in "replies". I run out of room partly because I like to list my favorite clips at a site. I am strongly in favor of at least doubling the present limits.

When I had something to review I often had to edit it down, but then it is possible that the limits have been increased since I last reviewed.

from a reader pov, its nice to have the reviews concise. I have seen reviews on other sites that just go on and on, and I end up not reading them and not returning to that site either
