This is one of those things that depends on who is saying it and why. If I had a young lady lover and she playfully called me that, that's one thing.
If I was caught admiring a young lady and called that by another person intending it as a putdown, I'd just shrug it off as coming from someone who evidently plans to be an asexual member of AARP.

The question is highly context sensitive. Typical 18 year old girls think any male over the age of 35 and/or not pushing a stroller around is a dirty old man. But (for me anyway) any woman between the ages of maybe 35 and 45 who implies that I'm a dirty old man (or equivalent) is probably flirting.

I am actually a fairly young man and I KNOW I'm dirty lol so I would assume they were joking (if it were a friend). If it was a stranger calling me out or something I'd ether embrace it or ignore it. Kind of a weird question :-P
