For porn fans that don't mind a streaming-only option, I just discovered quite an enticing site. Adult Empire, the biggest U.S. DVD site also has a streaming-only subscription, AdultEmpireUnlimited. It advertises streaming-only access to 165,000 movies, 700,000 clips for $24.99/month or $49.98 for 3 months or $149.94 ($12.95/month billed annually) for 1 year. Certainly beats the hell out of Videobox and their rotated selection of bargain basement updates.
You might have come across some videos here or there tagged with "mydirtyhobby.com", and curious as I am I checked it out and it was not at all what I thought it was. Seems like it's a mostly German-speaking network of amateur webshows and profiles. Like a Facebook for german porn. Sounds good, right?
First of all you can create a free user login, but the minute you do that, well you always land on the purchase site (unless you log out and then re-visit) so I succumbed and bought a low-to mid-range subscription.
And as it happens when I login, the money I spent was magically converted to a fictional currency called DC (or as 90's kid called it - Download Credit). Yes - you have to have DC to even watch a video. And it will cost you dearly.
Just to preview a video is half of what you've paid IN REAL MONEY!
The reason I ended up here is for two girls. Dirty Sindy and Romy and while they're still there it is unthinkable expensive to watch let alone download (which you can't - you have to use capture tools).
So to sum up, this site is a money sucker and probably should be banned!
Is this just POV video or is it Virtual Reality? There is no clear answer on their site or in searches. Also are all the scenes online only or do you get to download them?
I found the information about how much credits cost from your review but browsing the site, it doesn't mention how many credits scenes cost. When I clicked "buy credits" it went back to a preview scene. Poor design. I won't bother with this site thanks.
You are unable to change email address. When I asked support I was told to make a new account. I followed up asking about purchases and having to readd favourites, and got no response.
I've been a member for about 6 months now & have to say it is one of the best VOD sites available. The customer support is great. Pretty much all new movies are full HD quality. I am not a big fan of streaming, prefer downloads always. Some of the movies are 6Gb+ in size & downloaded without issues or ended up as corrupt files. The only negative as far as I am concerned is that there us no option to download particular scene. If you want a particular scene, streaming is the only option.
I recently had to change my email and frustratingly they don't allow you to do it through their site (at least on the ddfadventures version). Imagine my shock when I got a message back from support after changing my e-mail which also contained my password!
since a week, hotmovies is seriously struggeling with the Streaming Speed.
- the "HD"-Option (4Mbit) doesn't work for me never!
- the 'MEGA"-Option (2Mbit) doesn't work since last week
The Streaming starts with the Maximum Speed (2 or 4 Mbit) and Drops down to 100 kbit/s. Sometimes i's going up and down, but you can't look the Video, that doesn't run smoothly. The anwser of the Support is the normal blablabla ".. it depends on your connetion, the Providers between have Problems, no Problem on hotmovies, i'm the only with Problems.." and so on.
unfortunately i'm working in the it-department, so i have a good look into the Problems (and have the measurement device to check the conditions).
I think the have not enough System ressources to fulfill the promised straeming Quality.
thanks.
Update 07-09-2013:
I provided a lot of detailed informations about up-/download-Speed to several Locations in USA (recommended by the hotmovies.com Support). All Downloads have a Speed over 10 MBit/s.
Here the anwser of hotmovies.com:
Thank you for contacting us.
While the speedtest may show that you have the bandwidth needed to stream movies from our site the speedtest is not connectiong to our servers.
It seems that for some reason you do not have enough bandwidth to play the movies from pur servers.
Why you are having this issue we do not know.
Our best suggestion to you is for you to contact your Interent Service provider.
=> in my opinion, that means "hey guy that's your problem"
As an network-specialist i say, no that's not my problem. The Problems are on the Hosting Service!!!! Small ´machines, not enough bandwith, to small Caches, to small bandwith to the filesystem/Network storage System, no balancing etc. there is a Long list for mistakes and Problems! But a good Service Needs some Money....
Last night the updatet the Website and now you have less then ever Options to stream the Videos. All Scenes are devided into several part's. Now you can only stream from the beginning of the complete Scene and not a single part of the Scene.
They have also more Problems with sorting the results of searchlistes and so on.
It was touched on in an older comment that they had instituted a cap on the amount of free minutes that an account can earn, but no one ever actually said what what the cap is. As it turns out, the cap is 30 minutes. As soon as you have that, the free minute every day button goes away. But as soon as you go back below it, the button comes back (literally, you can watch a little bit of a movie, refresh the page, and if you haven't taken your free minute for that day the button will be there). I wish the cap were a little bit higher, though, because I feel like it's only enough to watch 1 scene, and then I have to wait a week or two to build up enough minutes to watch another one. Upping it even 5-10 more minutes would give enough time to be able to view 2 scenes when filled, so I don't feel as much like I have to keep a queue of scenes worth checking out.
One of things that I said in my review is that AEBN didn't seem to have as many premium titles (i.e. titles that cost more than 1 minute per minute of viewing) as some other VOD sites. What I had based that on was by checking out movies I saw were premium on other sites, and seeing if they were labeled as premium on this site. But in browsing the site a few days ago, I found a movie that I wanted to watch, that wasn't labeled premium on it's main page. So I went to start to stream one of its scenes, and I was taken to a screen that said that the movie would cost 2 minutes per minute, and asked me to confirm. I was surprised by this, clicked no, and checked on the main page to see if I could find anywhere that said that this was a premium title. I couldn't. So apparently they don't necessarily label all their premium titles as premium. So if you're going to buy some minutes for a particular movie, make sure that check first by trying to stream a little bit of it to make sure it absolutely isn't premium.
Right now (and they did this last year), they have an Advent calendar running where each day gets you a free gift (a few minutes, some rewards points, a pre-chosed streaming rental for a week). Last year, I ended up with 2 lifetime rentals and about 30-50 minutes from showing up every day of the calendar. If you're already a member here, I'd suggest going back now, and doing so every day until Christmas.
I’ve been a member at Hot Movies for a while and use the site a lot. I know that a lot of members here don’t like VOD, and for me it’s a love/hate relationship. VOD sites, especially those as big as Hot Movies are like the crack cocaine of porn: they may be a bit pricey, but once you’re hooked, you’re hooked good. Hot Movies and some of the other large VOD sites have such huge collections of titles that can’t be found elsewhere and from them I’ve had an opportunity to see some titles that I’d otherwise not have been able to see. As for the fact that they’re VOD only (or DRM-protected downloads) and can be expensive for that privilege, I suspect that’s more the decision of the studios that the VOD sites.
Anyway, in an earlier comment about the site the webmaster replied and noted that Hot Movies offers a 30 day access to some studios for a flat fee of $30. He used Vivid as an example. At a dollar a day for some of my favourite studios this could be a great deal. The problem is that I can’t figure out how to sort the available studios by those which offer this service. Hot Movies has hundreds of studios available and only a few offer this service and I’d rather not have to open each of them to see if they offer this service. Does anyone know if you can sort the studios to see only those that offer the monthly access? If so, how?
For a while (for a long while) Hotmovies has been offering free streaming minutes for members: every time you logged in, you could add one extra minute to your account, which isn't much, but it is something. (For a short time they were offering increasingly more minutes if you joined several days in a row: one minute the first day; two minutes on the second day, etc., up until five, but that was too good and was discountinued).
Anyway, I cannot complain because when I joined Hotmovies I didn't expect to get those free minutes, but it's a bit dissapointing to see them gone once you got used to them...
Apart from that, I continue to be a happy Hotmovies customer...
i don't understand. They expect me to pay 10 dollars to watch just 1 video multiple times in 5 days ? this is a joke. you can't donwload, only web streaming, just lol. all this buying minutes thing is just a horrible value compared to videobox and other download sites. it is funny that they are marketing it "no monthly fees" like it is a good thing. dude, i have to pay 100 dollars a month to you to watch the same content in videobox.
Knowing that I'm a long-term member of ALS Scan, Alex asked me to do some beta-testing of ALS's new pay-per-scene site. Being more into perusing full sites, I have to confess that I didn't get around to it until the new site was already open to the public. I won't quit my day-job.
But the site is open, so I figured that I'd get my ass moving and see what my impressions are.
First of all, it's a very clean un-cluttered design, unlike MANY sites these days that have so much advertising for other sites that it's hard to even see the material that you joined the specific site for. This site doesn't even advertise ALS Scan - which it might want to do in a non-intrusive way, since many who discover ALS through this site might want to see more.
At this site, you buy ALS Dollars with a credit card and then you purchase individual scenes - photo-sets or vids.
The price-point strikes me as very generous to the consumer. Where a month's join to ALS Scan would be $29.95, you can go to this site and say, "Oh, man - I want to see Amy Brooke" and buy a single "normal res" photo set of approx 300 pics at $0.99 or a single "high-res" photo set at $1.49 - or you can get a bundle of all of the photo-sets at a slightly higher price in either normal or high-res.
For vids, you can buy a "stream" of a vid - no download for $0.99, or a 720 download - DiVX or MP4 HD at $1.49 each or a download at WMV 1080 for $1.99/scene or again you can buy a bundle or the vids at any of the resolutions - the bundle of the 6 vids at the highest res is $7.16.
All the vids have pretty full descriptions of what type of action is included.
It's a pretty great alternative to a full-site join. I know that I've definitely been excited to see everything that a site has of a particular performer and here you could get all of ALS Scan's material of Amy Brooke at just under $10.00 - 1/3 the price of joining the site for 1 month.
I looked at one of the 720 MP4 vids and one of the 1080 vids I downloaded (I was provided with some ALS bucks in my account by the site for beta-testing purposes) and the 1080 vid looked more sumptuous to me on my system, but the 720 vid looked excellent at fill-screen mode. It wasn't exactly a 1-to-1 comparison, since the 1080 vid was an outdoor scene and the 720 vid was an indoor vid.
I'm also impressed with how current the material is being posted on this site. They have all of the Gigi Rivera material that ALS Scan has posted, so they seem to be seriously committing to this site as a consumer alternative to joining the monthly site as opposed to doing some "wait 90 days until you can get new material On Demand".
ALS has created a very appealing site here in my opinion and made it very easy for people to use it and enjoy it.
Would I give up my membership to ALS Scan and just go the On-Demand route?
Not likely - with ALS Scan having updates every single day - pic sets of approx 300 pics or vids that average 30 minutes - that site has the edge for me
I deposited to this site once or twice and I have to admit they have the best selection of movies that fit my tastes. My tastes run towards reality, not the pseudo-reality some 'reality' sites offer. There are certainly 'production' videos. But there are many truly ametuerish videos of real people having real sex. That is not to say they aren't getting paid for it. But they obviously are not professional actors. And the quality (or lack there-of) of a good home video camera is not at all a turn off to me. It convinces me it is real.
The categorization is great, even including niches you have probably never hear of before.
But the VOD format does not work. I travel and do much of my porn viewing on the road. In spite of the claim of many hotels that they have high speed internet, they don't. So I spend my at-home time collecting videos to view while on the road. VOD won't stream fast enough on the road.
Downloads on Hot Movies, even 7 day downloads, are far too risky. I do not want to spend that kind of cash only to find out the video sucks while on the road. I usually download a few hours of video at a time, and even from the best download sites I will only find a few that really get me motivated. The rest I delete before getting even half way through. That style of viewing is impractical at Hot Movies.
I would gladly pay premium download site prices to be able to download from Hot Movies though.
If all your viewing will be through the convenience of a truly high speed connection this could be an excellent site.
I have been buying their movies before there was a Bound Heat. In the good old days some of them ( Dark Confessions, Chained Heat 2 and Bound Cargo for example) were available at Blockbuster.
Ergo,in the 21st Century these movies (and of course the more then 20 new ones) could never play in the "mainstream" media, for that they are too controversial, sexy and kinky. Too bad for those who did not find these on the web yet.
The trailers show exactly what you will see in the movies ( and they are real movies not porn clips). The download works suberbly and the movies are in high DVD quality for the purchase option and just a bit smaller for the 48h rental version. They also have a DVD order page. The tech support is also friendly and fast.
Also, to correct the description at the top of this page categorizing Bound heat as only pay per view (PPV) with 48 h access:
1)PPV 48 h rental, YES
2)PPV permanent purchase ( on your HD forever), YES
3)DVD purchase available, YES
4) The site is NOT a membership site and has unlimited access to all galleries and trailers. You only pay to get a movie.
since a few weeks they recycle films als "newly added", which a saw in 2009 and 2010. there are also a lot of "premium titles" with 1,67 to 3,33 minutes accounted for every minute you watch. was a good site, but in the last few months to much maximizing the profit....
Are you thinking about buying sets from this site?...Wait
This site charges $10 to download one photoset or movie(I don't even know if you get to keep it). Most of us here won't go for deals like that. But if you've ever wanted to view some of the content, "Good news everyone!" Its looks to me that they have been and will be adding the content to a their new subscription site Rascal Dog(review coming later) which is $25/month.
The only thing I have to say right now is it ain't HD quality.
Majormike mentioned this in passing - Hot Movies is part of a large series of sites all run by the same company. I'm not a fan of streaming, that's just a quirk of mine. I'd rather download a movie and either buy an unlimited time licence or just have unlimited viewing for a set period (normally 7 or 30 days).
I can agree with everyone here who recommends this site for its size. They have an amazing collection. For years I've been trying to find and watch porn that I had in my collection from 1985 to 2000 and this site has helped. If you like porn from that era they have lots there. If they don't have it, it likely isn't their fault. (Like earlier versions of Joey Silvera's "Fashion Sluts" series which appears to have been discontinued by the studio. Bad decision, studio guys.) They do have, though, a large collection of Randy West's Up and Cummers ranging from the very early to the more recent. These have always been favorites of mine and it is great to have access again. And in many cases if it is a title I really want I can buy the licence pretty cheap too.
Download speeds are average. I'm not going to make comment on video quality because I haven't viewed anything really recent, so what I've seen is probably taken from an old VHS tape. But it still very watchable.
Dollar for dollar VOD sites probably don't match big sites like Videobox or American Vice for a preson just building a collection. But for someone with a big collection already this site (and all sister sites) is an excellent way to see some different movies that aren't available.
One issue is DRM. I've always sworn that I would never have anything to do with a site that has DRM. In this case though, I'll make an exception. Hot Movies / Download 2 Own etc probably just agree to the terms set by the studio and if this is the only way I can see certain older videos then I'll live with that. In my opinion, it is still decent value.
I'd highly recommend these sites. they're easy to use and I've never had an issue.
I've been buying time on AEBN for at least 3 years and have never had a problem. The streaming videos always download at a good speed with little or no buffering.
I'm guessing the guy who's reporting tech problems would have problems on any VOD site.
Lots of content, and seems to stream pretty quick, if not for the cons I listed, I would recommend.
Have to keep entering Password every time you want to view a different scene. Tech Support first said to disable cookies and temp internet files to alleivate problem which DOES NOT HELP!! Then they tell you to disable your firewall, and pop up blockers and also to disable any anti virus protection you have...To me it isn't worth it!!!
Don't bother, there are other sites as good as this and a whole lot less problems!!!
Sign up for ten adult websites at $24.95 and that's $249.50/mo! Buy 10 DVDs? That's almost as much. And that's just TEN movies, or ten sites, sometimes featuring only one girl. Or worse, only one girl doing only one thing (i.e., posing, or using toys, etc).
I usually buy about 120-200 minutes for $14.95-$19.95 (still less than the average adult site) which usually enough minutes for me for 3-4 weeks.
And with that, I can zip from one scene in one video to another video. Without having to either pay for two different adult website membership subscriptions, or buy/rent two different DVDs.
If you "rent" a video at this site in case you want to re-watch a video for a few days, you're still looking at less than what pay adult sites cost or what renting costs.
There might be cheaper VOD sites, but none with this selection.
$34.90 is the most I may have ever spent at HotMovies.com during a certain month. But in that time, I have accessed anywhere from 10 to 20 different titles. Assuming an even mix of DVDs and pay sites, I probably have saved at least $460!
I've done the math. This site is definitely a lot more affordable that has been claimed.
Without a doubt, most sites content and certainly DVDs offer content at much higher quality video than with the 512K streams coming from this site. But it's a GREAT way to test-drive sites for their content, or DVDs you're considering buying.
