Suggestions/Complaints

I think we should have thread for input from members.

My first suggestion is that a new thread be opened by management for requests for sites to be listed. We have an old one from 2016, but need a new one.

This Suggestions thread, the New Site 2019 request thread, the New Member thread, What a PU Review Should Include and the thread Help Wanted should all be pinned to the top. They used to be and are all helpful, I think.

The new site request thread should be taken seriously. Members should get an update as to their request's status. It can be as little as the site has not responded or even the site does not want to be listed. If a site does get a listing, let the members know. Not informing anyone has happened, but is not what is in the best interest of PU as the requesting member probably wants to post a review.

There have been examples of members being jerks. Harassment of those who like porn that does not appeal to you is not acceptable.

Exotics mentioned some examples in another post. Members harassed an excellent reviewer of trans sites. No one needs to hear that this is not your taste-just whether the review is well done. Another example a while back was of a lesbian reviewer. We lost a member because of a political opinion.
I am sure there are other examples. Ignore that a member talks about orientation or uncommon interests.

Judge the review and not the person. Edited on Feb 11, 2019, 09:08am

Hear! Hear! Khan's zero-tolerance policy for any kind of harassment or name-calling was a good rule, that should continue to be strictly enforced.

Also, I've posted it before, but I totally agree with your aforementioned suggestions for the pinned threads. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"

I've pulled out every crazy, every interesting, every intriguing and every "did you really suggest that" suggestion I've ever came up with and compiled them below. For added laughs, I shared almost all of these with Khan. He thought some were really good and said one gave him the best laugh he had in years.

#1 Get with one of the online custom t-shirt makers and make a Porn Users shirt with the Porn Users logo and a catchy, smart tagline like, "Porn Users ... Helping You Find Your Porn since 2007(hipsters love the since (year) logos and the alternative was "Giving You A Hand since 2007"). Have the url below the logo and something like "exclusive discounts, engaging conversations, raffles, user reviews" in small letters. Khan said he started laughing when thinking about wearing it. And it's not to be given away as a gift. Just a regular cheap decent quality shirt to be bought. Well, I guess you could also give them away, too. I would wear one in spring/summer/fall, on weekends. I already wear one shirt that says, "She swallowed it" on the back of it and have another that says, "Eyes up here, ladies". Those would probably be more controversial if people didn't know me and I see a Porn Users shirt the same way, even more positive, really.

#2 Find a ghostwriter that writes erotica e-books. Give him/her all rights to use Porn Users, The Best Porn in a book about life, love, betrayal, regret, anger, sex, joy, masturbation, and the main character's hobby is being a porn reviewer on Porn Users or The Best Porn or both. Depending on the writer, you could realistically get this shot at a massive audience to advertise for free or a small fee. The back page in the e-book could be a full page ad for Porn Users and TBP. The character could even wake up early on Tuesdays to get his/her review in for the raffle. A good erotica author could sell 20,000 - 50,000 copies of their e-books. And giving them what equals an angle for their character to operate from (borderline porn fanatic) you're writing a good portion of the character's personality. There are many ways this could be even furthered. It's an open area of advertising that is very cheap and has a very large potential audience. What some call a low-risk, high-reward marketing investment.

#3 Mbaya mentioned the member of the month and this is similar. One of the nice features we used to have for new members was the monthly badge for new members with the most points. That could be brought back. A member of the month could be put in like Mbaya talks about and as someone that believes humor and laughing at oneself is important to a community, how about a "Haven't You Won Enough Raffles, Yet?" award for the ones that are still around after all these years and still going? That one reminds me of the old Wittyguy year-end roast threads of members.

#4 I think I made Khan smile a little with this one. Bring back something like Khan's PU-view where he would ask 10-15 questions of a member and have it linked into the members signature so others could read it and get to know the member a little more. Or now that I see our profile bios are still there (mine was erased years ago and I thought it was hacked) but now see I can edit it to enter a new one, have the members fill their profile bios out and link those in their signature on the forum. It's still hard for me to believe I've been married and divorced twice since PU started, moved 2,500 miles away and started over in life, too. People change a lot in 12 years.

#5 This one was used once before and it had good success. I'm not for sure why it stopped but here it is again...

Come up with a weekly promotion, maybe have it on Friday and call it something like "Porn Users Pops (Site name) Cherry". This would be for sites with little or no reviews on PU and maybe even not on TBP. The sites could offer a 7 day full trial to PU members for $5 or less for one week. It generates reviews for their site/network and is $5 a week really that much of a loss of what they're charging per month? This helps new or lesser known sites out and it makes it easier for PU's members that can't spend a lot of money on porn to have some sites to review. If weekly is too often, it could be every other week or a monthly promotion even. I do know My XXX Pass received a huge boost from doing it years ago on here and they're now one of TBP's highest rated sites under the Blow Pass name. And yes, the name comes from the corniness of that deflowering site that claims established porn stars are still virgins until they get a hold of them.

#6 One that I only thought of because I have a friend that is a youtuber that makes funny videos. Offer one of the Porn Users shirts from above to a youtuber and maybe a small payment to have them wear the shirt in one of their videos. The youtubers have anywhere from 250,000 subscribers up to tens of millions.

#7 See if we have any members that would be willing to have a Twitter account that would name drop TBP and PU every chance they got. As many porn stars as there are that use Twitter, few if any would complain about someone saying, "I saw a review that talked about your scene, it was on Porn Users, the review was so good, I decided to look the scene up!"

I mention the social media one simply because it was given up on so quickly and possibly approached from the wrong angle. If Porn Users constantly promotes itself on social media, it requires others to share it. If Porn Users members or even a single member bounced around to 12-15 porn star Twitter feeds and posted a comment about Porn Users it would reach all of those following each of those porn stars.

#8 Use members in promotions like, "So, you think you can write reviews better than exotics4me or Mbaya or rearadmiral?" The youngest adult generation is highly-competitive and are always looking for something non-athletic to "win" at lol. Sorry for the jab it was uncalled for. This would be done on whatever social media is the most popular. I really don't know which is.

#9 The next two brought lots of laughs for Khan. Talk to one of the sites about getting a PU member into a porn scene. Khan said he stopped there and said out loud, "I'm not getting you in a scene with Eve Angel!" The reason this one came up, over the years, I have had 3 sites offer to give me full access to their shootings. Two even did it here on Porn Users and received dirty looks from Khan. Make it a once a year promotion. If the member doesn't want to be in the porn scene they could go and watch, maybe even participate in a non-sexual way. I know it's a stretch but for someone like me, also see #10 for what I'm about to say, I live in the area I would most-likely vacation to and the second most-likely place I would vacation to (Myrtle Beach) is just 4 hours away. The member would receive nothing from PU except the connection to the site willing to allow a member on their set and to meet the models. Member would have to pay for their transportation, hotel and food.

#10 Last one and while it might seem like the most far-reaching one, I have done this with another group in the past (2013) and it worked much better than anyone believed it would. A Porn Users cruise or vacation/convention. By offering X amount of potential people attending, you receive large discounts on hotels, food (sorry I don't say dining) and you really don't have to even see the other people in the group if you don't want to. We had a group of 52 that went to Hilton Head in South Carolina, the costs per person were under $500 (not including transportation) for 7 days of accommodations and meals. But we made the cost $1,000 per person. Making around $20,000 profit that went into the group's pot for the next time we got together. You would be surprised the potential it offers to add new members. Couples are always looking for a way to get a discounted vacation and the more people you bring in, the cheaper the costs are. As mentioned above, vacations these days for me are short 4 hour trips or I just walk out into my yard and have the Smoky Mountains looking at me. It also has high potential for those single members that have no one to go on vacation with. Nothing is required but the group I did it with in 2013 had a "convention" each day we were there for an hour just to talk to other members.

There's 12 years of ideas rolled up into 8,500 characters. I know they're not all the greatest ideas but there's no cost from me for using any of them. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk Edited on Feb 16, 2019, 12:37am

Hahahaha, these are funny tshirts! I'll definitely pass this idea onto the PU team!

This is a good idea but it'll take a lot of negotiation with the authors and backforth. I used to deal with in a previous job and they're very picky on their material. This is the same thing for YouTubers - to negotiate any sort of deal would be hard as they're very picky on who these choose.

We've thought about bringing the badge system back so keep an eye out for it!

If any member would be willing to do this, for sure! I can set up an interview and publish it onto the site.

I have a suggestion about the poll: How about restarting it from scratch? I have noticed many repeated questions from the past and feel this would give the polls a fresh approach.

It does make sense since many things are being rebooted for a fresh start.

It also will keep us busy putting in new poll questions.

Edited to add: I wrote this before seeing the newest poll questions posted. Maybe you can keep up the ones from the past month or two. "Dogs think people are Gods. Cats don't as they know better." - Kedi (2016)

I think that submitting a useful poll question should earn a point towards the raffle. This can only help.

I love this suggestion. I've mentioned before that you can only review what you join, so those of us on limited budgets are essentially structurally locked out of the weekly raffle. Giving points for other reasons should really be investigated. "A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself."

I'm going to bring a "I just noticed this and can't stop laughing" moment to the discussion of suggestions/complaints. Has anyone noticed that "sad smiley" has a tongue? I thought it was a red tear drop and it might be but it looks like he/she flicks their tongue out to catch a bug! Pay no attention to me lol.

Amen to that mbaya. Members of this forum should be mature enough to be accepting of all tastes.I haven't been around for a while so I'll have to ask: was anyone ever castigated for being narrow and mean spirited? In answer to your question, not that I know of.

Yes. I had a few discussions on lk2fireone's thread about politics with a couple of people who got pretty insulting. At least one of them was suspended. I was kind of upset about it; I didn't want them banned, I just wanted to discuss things civilly. I can stand up for myself, and castigating people in public pretty much shows the limitations of the persons throwing the shade. But it has happened. It was about political material, not sexual orientation or porn preference, but.... "A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself."

Hi Freddie,

I've noticed in the last few weeks that I cannot add a reply to the Trust Ratings page. I click on the link to Add Reply and a form comes up, but there's no way to submit the information and when I go back to my Trust Ratings page, nothing I write is there.

Can you get one of the tech staff to check it out? I can send you my computer's stats if you'd like.

Freddie, I read that you're down with the flu.
Drink plenty of coffee or tea, and maybe you can pass it on to the tech team.
(Just kidding about passing it on to the tech team. But it's not a bad idea.)

You can't go there (politics)these days, Loki! Not without encountering deep hostility on someone's part!

BTW allow me to add a modification to my previous remarks. When I asked if anyone had been castigated for being offensive to another member I was thinking of management, not the users. A user castigating others would just lead to more insults and this forum has been civilised for so long that it has been home to me for many years. And I would like it to stay that way!

Khan was pretty tough on user to user problems. He gave out some suspensions. In cases involving webmasters and users I think Rick thought business was more important than keeping members.

Politics is always a touchy subject, but I wanted to have an honest discussion with people and learn more from them. I am open to changing my mind, and like to look at things from different points of view. Not everyone wants to persuade or inform, the dominant mindset seems to be 'you must agree with me or I have a right to be insulting.'

It's kind of funny, because I don't agree with anyone I know on most things politically, but we talk politics civilly all the time. I figured it would be okay to try that here. I was wrong. "A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself."

Isn't that the truth? I'm Canadian, my best friend is conservative, while I tend to be liberal (with a small l) and we disagree on many things. But this is the Internet, Loki. We hide behind Pseudonyms, that's where all our fears and lack of self esteem are let out and become vile and hurtful insults. What scares me on other sites is how many there are of ill will. Those might be my neighbors!

Just a test to see if any of my latest replies show up in this forum. I am being notified every time that something is wrong with the system and that they can't process my post at the time yet when I look my replies are there, but it seems they do that only on my computer.

Clues: The number of my posts has not changed from one post to the others, under last replies I only see the name of the person I replied to, no mention of my following reply.

If this post should show up, thanks in advance for a reply!

P.S. Forget about the embarrassing mention of posts made. Of course the latest number would show up on all posts. Edited on Mar 27, 2019, 01:41pm

I'm just disappointed I cannot seem to civilly talk politics with people online. Maybe I'm naive, but I think that the web is a public space, and even if we're anonymous or psuedononymous we have an obligation to comport ourselves in a civil manner. It's kind of funny because I'm not really naive and quite the cynic. I just think I hold myself to a high standard of behavior and keep hoping other people do too. Then you're bound to be disappointed, at least some of the time.
The standard level of the internet is blah. Maybe some people try to be fair or honest or polite, but there are always a few bad apples out there, willing to knock you down.

Or so I've found.

PS: Nice avatar, by the way. Who is that?

As the old saying goes: You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

I don't recall it written anywhere that people or life cannot disappoint me. It's allowed. I certainly won't change the person I am because of it.

I think anonymity on the internet is a boon in some ways, but a huge detraction in others. It does seem to bring out the lowest common denominator in humanity.

P.S. Thanks, I like this pic. I found it doing an image search for Dark Angel. I looked online but couldn't find a particular artist to attribute it to, but it looks like something from the Warcraft franchise to me. Slightly off topic, but I couldn't see how I can message the admin.. apparently he's 'invalid'.

How long does my first thread have to be 'pending' or sandboxed for?

All approved! Apologies for the tardiness - just catching up with everything after the weekend! We'd had problems with emailing the admin directly but if you go via the Contact Us route, I'll get the message and reply ASAP.

More of a question really. About the word exclusive. I'm into vr these days and have joined a couple (5) and later I found out that content of some of these sites can also be found on for example realvr, vrporn and sexlikereal.
I could have saved myself a lot by joining these instead. But almost all of the studios that deliver content to these sites have the mention "All content is exclusive."
VRbangers, VRHush, Sexbabesvr, VirtualRealPorn, BaDoinkVR, the list goes on and on. All get the mention of exclusive and they're clearly not.
Are these multi-studios a recent thing and will be updated soon or is this just completely overlooked?
