2010 Winners & Losers and Predictions in 2011 As we end 2010 and look forward to 2011 I thought it would be interesting to reflect on Winners & Losers in 2010 and invite Predictions for 2011: this is such a broad discussion so I've started with a few thoughts... 2010 Winners (based on success and up n coming) Girls: Anna Lovato, Natasha Marley, Riley Steele, Asa Akira, Jenna Haze, Ioana, Mandi Dee, Delta White (but no more), Blue Angel, Aleska Diamond Niche: Thought out story lines from the big studios. Other: Penthouse have re-invented themselves. Shawne Lenee recovered herself in 2010. Well done Girl. 2010 Losers (based on going bust, going stale or being replaced by the newer model) Girls: Devon, Sophie Moone, Sandy, Delta White (going downhill fast) Niche: Gonzo style Other: Eastern European market is becoming boring with repeated overworked shoot styles and formulas 2011 Predictions (based on trends, experience and insight) Girls - Up: Amia Miley, Anna Lovato (Big time), Natasha Marley, Riley Steele, Aleska Diamond Girls - Down: Jenna Haze will lose it because 2010 was her year. Shame. Niche: more costume & superhero spoofs Jurassics Other: BlueBird Studio will establish themselves as a major contender to sign best (prettiest) contract stars with fresh faces and filming styles. European Girls will start to work in Brasil and India. American Studios vs Russian Mafia turf war in Brasil looking to secure the best girls. Porn outfits will become more common place on the high street. Global warming will encourage girls to wear short skirts and Emerging Markets: BRIC will explode onto the Porn scene: BRIC (Brasil, Russia, India, China) looking forward to it...especially what comes out of India. Finally Natasha Marley will win the AVN award for best Foreign Actress...why, because the american studios are going to be all over her now that she does hardcore... Not a bad list at all. The only thing on it that I'm sure won't happen is the BRIC thing. For one thing Russia is already a major porn player. Brasil is too far for Europeans and I'm not certain of the safety of tourists and visitors to South America. India and China are never going to be big porn producers. China takes a pretty harsh approach to porn so I don't expect that to change anytime soon. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

Your prediction about the demise of the gonzo style interests me. Do you really think it's on the way out? If so, what have you seen that makes you think so? Gonzo is why I'm basically stuck with amateurs (not really unhappily). I just don't see an end to the cheap production "values" it employs. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. | |

I had no idea that Natasha Marley had gone into hardcore. Well, that's good news! And once again, it's not so true that the established softcore models stay that way. I think Natasha's foray into hardcore porn is in Bluebird films Bonnie & Clyde movie. I think we'll see less of Jenna in front of the camera and more from jenna the director. Hi RagingBuddhist... I wasn't suggesting a demise, or a change in trend necessarily... I think Gonzo style will be with us for a long time because it is so prolific and mainly because of production costs...I think it's lost its niche that made it unique when we first saw it on the scene. now it's being copied as a style by many, there are actually some good sites that try this format...best one for Eastern European girls I've found recently is MyPickUpGirls.com which actually does this really well... I stand corrected if my statement for 2010 Losers Niche was Gonzo, what I meant was when studio try to do it and it isn't actually real, its staged. Hi Thedebilman666 Yep, and my imaginary crystal ball was running on beer the other night so what you got from me was a fairly raw and pickled brain dump... With regards to Gonzo, there are better productions coming, what I was referring to was studios trying to fake reality, as opposed to raw Gonzo... interesting to see some new Eastern European sites appearing where their format is more believable Gonzo than the American studios...so I think we will see this continue to grow but go mainstream rather than niche... maybe the use of the term niche is misleading, maybe genre? Hi pat362 Not sure your view about Brasil being too far will stand up over the long term. If you look at up'n'coming sites like PornTravelling these girls are Eastern European / Russian and I accept that Thailand is probably 'by perception' closer to them, the fact that they are travelling to these locations will spread the word. Thailand has the wrong base for a Porn industry to flourish but Brasil is where the new market economy is growing and they are more relaxed and liberal (Latino), and the same mind set exists in local men to exploit girls as they do in Eastern Europe. Jenna Haze having a "loser" year in 2011? Not likely. She decreased her workload substantially in 2010 after working like mad in 2008/2009. She's shifted her focus to her own company and her own productions and she'll likely continue that focus.
