Videos (tech) fast forward Guess most video/clips-fans know this: You've downloaded a somewhat large video, play it and then sometimes want to do a little Fast Forward - to get to the action quicker. A lot of wmw-files do it slow (I use Crystal Player or VLC) - very slow - AND sometimes the file even stops and starts allover again (Crystal Player) - with VLC and fast forward the picture gets blurred for a while... The option with downloading QuickTime/.mov-file instead does SOMETIMES work a little faster - but not always. Is this a matter of mediaplayer - or maybe even the pc itself? Any wizzards out there? I think it's a mixture of mediaplayer and pc. For example I use the KMPlayer, as it seems to work best for my system. However on some of the bigger HD videos, there are times when it will become unresponsive when first opening it up. However, I never have problems fast forwarding, other then it may take a few secs to respond. The only other video player I use is Windows Media Player, between those two, I very seldom have any problems. | |

I use Kmplayer and BSplayer. I have noticed over the years KMplayer will crash as well as BSplayer. Both are awesome players. BSplayer older versions are more clean and less clutter for video playing in later years BSplayer has taken on more and now is heavier. I mainly use Windows Media Player, but if that doesn't open a video file, like Cybertoad says, VLC almost always works. | |

Umm heres the link http://www.oldversion.com/BSplayer.html 1.0 through 1.37 are good ones. I am using 1.37 myself but 1.0 was good too. Oldversions.com has allot of the old applications of freeware. I am using XP, when I left PU earlier I was using Vista, it sucks so went back to XP pro 2 . And all my apps work fine. Since 2007 | |

Jeezzzzz - just downloaded BSplayer - and after the first try it totally fucked my system up...and had to shut down. After start-up and delete that player all my bookmarks in Netscape has gone - but Netscape has taken over the many bookmarks from Firefox - where I do not have porn - do not know what happened - but now I have to use quite some time to regain those lost porn-bookmarks - shit. NOT your fault, bro... I probably just did not watch carefully while installing - anyway - it also took over my startup-site at Firefox - so the logo was BS Player over the Google-logo - strange... And all the bookmarks suddenly transferred to Netscape (none of my original onces - but all from Firefox) had strange letters like russian, arab, or whatever - pretty weird... - but ok, catching up with my old porn-bookmarks, though.. I use Windows Media Player and occasionally I use VLC. Actually I've always had a wee problem with WMP in that when I play an mpeg and I let it go onto repeat the image gets horrendously distorted. It's fine with WMV files though. Most odd. www.rockchicksandbikerbabes.co.uk | |

I have always used windows media player and on my slower computer, even playing the larger 1280X720 3000 kbps plus videos were slow to begin with. However, I got a new laptop which is a duo core with 2 gb ram, I have never had problems with fast forwarding at all with these videos. It could be the codecs, have you downloaded a lot of codecs? Try downloading the 'K-Lite Codec Pack' from a site and see if that helps anything. If that does nothing I dunno what else to say, I'm not quite savvy in the arts of computer tech :( Good luck! Just a small correction to the site Cybertoad mentioned. www.oldversionS.com takes you to a search site. www.oldversion.com is a site that has all kinds of... well... old versions of software. Not to shift blame but ... It could be your computer contributing to the delay. A machine short on RAM or without a fast video card could add some delay when viewing big video files. As had been said VLC seems to play everything but for me takes a second when skipping forward so I only use it for broken files or incompatable formats. On the other hand media player classic works a treat for me. Though won't play mp4 files. | |
