You asked for it, we delivered; New feature: hide smileys

Hey guys,

I added a new feature to the forum today which a few of you requested and I'm sure many will appreciate. To the right of the textarea you will now see a link to hide the smileys, as shown here:

Once hidden, the site will remember your settings for up to one year, or until you clear your cookies. To have the smiley column back, you can simply click on the "Insert Smileys" image, as shown here:

Hope you all enjoy it! As always, if you have any questions or concerns let us know.

A welcome addition, Kevin. Good job and thank you!

Thanks, Kevin. I think that's a great idea even though I like looking at the smileys. Were you making the change just a few minutes ago? Reason I ask is because my smileys acted weird when I was trying to apply them to a post. I'd click on one and a new window would open with only that smiley in it rather than show up next to my post. I had to make them the old fashioned way and then put them next to the text.

Kevin, your post is really hard to read. Instead of a normal-appearing post, the text looks more like a photograph that someone pasted into a message.

Edit: Most of the post is a photograph/whatever, but I guess that was deliberate, to illustrate the message. Edited on Apr 07, 2010, 03:36pm

You're right, you probably caught me right in the middle of the upgrade. If you notice anything peculiar from this point on, don't hesitate to let us know.

Just to let you know, the smileys are still opening new windows on my computer, Kevin, rather than allow themselves to be part of my post.

Do you mind letting me know what browser & version you are using? I just tested it in Firefox 3.5 and IE8 and it's working correctly there.

Firefox 3.6.3, Kevin. Here let me try again to see if it has corrected itself.

I'm back. It works perfectly now. Must have been the transition. Thanks.
