New ways for porn sites to attract or keep subscribers

Thought I'd start a thread after taking Monahan's advice from another thread to basically help any webmaster with some ideas on getting more customers to their site.

1, I love the idea about the 5 free movies for a trial, it creates interest and if you have a price that matches these big sites or slightly under like $20-$25 u will see people subscribing. Most people don't mind paying for quality, I certainly don't , give an incentive to make people join.

2, Offer some freebies to longtermers, think creative. Even offer a movie or set a week (if you produce a few updates a week)or a free movie or set a month.

3, Make your site more of a community and get the models involved, people love that. Have an active forum where members can participate in plots and ideas for scenes, polls, behind the scenes, model interviews, auctions of underwear and competitions, I don't know think outside the box.

4, Send out a newsletter with free material to people who sign up for it on your site. Show them that you are unique and you want to reward people who are members to keep them getting this email and all the top updates, even to those that no longer are a member cause of financial reasons, its an incentive to get them back when they see a email of an update that interests them and they might join again.

5, Marketing is of cause the main thing, get on forums like this and connect with people who may of never heard of your site, get the word of mouth thing buzzing that spreads through a blog and models blogs.

6, Sounds mad but forget the leachers, people on here are right most of the time these leachers wouldn't pay for porn anyway, you are not loosing their money as they were never going to give it in the first place. Target those honest people that like porn and respect that the owners and their models have to live to see more quality porn.

7, Offer them a 5 dollar discount if they re-subscribe within 3 months, things like that.

So yeah giving freebies really works on the creating interest, I've seen lots of sites do this and go from relativly unknown to very popular with people flocking every week to see what the freebie is, yeah some won't sign up but it creates an interest and people will talk about it and you'll soon see people joining to see more.Once you've hooked them they will pay a price to get more believe me.

That's all I can think of for now but it's a start and others please add, it will be good to see what other ideas we can come up with. "Women are like tricks by sleight of hand, Which, to admire, we should not understand." WILLIAM CONGREVE

Some good ideas elephant. I have always thought there is a place for quality, and decent customer service. One of my concerns is the way American Vice folded. Can quality and good customer service survive in the current market? The Henry Ford quote of "sell to the masses, eat with the classes. Sell to the classes, eat with the masses," by Yariana on another thread holds some truth even though it must be over half a century old. Edited on Aug 28, 2010, 08:41am

Really, those should be strengths to be valued.

I think customer service is just as important as content.
You can have the most wonderful quality content, but if your customer service stinks, the site will sink anyway.

Another facet I would add is to identify and adhere to a niche.

There is tidal waves of mainstream hardcore video content out there. It is too easy for your content to be lost in it.

Just as there are sites which specialise in video there are also those that are more 'traditional' & focus on fine photography instead.

Both are equally valid & have their place in the market.

Judging from the fact that there are a LOT of sites continue to operate with good customer service and high quality material, I believe that the answer to this question is a proven "Yes", since this ruinous economy has been here for a couple years+ now.

I'm not saying that it's not challenging. Some sites, such as ALS Scan, have been quite blunt about how challenging things are economically and putting it out there that they won't be able to do the super-expensive things they have done for years, such as the Caribbean trips, if they don't have a membership base to support it.

But saying, "We're going to have to cut down on expenses" is far from saying "We're going under."

I agree that sites are wise to work e-mail lists, cultivate the better forums out there, offer some nice pricing and do good effective marketing of their sites. This isn't a "Field of Dreams" economy, that's for sure.
