Raffle winnings! Careful!

I first of all want to say a big THANK YOU to the site after another $50 win this week. I've won $600 now in less than 18 months and the money has come in very, very handy and helped offset my porno budget! I usually don't win anything when I enter prize draws or competitions but I've done very well on this site!

Just a warning though - the first few times I got the prizes no problem but the last couple of times Hotmail has decided the prizewinning notifications look "very suspicious" and I almost lost my vouchers having them sent to the junk folder!

So check carefully on the site each week and if you've won but have no e-mail, or have the e-mail but the actual voucher code e-mail hasn't arrived yet, check your junk mail folder!

Gmail did this to me as well before and for the newsletter.
What I did was setup a label and filter to put all PU related into a Label called ..... well PU.
It had the habit of tossing my stuff in the trash literally.

Great reminder to every GPL. Since 2007 Edited on Oct 11, 2012, 01:25pm

I had this happen as well, and actually had to ask them to resend the prize notification e-mail because I never found it (even in the trash). The second e-mail ended up there too, but since I was expecting it I was able to find it there.

And I won twice in my first 2 weeks of being eligible, but I haven't won again since. I still keep entering, though.

JFYI, if you choose Amazon as the payment option, you may get all your Claim Codes if you click on the raffle winnings amount at the top of any page.

Well, I guess I'm SOOL. Because when I got my one and only prize money announcment in my mailbox, I just figured that was it. If and whenever I needed it, it was there.
Now I don't know where the hell it is.

That takes a day or two after you win to show up, though.

I'm thinking it'll usually show up w/in a few hours of the drawing. Almost always w/in 24 hours. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

Maybe it's changed since the last one I won, but I remember looking there because of the first e-mail thing happening and it not being there for at least a day. We could always test this by having me win again .

Wow ... that was seven months ago. Still, hate to see you miss it if it can be found.

You could try searching your mail program for "giftcertificates.com" -- which is where you have your winnings come form. I just went by there and asked them to resend the winning notification to you so be on the lookout for a new copy of the email.

If you ever use Amazon, you might consider changing your raffle registration to have the winning from them. That way you can add it to your Amazon acct when you win it and have it there when you need/want to buy something. Just a thought.

Anyway, hopefully you'll get the new notice ok. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

It *should* show up once I've processed the win. Again, that's *usually* w/in an hour or so of the drawing.

The times were running longer this summer when I was recovering from my accident. But even then, the wins were processed w/in 24 hours. I think there were maybe two exceptions where it might have been a little longer, but really, those were an exception, not the norm.

If there's some other delay to when they're posted to your profile then I'm not aware of it.

But yeah, maybe you'll test it the next time you win.

We always suggest that you white-list email from @pornusers.com

As far as more wins ...

The contest really is as fair as we can make it. We've had some users think we pick winners based on who we like. Just ain't so ... the way the raffle system works, I couldn't influence the drawing if I wanted to. It's all handled by the system. Each ticket has an equal chance of winning.

All I can suggest is to review the raffle info page:
https://www.pornusers.com/raffle_info.html
... to see how you can make sure you're earning the most possible tickets per week. Don't overlook earning as many badges as possible. You earn a raffel ticket per badge each week you qualify so an extra badge can go a long way towards improving your odds.

We've given away over $50,000 to date. We like to think of it as a tangible expression of our gratitude for the ongoing support of our (great) users.

For what it's worth ... good luck !! Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

Wow 50,000$ already awarded is impressive. I wasn't aware that it was already that high. All I can say is thank you to TBP/PU because I have been very lucky since the contest started. I have increased my dvd library by many movies. Long live the Brown Coats.

I to am very thankful, I was able to PU some great items through Amazon. And if you buy items and combine for free shipping you get more bang for your buck. I try to never order anything at Amazon unless I get free shipping it is well worth it.

I can say myself having been winning off an of since the beginning. And in my own line of work I am somewhat of a logistics expert and can say that there is no pattern to winning or losing that I have ever seen, of course more tickets are given the more you are participating.

But I have won having done many reviews in a week and won with the bare minimum tickets. I have seen others win the same way. It seems it is like a lottery so to speak, certain amount of tickets changes odds and more tickets you have increase odds. But I can say I have not see ever any hint of favoritism. I think I have seen brand new people win right off the bat too. Since 2007

Another related point: If you're a lurking laggard, as I have become, don't get that thinking that you can never win. I just now glanced at the winnings for Oct. 9th and saw my name there. I don't know what the time to live for these gift cards are -- pre-redemption, that is -- but I just came close to missing the news. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I'm pretty sure the Amazon gift cards can redeemed anytime w/in one year. Once you add them to your amazon account, I don't think they expire.

I have absolutely no problem with the fairness of the raffle, and have never suspected anything being wrong with it. I attribute my winning (or lack thereof) to good luck for my first two weeks and bad luck since. My biggest thing is just that I don't join that many sites, so I don't get a chance to write reviews or make comments that often, which are the "best" ways to get tickets since the other ways max out at one per week (plus the badge tickets)

Thanks to gaypornolover for this thread.

If I might add a few other thoughts ...

If all else fails, if you'll email me I can usually help recover a lost raffle win. If you use Amazon, it's pretty quick and easy. eBay and GiftCertificates.com are a little more complicated and I can't always fix a problem with those. But I'm happy to check into it and help if I can.

There is one other reminder I'd like to offer.

Be sure the email address associated with your raffle registration is current/valid/working. Raffle payments are made to the address on record at the time of the raffle drawing. Changing it two minutes after the drawing it too late.

We would like to think that users always keep their email address current/working but this is especially true for the one associated with the raffle. It doesn't take but a minute to check your profile to ensure the address is a good one.

Again, thanks to gaypornolover for this helpful thread.

I'll second gaypornolover's thanks to PU - I know our input makes TBP more viable but nevertheless it's fun to participate and good when we get a win! It's a (very minor) shame that we can't use the winnings to buy porn subscriptions... but mine have kept me well in topping up my collection of racy photo books

NB in response to Khan's note about expiry - at least on amazon.co.uk these certificates are valid just for a year, I think from issue date - whereas those I get from using my amazon credit card seem to have approx 3 years. But if you have multiple certificates on your account, I think it's smart enough to use the earliest expiring ones first.

I've just got a while to go until that elusive 8th badge...
