Your Favorite Game! This week-end I had the pleasure of attending a Games Night with some close friends, and it was so much fun! We played an intense game of Super Hero themed Scrabble, Cranium and Trivial Pursuit Genus edition. What are your favorite games? It could be board games or video games or even sex games! I am a fan of World of Warcraft, although it's been a while since I've played. I am really into the Batman Arkham games for PS3 too! Ok I'll bite since know one else has. Board Games. Trivial Pursuit. Scrabble have an old rotating board from 1973 like mint. Sorry Game. Video: COD GTF Saints Row Need For Speed series. The entire Halo series I have all to date from the first. I have an original mint condition Nintento and the cheat adapter and book along with over 200 original mint games and controllers. I have not played in decades, but my favorite board game is Risk. As far as commuter games, I enjoy the Total War series. I now have Empire: Total War and Shogun2. A game I discovered by accident on You Tube is Portal. I have both Portal and Portal 2. They are great. You play Chell, a test subject that goes from test chamber to test chamber solving the path that will lead you to the exit. Controlling the tests is a computer software known as GLaDOS. halfway through the game you make a discovery about the GLaDOS and the facility that changes everything. a HAL 2000 situation is going on. We'll be here awhile if I list off all my favorite games. I'm still playing the Xbox 360 some, have an Xbox One and high-end gaming PC. I normally like RPGs, but I've been a bit more open on the Xbox One. I've played through Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 Complete and am working on finishing Far Cry Primal over the last few months. I'll throw a short list of my recent favorites. Red Dead Redemption GotY (played through 3 times). Skyrim Legendary (over 500 hours on most recent character, which is my 6th character). Bioshock series GTA V (Xbox One edition) Dragon Age Inquisition (PC) Assassin's Creed series (My guilty pleasure series, love the historical figures and landscapes). Fallout 3 GotY, New Vegas Ultimate and 4 (Haven't started 4 yet and refuse to read anything about it, but loved 3 and New Vegas) I try not to play shooters too much, but like Toad, I have played and finished all of the Halo games. My one thing I avoid is online gaming. I was a huge Phantasy Star Online player back in the late 90s (Sega Dreamcast), but have never recovered from the online game burnout it caused me. Portal is AMAZING. I bought the Orange Box for XBox 360 (a bundle of a few games for under 10 bucks) some years back and went into the game completely cold. I tooled around for a bit and had some fun. And then, as you noted, the real motivation of the game was revealed and I was hooked. It got me thinking about how in this age I (and I think most people, too) know almost too much about a movie or game before diving in. A large amount of my excitement for that game came from A) knowing nothing about it and B) having to discover all of its wonderful secrets on my own. Listen to Buried At Sea. | |

Skyrim is hands-down my all-time favorite RPG. I have logged in over 500 hours, as well, but just on one character. May I also submit for all-time faves: - Grant Theft Auto (the entire series) - The Arkham series - Tecmo Super Bowl - The THQ wrestling games for the N64 - The Mass Effect trilogy (probably my most favorite gaming experience ever) - Fallout 3 - Final Fantasy Tactics - The EA Sports NHL games on the Genesis - The FIFA series I could keep going, but I'll stop (for now). I can 100% relate, I grew up pre-video game era. but when they came out I was hooked I recall or more like can't recall allot of evenings spent playing Halo and COD online. I know play more simple games when i do and those I can stop and come back to like some conquest games. I would say I had more an addition to gaming then porn ever could have. I still have all my old games and units. But like you I try and avoid getting to much back into it. I am sure there are many that are in withdrawal or in recovery from the video game explosion . Mine are Hitman (all of them) GTA V Assasins Creed (all of them) Abes Oddysey I loved from way back Back also in the 80s I had a C64 and World Games, Winter Games and Summer Games 1 and 2 were awesome I remember BMX Flyer Lemmings Sonic when it first came out Still think my all time though is The Saboteur, simply loved everything about this, lots of stealth kills in wartime Paris, very underated game in my opinion. I'm like exotics4me. If I start to name all my favorite than I'm going to run out of space so here is a small sampling. PC games. Fallout 1 & 2, System Shock 2, every Command & Conquer, Master of Orion II, Star Wars Knights of the Republic 1 & 2, Starfleet Command III, Freespace 1 & 2, Arcanum, Diablo II, Half-Life 1 & 2, Leisrure Suit Larry, Space Quest, King's Quest, Ultima and I could keep going. Platform games: Skyrim, Fallout III(shitty ending), Red Dead Redmption, The Last of Us and Destroy All Humans 1 & 2. Board Games Trivial Pursuit Genus I & II Settlers of Catan Card Games Hearts Magic the Gathering (if somebody else brings it, I don't own it) Cards Against Humanity (if everybody is drunk) PC Games Dishonored This is one of my favorite games of the past few years. I consider it the rightful heir to the Thief franchise (I'm ignoring the recent Thief disaster) and an interesting magic infused, steam-punk world with a strong storyline with 3-ish possible game endings. The expansion packs also nearly doubled the game in size and were made to the same high quality, allowing you to play as a different character that was closely tied to the main story. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim A worthy successor to the excellent Oblivion, Skyrim has enough in-game content out of the box to require 150 hours of game play to complete. However, it has multiple expansion packs and a prolific and talented fan base that have modified the game to make it into one of the largest and easily the most visually stunning games available today. Many of the mods require computers that cost many thousands of dollars to run as the processing required is that abusive to the computer. Saints Row 3 Sadly Saints Row 4 was kind of ruined by silly super powers and a matrix parody, but Saints Row 3 remains true to the original game as an absurdist, extravagant and deliriously fun parody of Grand Theft Auto while upgrading the graphics and fixing some of the gameplay mechanics of the earlier games. The writing is hilarious and the game is addictive. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 Hands down, these two games are some of the most entertaining, engrossing, and epic RPG games I've ever played. I've replayed both multiple times and plan to continue doing so. The storylines are interesting, but the characters are the true stars, excellent dialogue and you can make your main character as evil or as good (or in between) as you like. It is becoming ever more unlikely we'll see another one of these games, but fortunately the original two stand on their own and remain available. F.E.A.R. I don't generally like horror games, this is the exception. Despite its age, it features some of the best combat soldier AI I've ever encountered. Having played America's Army online and competed against real soldiers, these bots behaved similarly and were nearly as hard to defeat. Fortunately your character has a super-powered ace up their sleeve and is able to slow time so they can function at super-human speeds. Unfortunately you are also hunting down a telekinetic, telepathic superwoman who possesses the fractured mind of an abused child. Good luck not pissing yourself while you play this, in the middle of the day, with the lights on. Hitman: Blood Money This may end up being the last good Hitman game. Absolution was a complete shit show, granting 47 the ability to see through walls and other silly super powers, and all but a few of the level designs were linear, follow-the-signs, type affairs. Blood Money included a strong story arc, missions with many, many different solutions, and a finale that was so iconic and so difficult that I honestly believed at the time it was released that the developers might have been waving goodbye to the series. The newest Hitman game is being released episodically and isn't expected to be completed until January of 2017, but early reviews are not looking good. Platform Games Super Smash Bros. and all the follow-up games. These are mindless fun that require a lot of skill to become good at. Adult Games We are in an era of the Adult Game Renaissance because Patreon has allowed a ton of small independent game developers to be funded by a small, loyal fan base. I personally am supporting 9 creators with monthly donations of between $1 ~ $10 (specifically ViperV, Pokkaloh, leave2gether, Marble Syrup, Anonymous Man, Pyorgara, Palaverous, Palmer, and Splendid Ostrich.) It all started with Off Beater trying to support adult creators, but when that site closed it's shop, creators, now realizing that there were paying customers out there, moved over to the more legitimate Patreon (which was NOT intended for adult content) and found that in some cases they can quit their jobs and make this their occupation. Fenoxo (who I supported on a different site) is earning $19,000 a month through Patreon. He spreads the wealth around to various writers, artists, and developers, but DAMN! So there is a ton of interesting Adult Games out there and I recommend following their development on the various forums out there. (The Shark's Lagoon is a personal favorite.) I have all the Total Wars & they still get a look in from time to time. Currently my main time sponge is XCom 2. Very moddable & very engaging. More on topic... I still play the old Artworx Strip Poker. It plays a decent game & is a fair challenge. The biggest difference is that Skyrim is a stand alone game played on your console while WoW is a communal/multiplayer game played online. Another difference is that although you can play Skyrim for countless hundreds of hours and not discover all it's secrets. The actual wold is finite with predefined borders that can't be crossed. Wow being online isn't as the makers can always add more wold to the game. What we really need is Skyrim II. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

Skyrim is already the 5th game in the series, but word on the street is the 6th game may hit shelves in the neighborhood of 2018. Rumor is that it may take place in Argonia. Since Argonia was always described in the books as a giant swamp, I'm hoping that part of the rumor is not accurate. Unfortunately, the sweet mods for Skyrim (and Grand Theft Auto) are only for PC and not for any commercial gaming consoles. As a console owner who doesn't PC game, it is incredibly frustrating. I actually do play some PC games, just not the ones that need a super-powerful graphics card, like: The Banner Saga - an RPG Tactics game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJJQgma4OLs Europa Universalis IV - A super-intricate, super-nerdy diplomacy game. Establish tax rates for your country, quell rebellions, open trade routes and negotiate the inevitable strife of a multi-cultural populous during the middle-century. The depth in this game is bananas and the learning curve is super sharp. I had to put 50 hours into a run-through game just to feel comfortable enough to play an "actual" game. Yup, what he said. Sadly. This is why I get really stressed when I hear that Intel is moving away from making computer processors and such. I understand that consoles have that "plug-n-play" advantage, but they are always years behind PCs in regards to graphics quality and customizability. To fully customize Skyrim, you pretty much need no less than 3 separate programs outside of the game. One of them is dedicated simply to advanced user interface control, another is dedicated to custom motions for the various animated elements. They've made it easier than it used to be, but it still requires some dedication to learn how the programs function and, if you are running a bunch of mods, making sure mods are interfering with each other. When I was playing Skyrim a lot (a few years ago), I was running about one hundred and forty separate mods simultaneously. Some of these were adding buildings or equipment, but most were designed to make the game more immersive, like better plants, weather effects, battles between warring factions, characters using torches at night, and so on. The inventiveness and attention to detail of Bethesda's modding communities boggle the mind. Now many of them are turning their attention to Fall-Out 4, but I haven't followed as the post-apocalyptic world of those games never captured my imagination in the same way as the worlds of The Elder Scrolls. I was pretty excited about this. Even though I now have a strong enough PC to run Skyrim with dozens of mods at very high settings, I'm still a console gamer at heart and struggle at times with the settings (GPU mostly). I'll be buying it on the Xbox One and from what I've read will get the remastered version for free on Steam for the PC. It surprises me how many games are still trying to be the next Skyrim. I was looking at the upcoming releases for the consoles and saw multiple games that are in the same style and looks as the Elder Scrolls series. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it.
