This weeks troll winner

As it is now Friday afternoon, I will go out on a limb and say that the raffle winners got theirs.

The other day I sent an email to the winner/shill. No response. No surprise there as would expect someone to use a fake email that is not even valid.

I propose that the winners prize to towards a fourth winner next week. To avoid even an appearance of a conflict or interest, I don't want to be considered.

This is not about me winning. It is the integrity of PU.

Will this thread get a positive response?

Will it even be read?

Hi Mbaya,

We'll proceed next week with the usual three prizes. Also, I deleted the other thread because it was a duplicate.

I just want to point out that sometimes users don't claim their gift cards till weeks later.

I apologise for all the issues this has caused. I'm still reviewing the reviews and being extra careful to spot any trolls or any reviews that don't meet up to the standard. Feel free to put in a review for next weeks Raffle - I look forward to reading it!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

All things in good time. We are a small team and everything has to go in its order of priority.

Believe me, we want many of these changes as much as you do.

The requests have been put into the programming team and as we're a small team, they've got a long list of priorities. We have put in the tickets and made the case but at the end of the day, it's not our decision.

In other news, Mike spoke with Ken in Phoenix and he says hello to everyone!

Like I said, this is down to the programming team. We have put in the tickets and it's up to them to make the final decision. We also manage 25 other properties so they're very busy. We have put in the ticket, made our case but at the end of the day, it's up to them to make the final decision. We want the changes as much as you guys do.

Wow.
Managing 26 properties means the staff is spread thin.
That helps explain why we don't see as much of you and the other staff as we'd like, sometimes.
And also explains why the tech team doesn't have a lot of time to devote to the PU site.

At least we now have an idea of what's behind the problems at the PU site.

Thanks for the explanation. I mean that sincerely.

What I mean is, some of the PU members seemed to think the PU staff were ignoring the site and members' requests.
But the reason was you're handling a lot of different sites.
With a limited amount of staff.

I wish you luck.

Oh yeah! I try and put in as much time into you guys. That's why I love creating threads and opening up discussion. Honestly, if there is anything I find online that I find interesting, I immediatly come here to open a thread and open to discussion.

Mike and I advocate for PU a lot and we try and push for changes. It just takes time with all the different properties.

Freddie, if you would look over Jimmy Regina's posts at the PU site, I believe you will find that he is trying to start a flame war, or at least acting in a disruptive way to the PU community.
He is the webmaster of Asian Sex Diary.
He was annoyed (to put it mildly) by some PU members' reviews of his site.
If he had reacted in a polite and helpful manner to the reviews, that would have been helpful to his site and to the PU site.
But it appears he is trying to start a flame war, where he is attacking PU members.
This is not helpful. It hurts the PU site.

If you don't have the authority to ban or suspend Jimmy Regina from the PU site for his personal attacks, can you contact other PU staff, and then, if you all agree that Jimmy Regina is a disruptive influence, ban him from the PU site?

I'm not saying to delist his site from the PU site.
I'm saying that Jimmy Regina membership should be suspended. Since his contributions to the PU site are negative in value.

And if you and the PU staff don't agree that Jimmy Regina should be suspended, would you at least tell the PU community your decision, and possibly the reasons for it?
Basically, we just want to know what the PU staff is thinking about Jimmy Regina, who seems to be a problem for the PU site community, with his personal attacks on the members.

Sincerely,
lk2fireone

We spoke with him and he expressed his frustration, as any hands-on webmaster would when he sees criticism against his site that he doesn't agree with. He feels like he has said his piece and he's ready to move on.

We agree with what he said to you guys was inappropriate which is why we reached out to him, to clear the air and address the complaints you guys were posing.

Regarding being banned, there has only been one example of someone being banned and a precedent does not equal a standard.

I also want to add that at the end of the day, we want webmasters to read their reviews. We want them to be hard. Now, as to be expected, not everyone will take what is said here as gospel and they will sometimes disagree. This will cause friction.

Surely getting new sites is not up to a programming team. Have you reached out to any of the suggested sites?

A polite disagreement is fine. We disagree with each other all the time.

Hurling insults is not acceptable.

Personal attacks are not acceptable.

Maybe we need objective standards since judgement calls cause controversy. What is acceptable from a webmaster?

No. I don't think it will be answered either.

On another thread I asked the question if PU has listed every gay site on TBP and Rabbits.

If not I think they would require little effort to get listed here.

Gay reviewers have complained that we need more gay sites to write reviews about. Are we listening? Edited on Apr 07, 2019, 12:24pm

Only one?

How many members have been banned for abusive behavior over the years? I would bet the farm it is a lot more than one.

Sounds like a double standard.

There is a huge difference between friction and abuse.
Every time a webmaster has gone over the line there has been a dropoff in participation. PU always loses.

Hey guys! I have just logged in and have caught up with the situation. Like I mentioned in this thread, we run 26 other properties so yes, reply time might be slower. Please give us time to access the situation.

I know you guys would want faster reply times and we're working at the best of our abilities. Yes, it's been three days but it was also over the weekend and as I've pointed out in threads, between Friday and Monday, there is a slower reply time.

I will talk to MikeC about the situation. He is currently out of office today but tomorrow, I will discuss it with him.

Hi, guys.

"What is happening with the "Sites Not Listed Thread"?"
- It is my responsibility to prospect sites for RR/TBP. That involves reaching out by any means available and getting them to agree to be reviewed (every site we review is with the webmaster's permission). Sometimes, I get responses within minutes. Other times, it takes years (literal years).

I have been maintaining a very robust prospect sheet for years and reach out to every single site referenced in that thread, along with other sites I learn about as I make my way through this industry. Every site you provide that I am not aware of is cherished (while some of these webmasters are great at producing their type of content, they are not always great about getting the word out that said site exists).

I wish I could have more info beyond what Freddie has already mentioned, but in short if you don't see a site you have recommended it is almost entirely (99 out of 100) because the webmaster hasn't responded to my inquiries. I want to get them all, especially because (if you haven't noticed) there has been a sharp decline in new Adult sites compared to 2-3 years ago.

"Who's decision is it and what is on the top of this long list?"

The person who ultimately decides what gets prioritized and what does not is Rabbit, of RabbitsReviews. As Freddie mentioned, we oversee over two dozen properties that are affiliated with Adult. Freddie and myself are the point people of the two biggest properties; RabbitsReviews and TheBestPorn (of which PU is a part of).

As for why the delay, the short answer is there is no short answer. Not to get into technical jargon (because I know zero about that area of our business), but making changes to TBP/PU isn't as simple as putting a couple of programmers together for a couple of hours to fix a bug or add a new feature. These sites have been operating on technology that is old. Very old. An example is a minor bug fix we deployed in the fall that resulted in hundreds of accounts being banned (which was a headache for Freddie and myself, as you can imagine).

So, in order to fix X, you first have to address the issue of Y, which is tied into the overall structure of Z. I hope I am making sense on this.

There has been some static and hostility on the threads lately and pulling back the curtain too much just know that there is a little frustration on behalf of Freddie and myself. These are the properties we are responsible for. It is our livelihoods and we will always petition for more changes, more adjustments and more features. Freddie, in particular, argues on behalf of PU every.single.day. She is your advocate, not your adversary.

I hope I have answered a couple of the lingering questions here. If you have any others, feel free to add to this thread or contact me directly.

More and better communication is needed. Talk to us if you want us to be understanding.

Instead of the general answer that it takes time to get a webmaster to respond, how about saying we contacted every webmaster of the suggested sites? I see you did that now, but this is long overdue. Perception is at least as important as doing something.

Don't let weeks and months pass without a status posting. No answer looks like neglect.

Telling us decisions about priorities are made by Rabbit does not tell us what you are suggesting and where our ideas stand.

Freddie should tell us how she is advocating for us. Take credit for doing the best for us.

Don't be a stranger. Edited on Apr 08, 2019, 02:35pm

If the technology is old, would it make sense to get your programmers to re-write the code managing the site in a more modern, easier-to-maintain-and-update language?
I'm sure it would take a lot of work.
But once done, maintaining and updating the site should be much easier.

Unless the conversion was done with a lot of new bugs.

Sometimes porn sites update the structure of site, and it it a good thing, making the site easier to use and navigate.
Sometimes, the update brings its own problems, making the site harder to use, because the software guys seem to forget about the customers using the site, and seem to design it for themselves, without realizing that customers are the ones that pay to use the site, and we don't have the control to fix issues that the programmers fuck up, that make using the site more difficult to use.

But there should be software languages that are easy to code and maintain, that can make the PU site more responsive.
Once you get past the massive amount of work needed to write the code in the first place.

Or is that a fantasy, and it's too much trouble and expense, to update the PU site with new coding in a newer language that is easy to update and maintain.

A simple answer would be best.
Talk to your software people, and give us an answer, please.
But PU staff keep repeating the code is old and difficult to maintain.
So why not re-design the site with a newer language, that would be easier to maintain? That has fewer bugs in it?

You guys are right, I should be updating the status on the new site prospecting more frequently. I hope with Freddie's daily engagement on the forums that you guys don't feel as if you're screaming into the void, but I agree the occasional "got it" or "on it" would be nice and appreciated.

As for the coding/programming question, you are right that the simple answer is to replace the language. But there is simple and there is easy and doing those things are not easy. That's not to say it isn't worth it, because it absolutely is, but it's a matter of allocating the appropriate time/resources to getting it completed. As mentioned before, we're a small team so prioritizing is of the utmost importance and that means making tough decisions.

And as for what kind of features, where to start?

We want to update the entire look of the site (TBP AND PU), have dedicated sections to straight/gay/fetish in the forum, return to the incentivized format of the old PU (with badges and levels) and more.
