YouTube ads are really annoying. Before Google took over YouTube, there were few or no ads on YouTube. Now that YouTube is owned by Google, you have to listen to ads that you can't turn off. The audio part of the ads run while you are watching a YouTube video, so the competing audio tracks are really annoying. And I don't know how you can turn off the freaking ads, or mute them if you want to listen to the audio portion of a YouTube video. Any suggestions?

Yeah - the ads are getting crazy, but I can't say I've ever seen an ad play over the feature. If that's what you're seeing, I would suggest just letting the ad run 'til it ends, click the X to close it if necessary, then move the slider on the feature video back to the beginning to watch it in its entirety. The ads are run off a script, so I run Firefox and use a script blocker it stops most ads like that. I can now use their product untracked and unannoyed by those run on ads. Since 2007

I run FF with NoScript and AdBlock as well - and I still get some ads. None running over the feature video, but they're still there at the beginning. Am I missing a way to identify the source of the ads so I can blacklist them? Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Thanks for the suggestion, RagingBuddhist. I just installed NoScript and AdBlock Plus, and I think that really helps with the YouTube ads. Before, the ads would play at the same time as a YouTube video. And some ads (from other sites) would suddenly start playing when I had different pages open on my PC. Now, I am hoping I will have less ads suddenly running on my PC. I certainly didn't want to listen to them in the first place.

Yes, those ads on YouTube suck the big one, and during election campaigns (like the one that ended last year in the US), they're totally nauseating. I posted complaints on YT. Hey, when I want to hear the Beach Boys sing "Don't Worry Baby," I sure as hell don't want some Mitt Romney ad showing up first. At least THAT'S over! Thanks to our esteemed members for tips on how to kill them. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.
