So why do they did that ?

There was a recent review where the re-viewee listed no updates since 2010. I have been caught in that web many times before. I think it was Catalina Cruz as and example who had extra sites that were never updated. Her site claimed updates often, but never specified which ones.

How long would you think is fair, legal or other wise to not update a site?
Its like buying milk in the store, yes it may still be in the cooler but if it expired 1 year ago the milk is no good so why buy it, unless you want to attempt suicide
via-lactos-Bos taurus, or death of cow milk for in simple terms.

(disclaimer: the milk reference was not a sexist remark and the fact the breast are often a topic here in no way mean I am demeaning the women and there breasteses ! ) Since 2007

I think it's fair not to update a site at all - as long as it's obvious, ie either a notice on the site to that effect, or with a visible update schedule where you can see there are no updates.

Business and priorities change, so not all sites can update forever; but that's no reason for the owner of the content not to still make money from it, and for us not to have access to it, if we're happy to buy a subscription.

Eg I recently reviewed Foot Factory, which has fairly slow updates now, but it is stated clearly on the site so I didn't mark it down for that.

OTOH, if the site states it is updating and doesn't, that's a different matter... but as long as you don't spring for an annual membership, it shouldn't really affect what you get from it in a month.

What? Milk has an expiration date because the chemical composition of the milk changes over time. Digital content is EXACTLY the same as it is one year to the next.

When you go to the car dealership, do you demand you must have a 2012 model car, or is a 2011 model car acceptable to consider purchasing?

That's what I thought.

It is only a problem if they try to mask the fact there are no new content updates, by rotating content, or having updates undated.

I have no problem with a site that doesn't update as long as they make that clear. If they're honest and I think the site is a good value then updates aren't necessary.

But... I don't think that many sites actually do make it clear if they aren't updating. One of my favorite sites was/is Water Bondage over at Kink.com. They used to be up front that the site wasn't updating but they don't seem to mention that now.

I see this all the time on many different sites.

Talent I have known for 5 or 10 years is introduced as new and barely legal. Videos and photo shoots I saw ten years ago are posted as new.

I have no problem with the recycling, it's like seeing old friends, and there is plenty of genuinely new material, but it annoys me when I am lied to, and they are not good lies. unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is gonna suck.

One of my sites (AMOC) was static (no updates) for well over a year, but I made absolutely sure there was no doubt about this on the front page, tour, join page etc. and the site kept running far better than I expected. I had removed the recurring membership options weeks before it became static so there were no problems therem

I don't agree with the "expiration date" comment. So long as potential customers are made fully aware what's in the site, then there is always room for retro/nostalgia content. In fact when I recently completely revamped the site and started it again, I got rid of all the oldest content and anything I didn't think was up to my current standard, and I've had complaints ever since from people who remember the old site and want to see all the old material again.

Lying to customers is unacceptable, and surely going to lead to a stream of bad reviews? Webmaster of SGC and AMOC.

I don't have a problem with sites or networks that stop updating with new content because I usually join a site for what's already there and not what I might download in the upcoming weeks. Of course I expect to have only a non-recurring monthly membership offered to new members since anything else would be less than acceptable good business practices.

I personally don't like the way ddf networks does business.
I find that too often their updates aren't true updates so much as leased content from other sites or worse recycled material from their own network. They still have so true updates but because they do the previous types of updates then it blurs the line on what's an update. Long live the Brown Coats.
