Does anyone know how to que files in DownThemAll?

DownThemAll is a free download manager that is simple to use, and works well.

But I do not know how to que up files for them to be downloaded automatically.

Also, is there any way to automatically set up files to be downloaded starting at pre-set times in DownThemAll?

You can enter a file for download in DownThemAll as active or paused.
In active state, the download for that file starts immediately.
In paused state, the file is in standby mode, it does not start to download until you manually start the file downloading (by highlighting the file and hitting the resume arrow). Otherwise, the file in pause mode will apparently stay in pause mode forever.

You can start up to 4 separate files downloading at the same time with DownThemAll.

But I would really like to know how to que up files to be downloaded automatically. And I would like to know how to set up files to be downloaded at a pre-set time.

I used to use Free Download Manager, and you could que up files to be downloaded automatically with that. And you could also pre-set the time for individual files to be downloaded.

But a few versions earlier, Firefox disabled my copy of Free Download Manager, and I haven't used Free Download Manager since.

Maybe I should check to see if I can use a current version of Free Download Manager with my current version of Firefox, and see how that works.

But any help on using Down Them All would be appreciated.

I use DTA, but AFAIK, there's no way to schedule downloads to start at a certain time. I would find it useful too, since my usage is capped by my ISP, but not overnight - so I tend to just add any downloads as paused, then just highlight the whole list and click go before I go to bed.

DTA is actually the main thing keeping me with FF at the moment, I've been wanting to at least try Chrome, but I can't find another suitable download manager (FDM is out since it's Windows-only). There are a few on the Mac, but I can't find another that with the most useful features of DTA, eg:

* Pattern matching, which is phenomenally useful for sites that don't offer zips; eg tell it to download http://smutcom/sets/latex/skintight[001:100].jpg and it fetches them all.

* Rename files before you download them; great when the zip or movie filenames make no sense and you need to try and figure out what they were later.

* Creating folders - when downloading, you can type in the destination path, and if the folder doesn't exist, DTA will create it.

I hunted around for some time for an answer to this a while back, and it is unfortunately... no.

I make do with just adding everything as paused, then highlighting the whole list and clicking resume - but I have to do it myself when ready.

There is a scheduler add-on that works very well - check it out on this page

It's pretty basic but it does the job and after using it for about a month I've found it reliable.

One thing I'd like to see would be an option to shutdown/sleep my PC when all downloads are finished. I've been asking the developers for that for a while now and still it hasn't been implemented so I'm wondering if it's possible?

Thanks for the tip, pinkerton. Now I just have to try it out to see how it works.
