Terrible news for Wonder Woman fans. Release date delayed. October 22, 2018 11:48AM PT ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Pushed Back Seven Months to 2020 By Dave McNary Film Reporter Variety Warner Bros. has moved Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman 1984” back seven months from Nov. 1, 2019, to June 5, 2020. The sequel, which is set in 1984, replaces Mark Wahlberg’s “Six Billion Dollar Man,” which has been taken off the schedule. Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution, said, “We had tremendous success releasing the first ‘Wonder Woman’ film during the summer so when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did. This move lands the film exactly where it belongs.” “Wonder Woman 1984” is the eighth installment in the DC Universe, and the fourth movie featuring Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The first pic earned $821.8 million worldwide, including $412.6 million in North America. The movie is the highest-grossing film with a female director, as well as the 25th-highest-grossing movie of all time in North America. Patty Jenkins is returning to direct. The film was originally dated on Dec. 13, 2019, but was moved forward to Nov. 1 to avoid being just a single week ahead of Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: Episode IX,” which opens on Dec. 20, 2019. Chris Pine is also back and Kristen Wiig joins as the villainous Cheetah. Gadot and Jenkins are producing along with Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Stephen Jones. ^It's not only terrible news but also mind boggling news because as far as I know they had already started filming and I doubt post-production will take as long as an extra six months. It's important to point out that Gal Gadot has four pre-production films listed on IMDB and two announced projects as well so if she has signed any contracts with any of these then it will affect any promotional touring she can do for WW 1984. It will be 3 years after the first WW that we see a sequel which in turn means that if it is as popular as the first then a third movie will be two or more years after that. Gal was about 30 or 31 when they filmed the first WW and she is 33 now. Seeing as they don't plan to release the movie until 2020 then she will be at least 35 when WW 1984 comes out and at least 36 or older by the time they want to shoot a third movie. From a purely business point of view. Waiting such a long time is a bad idea because their main star may not want to shoot very demanding movies like WW must be. Especially when she has two young daughters who she won`t get to see too often with shooting WW movies. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

Warner Bros removed the movie 'The Billion Dollar Man' from the schedule which opened the date up. The summer date is more lucrative for the franchise as students are out of school by then.
