Jpeg oddity I have extensive experience with jpegs and just found something I've never seen before. I'm guessing the file was incorrectly labelled jpeg. Or else it was copied incorrectly to your computer. Those sort of symbols might pop up when I try to open a file with an incorrect program. That's my guess, anyway. | |

I'll take two stabs at it and admit these were explained to me by others: Something to do with your browser and the site/exact url not being compatible. Something to do with the compression of the jpeg. I asked this question many years ago of a friend who sent me a .bmp photo. It showed up as symbols just like you listed. This was back in the late 90s. I wasn't even using a computer, but instead a Sega Dreamcast to surf the web. The Dreamcast wasn't capable of opening .bmp files. While I vote for Drooler's interpretation, here's an actual jpeg oddity. Basically, it's how a Playboy centerfold helped create the jpeg and the ramifications of it in today's "Bro" tech world. | |
