A suggested change to the raffle.

Sometimes a PU member submits a truly outstanding site review.
Instead of giving that member's review one or two raffle tickets, I think a better way of recognizing his/her contribution would be to give him/her first prize in the raffle, and let the other two places be filled from the random drawing.

I'm not saying that truly outstanding reviews are posted often:
I was thinking that the first two reviews by Shen were that good, and that the last review by pinkerton was also outstanding.

I'm not saying this should happen for every raffle. Only when a truly outstanding review is posted should it be eligible for the first place prize, as a recognition of the thought and work that went into writing it.

Any comments from the PU members and PU staff would be appreciated.

I could go along with that. Any way to encourage excellence is ok by me.

I am reaching when I say this but does anyone remember when the up thumb/plus button was being talked about on reviews and even forum posts? I was thinking about it back when the "member of the month" thread was first posted. That is one of those additions that I don't know the difficulty of.

I remember Khan liking it because it allowed lurker members to be involved and he thought it would lead to them posting. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk

I don't remember it. Was it effective in increasing participation?

From what I remember, Khan had the idea as a way to help members that did not post reviews have a chance at the raffle. But that was around the time Rick stopped the raffle so it never was implemented. I know we lost a lot of old forum posts back during the forum crash years ago. I would wonder if there is a way to search in the old posts to find it. It was discussed in the forum. The search on the forum brings up a lot of random posts. Just editing my double post. I have searched for the forum thread about the possibility of an up thumb or vote button on posts and reviews but cannot find it. I even went into Khan's post history and looked for it but there are way too many posts to go through. I am positive it was talked about.

I want to say Cap'n was one of the members talking about is since he was a very active forum member but didn't post many reviews. It would have been before 2013, I would even say it was prior to 2010. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. Even if PU decides to add a thumbs up button for reviews, I think that if an outstanding review is written by a PU member, that it's a more meaningful way to acknowledge the contribution by giving that person a first place finish in the weekly raffle.
And the PU staff could also add one or more stars or staff thumbs-up approval icons to the review, if they choose.
Whatever.

But the prize should be restricted to outstanding, impressive reviews only. And should only be given once in a while.
Unless the level of reviews submitted somehow improves a lot.
Which is doubtful, in my opinion.
Some people have the ability, the talent to make some great reviews.
But most of us submit what we hope are adequate reviews.

And the standard bar that the PU staff uses for reviews is pretty low. I talking about reviews that win one or more raffle tickets.

Khan was much more discriminating.
May he rest in peace.

I agree with your comments, but feel that Khan sometimes hurt PU.

I have never mentioned this, but he once gave me a mere one point for a review because it did not have the stats for the photo sets.

I begged and begged that he let me rewrite my review and have it reconsidered. He relented and have two points awarded for every review that I have ever written.

If we used his standard today, we might see two point reviews maybe once a month, if even that much.

By the way I thought he was nitpicking and we don't need that today either.

Overall he was great for PU, but today we have a different porn environment.

The idea of adding a thumb button on reviews would be to make it easier in keeping up with which reviews deserved to be considered outstanding. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. Where is the PU HQ located?
If it's local to my area, I'd love to drop by to meet and greet the PU staff, to see who's running the show.

And I'd like to see Freddie, so I can find out how much she resembles Jennifer Lawrence.

PS: I'm still waiting for Freddie's avatar. Maybe you need to hire a software guy who can fix the site problems.

PS: Freddie has 0 posts according to the PU computer.
But I've seen many posts from Freddie.
Were they all fake posts, that didn't count?

I think it moves around. The first owner and most of the staff lived near you and me back then. I think Rick considered Vegas home and there was Vegas Ken if you remember him. Khan lived in Virginia. When I first moved to the East Coast, I lived about 30-40 minutes from him. His avatar looked exactly like him. I have tried to make those avatars with the cartoon look but I am not very good at Photoshop. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it.
