Donald J. Trump and Dr. Oz are men with hearts of gold.

Dr. Oz thinks people didn't understand what he was saying when he said that schools should re-open to get the country going again. He said that only 2 to 3 percent more people could die from the virus.
What's the problem with an extra 2 to 3 percent more people dying?
Death is part of life.
Get over it.
Face the facts, people.
As a medical doctor, Dr. Oz is used to people dying all the time.

What a wuss. He is now apologizing to people who did not understand his message.
He is an expert in minimizing risks.
So if 2-3 % more people die because the school open early, that's fine.
It's good.
Because the country needs to return to normal.

A better approach would be to ban swimming pools in this country.
Did you know that 360,000 people a year die from swimming pool deaths.
Ooops. That the figure that Dr. Phil McGraw quoted.
The real figure is 3,500 a year from swimming pool deaths.
But think of the lives we could save by banning swimming pools.
And then we could open the schools, because we've save so many people from drowning in swimming pools. --------------

Dr. Oz apologizes for saying schools should reopen because ‘only 2 to 3 percent’ more people could die

Dr. Oz is backtracking on comments he made on Fox News amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The TV doc (real name: Mehmet Oz) faced backlash for saying on Hannity that schools should reopen to get the country going again — as that “may only cost us 2 to 3 percent in terms of total mortality.” He said those deaths “might be a trade-off some folks would consider.”

The Dr. Oz Show host has since apologized, saying he he “misspoke” when he minimized the risk and potential loss of life.

“I’ve realized my comments about risks around opening schools have confused and upset people, which was never my intention,” he said in a recorded video. “I misspoke. As a heart surgeon, I spent my career fighting to save lives in the operating room by minimizing risks.”

He continued, “At the same time, I’m being asked constantly: How will we be able to get people back to their normal lives. To do that, one of the important steps will be figuring out how do we get our children safely back to school. We know for many kids, school is a place of security, nutrition and learning that is missing right now. These are issues we are all wrestling with and I will continue looking for solutions to beat this virus.”

On Tuesday’s Hannity, Oz said that the first step in reopening the country would be to “get our mojo back.”

He continued, “Let’s start with things that are really critical to the nation where we think we might be able to open without getting in a lot of trouble. I tell you — schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in The Lancet arguing the opening of schools may only cost us 2 to 3 percent, in terms of total mortality. Any life is a life lost, but to get every child back into a school where they’re safely being educated, being fed and making the most out of their lives with a theoretical risk on the backside, that might be a tradeoff some folks would consider.”

Oz has been offering ongoing commentary to Fox News during the pandemic, with the Washington Post pointing out the school death comments were “only one of dozens of pronouncements that Oz has offered on Fox since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, during which the network has turned to him on a range of topics far outside his background as cardiothoracic surgeon.”

Earlier this month, Anthony S. Fauci, President Trump’s infectious disease expert, questioned another of Oz’s claims on Fox & Friends when he supported the use of hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malarial drug, in treating COVID-19. He said, “Although there is some suggestion [of effectiveness] with the study that was just mentioned by Dr. Oz .... I think we’ve got to be careful that we don’t make that majestic leap to assume that this is a knockout drug. We still need to do the kinds of studies that definitively prove whether any intervention, not just this one ... is truly safe and effective.”

Oz and other celebrity health experts have been busy as talking heads amid the pandemic — but there has been one misstep after another. Dr. Drew Pinsky — an internist who found fame hosting shows like Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew — was criticized for calling COVID-19 “way less serious than influenza” and “a press-induced panic.” He compared the probability of dying from the disease to being “hit by an asteroid” — though the U.S. death rate is now over 33,000.

Meanwhile, Dr. Phil McGraw, who is not a medical doctor (he’s a former psychologist) was trending on Twitter Friday after citing incorrect statistics to Fox News’s Laura Ingraham. McGraw, who like Oz rose to fame as an expert on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, questioned why the economy would shut down over the pandemic when it was never shuttered when people die from lung cancer, car crashes and pool drownings. None of those causes of death are contagious, it was pointed out. He also cited incorrect data — for instance saying 360,000 people a year die from swimming pool deaths when the number is around 3,500, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Your government at work.

Trump encourages protesters to fight local rulings of strict stay-at-home orders.
This is Trump being Trump.
He has no legal authority to encourage people to refuse to obeys local laws.
But since he personally doesn't like the laws, he is now encouraging people to break the laws.

However, Twitter says the meaning of Trump's tweets are unclear, therefore Twitter will allow Trump's tweets.

Twitter ruled President Trump's tweet appearing to encourage residents to protest their state's stay-at-home orders did not violate the platform's coronavirus-specific guidelines.

A number of communities placed under strict stay-at-home orders have taken to the streets to protest in states like Michigan and New Jersey. The president weighed in on the protests on social media Friday morning, appearing to be on the side of the protesters to demand people in Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia "liberate" themselves and reopen their economies.
Twitter ruled the tweets don't specifically violate the platform's rules about the coronavirus pandemic, a spokeswoman for the platform told the Washington Examiner on Friday.
"The use of ‘liberate’ in the Tweets you referenced is vague and unclear, and not something that allows us to reliably infer harmful physical intent," the representative explained.

The platform's guidelines, which were introduced on March 18, say the site "prioritize[s] removing content" that demonstrate a "clear call to action that could directly pose a risk to people’s health or well-being."
Trump later acknowledged some of the states had stay-at-home orders that were "too tough," during Friday's White House press briefing, but also said he wanted those governors to keep their stay-at-home orders in place.

The level of stupid with all of these people who claim we should get back to normal right now is pretty frightening and it's made even more so with their argument.

I mean how dumb do you have to be to claim that thousands of people die each year from the Flu, Heart Disease, cancer, car accident and whichever other example they use as though none of these things are happening while their is a pandemic.

F..k Me but the only thing that is down at this moment is car accidents and school shootings and that's only because few people are driving and schools are closed. The ten or likely hundreds of thousands Americans killed by Covid-19 will be added on top of the dead from other ailments and not subtracted from the total dead.

I've heard from more than one American and that includes Dr Oz that Covid-19 is named that way because there were 18 previous versions that we never heard about. How many Americans hear that and believe it's true without doing any research? Can you even have an intelligent discussion with these people or are they so entrenched in their belief that
they're unwilling to listen to anyone who says differently. Long live the Brown Coats.

Trump has had major failures.

But one of the most important is that as President of the US, he is supposed to guard the lives of Americans.
That should be his first priority.

But he places the importance of American lives below the importance of profits of companies.
And the rise of the stock market, which has been hurt by the coronavirus.

That's why he refuses to pay much attention to his health advisors, and says we don't need to wait excessively before we lift the quarntine and start our normal lives--even though the virus is still here, and could come back even stronger if we disregard the stay-at-home policy before the danger has mostly passed.

They are still working to get medical supplies to civilians and workers: to test for the disease, to protect against the disease, to develop medicines to treat the disease. The vaccine to treat the virus could easily take a year or more to be developed.

The stable genius is really a moron, who doesn't care about the lives of most Americans.
He does care about the lives of his wealthy donors and friends.
But Trump is a con man, willing to spread lies and false truths and blame others for any mistakes that he makes.
And so far, he is able to get away from paying for his mistakes.
And the Republican party is backing him almost 100%, calling him a hero.

Trump is the most corrupt president the US has ever had.

^ I wish I could blame Donald Trump for not caring about anyone but himself but this is one of those things that he isn't guilty of because he has never done it and never will.

How often in the last 3 plus years people have said that he now has pivoted when he hadn't because he can't do it.

You can't blame Donald for being who he is because he has been like that for a very long time and he wasn't hiding it. 60 millions Americans still voted for him and I'm not sure that most if not all of them wouldn't do it again today. If he is a moron then what does that make the people who support him on a daily basis? Long live the Brown Coats.

The magnitude of stupidity in the United States is overwhelming. You people saying the virus isn't as bad claimed and totally forget the stay at home is what is causing this. I would say good riddance but the fools who ignore the policy will spread the virus to others. Warning Will Robinson

Real news:
He said, she said.

Federal government says the states have the needed supplies for testing and treatment and need to do a better job using what they have.

State governments say they need far more supplies for testing and treatment, and are trying as much as possible with what they have.

'Delusional,' 'Absolutely false': Governors cry foul on Trump testing claims

NBC News

Governors across the country on Sunday pushed back on the Trump administration's claims that states are conducting a "sufficient" level of coronavirus testing.

Speaking with CNN's "State of the Union," Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, a Democrat, said it was "delusional" to suggest the states have enough tests to soon begin reopening their economies.

"That's just delusional to be making statements like that," Northam said. "We have been fighting every day for PPE. And we have got some supplies now coming in. We have been fighting for testing. It's not a — it's not a straightforward test. We don't even have enough swabs, believe it or not. And we're ramping that up. But for the national level say that we have what we need, and really to have no guidance to the state levels, is just irresponsible, because we're not there yet."

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, told CNN that the "lack of testing" is "probably the number one problem in America, and has been from the beginning of this crisis."

"And I have repeatedly made this argument to the leaders in Washington on behalf of the rest of the governors in America," Hogan said. "And I can tell you, I talk to governors on both sides of the aisle nearly every single day. The administration, I think, is trying to ramp up testing, and trying — they are doing some things with respect to private labs. But to try to push this off to say that the governors have plenty of testing, and they should just get to work on testing, somehow we aren't doing our job, is just absolutely false."

He added that governors have been "fighting and clawing to get more tests" from both the federal government and private labs, and are continuing to do so. He echoed Northam in saying there are shortages of swabs needed to conduct the tests, among other necessities.

"So, look, I think they have made some strides at the federal level," Hogan said. "I think states are all working hard on their own to find their own testing. Lab capacity has been increasing. But it's not accurate to say there's plenty of testing out there, and the governors should just get it done. That's just not being straightforward."

Public health experts have said testing would need to be at least doubled, or even tripled from current levels in order to allow for even a partial reopening of America's economy. Without such a massive increase, officials will lack a clear picture of who is infected, who can safely return to work, how and where the virus is spreading, and whether stay-at-home orders can begin to be eased, those experts said.

The White House's own recommendations, revised last week, note that robust testing is needed for states to begin easing coronavirus restrictions. The White House has said testing will be state-led, and that it believes enough tests are available for any state to move into the first phase of reopening.

Vice President Mike Pence said Sunday that the U.S. has completed 4 million tests as of Saturday (a number that represents slightly more than 1 percent of the country.) Pence said the U.S. can test 150,000 people per day, though daily capacity would double "overnight" if states would reactivate all labs within their state that can handle tests.

“There is a sufficient capacity of testing across the country today for any state in America to go to a Phase 1 level, which contemplates testing people that have symptoms of coronavirus, and also doing the kind of monitoring of vulnerable populations in our cities, in our nursing homes, that we ought to be watching very carefully for outbreaks," Pence told NBC's "Meet the Press."

"The numbers originally said that we only needed 750,000 tests a week," White House coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Birx told CBS's "Face the Nation. "We've long since passed that the new number coming from Harvard is the half a million a day."

"What we're trying to do is look at this in a very data-driven, granular scientific methodologies to protect community by community the testing that is needed," she continued. "At the same time, working with every laboratory director across the country that have these multiple platforms to really understand and find solutions for them on their issues related to supplies."

But governors have said are short the necessary equipment to conduct widespread testing. Speaking with "Meet the Press," Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, said he "could probably double, maybe even triple testing in Ohio virtually overnight if the FDA would prioritize companies that are putting a slightly different formula together for the extraction reagent kit.

'If anyone at the FDA is watching, this would really take our capacity up literally overnight, and that's what we need to get moving in Ohio," he added.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, said her state also has the capacity to "double or triple the number of tests we are doing but we need some of the supplies."

"The reagents and the swabs are absolutely essential," she said. "You can't process all these tests if you can't take the sample and protect it. And move forward through testing. So while our capabilities are there, these important supplies are not."

She said that if the federal government could use the Defense Production Act to have companies make swabs and hasten the creation of the reagents, "we would be able to know how prevalent COVID-19 is."

"It would take down the risk associated with taking actions to reengage parts of our economy because we would have a lot more data about how prevalent COVID-19 still is in our states," she added.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told "Fox News Sunday," that testing is "part of something bigger" that has to "be done properly." She said testing must be joined by a program for contact tracing, treatment and individual quarantines in order to be effective.

"We’re way late on it," Pelosi said of widespread testing. "And that is the failure. President gets an “F,” a failure on the testing."
