A good example of a network that is focused is kink.com.
Most networks have 1 of this and 1 of that and don't do anything well. I feel a focused network would get many customers who like a particular niche.

Question: are they a network in the usual sense? Last time I looked you had to subscribe to each site of theirs separately. Have they changed that or did I misunderstand their policy in the first place? Kink.com is great for quality and originality and if it was a true network (subscribe to one and get the other sites with it for the same price) I'd subscribe in a minute.

What I was getting at is that they have a similar focus. Actually, if you sign up for one you get $10 off for joining more sites. The last time I signed up I joined three because of the discount. I wish they were a real full network, even if they had a premium price.

I would prefer discounted additional memberships to similar sites in preference to the 'These are the extra sites you get, even if you don't want 'em.'

Thanks for clarifying things for me, mbaya. I'd go for a full network myself.

That's one group of sites that I'd like to get through a kind of network access offer. I'll be surprised if it ever happens. They haven't stopped or slowed down their updating and as far as I know they are still at the top in S&M/BSDM sites. I'll have to see if the 10$ off offer is still active because that's not too bad. Long live the Brown Coats.

I wasn't aware of a 10$ off offer, pat, must have a look myself. Their stuff is top-notch.

I stumbled onto this link during some aimless surfing, and immediately thought it fit this thread prefectly. Entitled, "10 Ways The Adult Movie Industry Can Save Itself From Premature Extinction".

Yes, an interesting list, but really silly too. 3D? Sexbots? Augmented reality? These are all mindless gimmicks that have been talked about for years with few results, and I seriously doubt they could suddenly save the day. What porn needs is a business solution, not some technological wonder that goes out of style in week.

A couple of other things; no, porn is not going Hollywood. Sasha Grey, and whoever the hell else has been lucky enough to be hired as an actress outside of porn, are extremely rare exceptions. Plus she plays a hooker -- uh, sorry, "call girl" -- so I wouldn't call that kind of role a stretch compared to how women are normally portrayed in porn. And Steven Soderbergh is probably the most mainstream director willing to cast a major role with a porn star, so I see this as more likely to become a bit of Hollywood/Porn Valley trivia than any actual model that will become the new trend.

I almost wish there was a government bailout, as I would rather have porn execs getting bonuses from taxpayers than a bunch of Wall Street execs. It seems the only 'help' they are going to get from the government is obscenity trials (thanks W!) and a weakening of the 1st Amendment. Plus, if the state controlled the porn business I bet it would only make it extremely cheap, but not very high quality or entertaining. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hardcore Commie works." - Gen. Jack D. I'm with turbo on this one. The only interesting one is the one about mainstream actors and actresses going hardcore. Of course I don't know how much money you would make compared to how much money you'd have to spend. Last time I checked Hollywood is still paying millions to most well know performers and they don't have to get naked and have sex for it. At least not on the screen. Whether the old couch session still exist is open for debate.

The fact that Sasha Grey was casted for the main role in mainstream movie is an acomplishment regardless of what we think of the finish product. She's certainly the first pornstar to have done that. The only other I can think of is Tracy Lord who has had a mainstream carreer after her porn life. She has appeared in quite a few movies as something other than stripper, prostitute or any role involving nudity. As far as I know they are the only 2. All of the others may appear in mainstream or semi-mainstream but it usually involves nudity. Long live the Brown Coats.

Yea, I didn't see one even half-decent idea in that whole list of 10...
