Tattoos and Piercings--Yar or nay?

This would be an interesting poll, IMO.

When viewing porn, do you enjoy seeing models with tattoos and body piercings?

Personally, I think a tattoo can be sexy on the right body and in the right place. I get turned off by piercings, however. I cannot stand them when they are in the nipple or vaginal area. It ruins the scenery.

I think tattoos are generally overdone today. When I was young, only bikers, sailors, and the real bad-asses had tattoos. A tattoo meant rebel. It meant something and was unique.

Today, tattoos are no longer about individuality and seem to scream conformity to the generational herd. In most cases, the tattoo has become a trendy fashion accessory, not a unique statement or right of passage for the rebels.

I have nothing at all against tattoos. However, sometimes I think that If I see yet another arm or thigh filled from top to bottom with with random, apparently nonsensical images, I will go running and screaming into the night.

Not looking to curtail further discussion on the subject but just so you know ...

There is an easy way to Suggest a Poll question.

A poll search of the word "tattoo" will show the subject has been touched on in several previous polls.

BTW, if the same (or similar) question has been asked w/in the last year we generally will hold off re-running it but beyond that, we don't mind revisiting a subject again. The poll search feature is an easy way to check that.

Oh, and if you're interested in past forum discussions on the subject, a forum search of "tattoo" will bring up several. Including:

One rather long running one ...
Tattoos on Women

One from a user looking for models w/ink ...
Best site for hot tattooed babes?

And one were users state their dislike for tat's ...
Those damn tattoos - once more

Though the subject also comes up in a number of other threads.

Again, I offer this just in case you're interested in reading more on the subject while you wait for other users to answer ... which I suspect they will since there seem to be a fair few here who agree that tattoos are a bit overdone these days. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

There seems to be a very basic age divide when it comes to this. Most younger people like them or don't mind them. Most older people hate them. This forum seems to fit that description very nicely.

My personal opinion: I don't mind them, and some actually do look good.

Yes, I think you are right it is largely a generation based preference.

I agree that age seems to be most common denominator when it comes to liking or disliking tattoos. I'm in the camp of the old fart so I tend to dislike them. There are some performers that have managed to transend this because they have a large amount of tattoos but I still like them. The two that come to mind are Joanna Angel and the newbie Skin Diamond. Skin has less than Joanna but she still has a good number of them. I'm fine with performers that have a few small tattoos here and there but less so when they are near the crotch or breast.

If anyone is curious to see how overboard a performer can go with tattoos then take a look at the before and after Julia Bond.

That's where I stand when it comes to the subject of tattoos, Pat. As to piercings, belly button I don't mind but I would hate to kiss a little piece of metal on a nipple or clit hood.

I see small, tasteful tattoos as tolerable. But nipple and clit piercings, tramp stamps and other massive tattoos I think have ruined the looks of far too many otherwise good looking women. I've lost track of the number of videos and picture sets I've not bothered to save while thinking, "Damn - why did she have to go and do that to herself?" Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

hmmmm - well, I tend NOT to like tats, though some I think are iconic on the actor - for instance, Belladonna's tat on her breast, or Jayden Lee's dandelion morphing into birds. I guess it depends on how I feel about the actor also. One of the things that puzzle me is I can't figure out what one has to say at any one point in life that will hold through for their entire life - and especially not if they are under 30.

Piercings, again not so much - especially nipple, lip and nose shoes (looks like they are dripping from the nose).

As far as Raging Buddhist's comment about "why did she", for me, that tends to get raised for breast implants and lip explosions. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

I think unique tattoos can be ok. I just don't like tattoos when viewing porn or erotica. Too distracting.

Everyone seems to get the same designs today. At the gym I go to, all the guys seem to have barbed wire arm-braids or Aztec lithos. Women have those ankle butterfly tattoos or a flower. Some have this really crazy stuff along their back or leg. I just think people might regret going overboard with it when they are older. It will look cool now but when you turn 40-50 and things start to sag, you are going to look ridiculous with that huge tattoo on your thigh or belly. The dermatologist is waiting for you and has the laser all fired up and ready to go.

I'm an old fart about piercing so a couple of hearings in each ear is about as much as I want to see. The tongue or belly button are 2 of the worst places to get piercings because the chances of getting an infection are very high so evetime I see a performer with one of those than the first thing that pops in my mind is that. The other is that girls with pirced tongues sound funny. They have a kind of lisp that is slightly annoying. I find nipple and clit piercings to be plain dumb. Long live the Brown Coats.

Much of a germaphobe?

If they're performers then I'm betting they have a couple of other types of infections to worry about. LA's recent condom law proposal definitely isn't about piercings.

This seems to be a part of the generational difference. Though every generation has a number of people who are pretty picky, the younger generations--whatever the hell they're being called this week--seem to progressively care less and less about what others do to and with their bodies. "If it's not my body, so be it," the philosophy seems to go.

A woman's more polite standard response to your charge that nipple and clit piercings are plain dumb might be something along the lines of "Then when you grow a clitoris, don't get it pierced!"

Though I'm hardly an expert when it comes to the opposite sex (some might even call me a quack), I suggest that when it comes to discussing personal body modification with today's "youth" that if you're not particularly approving of something then it's best to not get too preachy. Women in Western societies seem to be raised to maintain constant vigilance over what others (i.e., men on the prowl) are thinking about how they look.

So the responses to a "your tattoo/piercing/implant/whatever that thing is" comment can range from an angry "Go fuck yourself!" to a really depressing crying episode. And no one really wants any of that. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hardcore Commie works." - Gen. Jack D. Rippper, Dr. Stranglove

I don't think you'd say that I'm a germaphobe if you knew me. You might even say that some of the things I do in regards to germs are gross or at least borderline gross. No it's just that I'm an old fart who happens to also be a realist and I can't see the reasoning behind choosing to get a piercing where you have a very high chance of an infection.

See I look at it differently because I would think that since you already have other infections then you'd really want to avoid adding to your health problems by getting another infections. of course I'm weird that way.

I think it's even worse than what you said and I think the younger generations don't care about anything whatsoever whether that's themselves and their futur or others and those peoples futur. The now is all they care about and seeing their name and face on a You Tube video. Long live the Brown Coats.

You know, generally I don't like the extreme ink on girls. The "new" Teagan Presley comes to mind. She's sexier without the full arm, shoulder tat, IMO.

The only big tat I've seen that I can remember actually intrigued me was Jandi Lin's back tat. There was just something about her's that didn't detract (or distract) me from her prowess or libido.

Other than that, I don't mind the smaller ones at all, unless there's hundreds of them that don't connect in some artful way.

There was a thread on another forum I used to read (the mean one) about the ugliest tattoo. There were some god-awful tats pictured. One of them was a red gargoyle head, with a long tongue, right down there above the gal's snatch. Another with flames above her snatch. Just fuggly!

I cannot watch the new Teagan and haven't in a couple of years. I have no issue with all the changes she did to her body because she gave us plenty of amazing porn before going overbaord with implants, plastic surgery and major tattoos. I just feel a little sad that todays Teagan looks almost nothing like the Teagan that burst onto the porn scene. Long live the Brown Coats.

Ii think the reason why the women start doing the makeovers and tats is because this is a very hard business to keep up with. People get tired of new models after a while and they need to do something to get an edge or keep in the game when their stock falls.

I wouldn't want to be in the business as it is pretty hard to make a name for yourself and keep it up and on top of the game. This might mean new boobs, a new figure, new lips, tats, piercings-- anything to get the attention and rekindle interest. You might need to branch out and appeal to a new audience when the old fans leave. I think that's what the case is with teagan. She is just branching out to appeal to a new genre or interest. Expanding horizons. This is a business after all.

In a way, I feel bad for the ladies as it must be brutal to keep up and keep sexy and appealing. Your stock in the business depends on looks and physical appearance. Just like mainstream modeling. This is the business they have chosen though and that's the nature of the business. It's all about appearances.

I think the tattoos will get the interest of the younger audience, especially when the models age a bit and the older fans bail.

Plus she got hammered pretty hard for losing her babyfat and getting bolt-ons in more than one forum I used to read regularly. She attributed the lean look to her bad divorce, but a few blamed a chemical romance instead. She took it all pretty hard and vowed to build her butt back up, gain weight and enhanced the mams even more. IMO, and I know it's not popular, but I liked her lean look a lot. That's just the kind of body I go for, lean & muscular.

So there's the proof in the puddin', BubbaGump. Teagan was eager to please her fans and would change her body parts to do whatever it took to keep 'em happy fans. Unfortunately for the fans, her family obligations came first, as it should be and she didn't continue long after that.

I suppose you're right. I never really followed her but knew he she was. You have to keep up the interest somehow and its easy for customers to lose interest in this business. Not too many models last long in this business. They come and go quickly.

It's an unforgiving business for sure. I wouldn't want to be a performer OR a business owner. The hard-and-fast rule of the business I think is that you will never please everyone. Also, going through all the trouble and effort and all the piracy going on, I would not want to be in the business for that reason too.

I have seen models I really liked and stuck with them and then they changed and I lost interest. One was a performer named Donita Dunes. You probably never heard of her but back in the 90's she was my favorite model. Then she either got into drugs or felt she needed to lose weight and then she started looking really bad--not just a weight loss thing but she looked bad all over. It was probably drugs, I suspect.

I do lose interest though when a model gets tattoos on the arms and legs and such.

Sorry Gump, I wasn't disagreeing with you, merely augmenting what you said earlier. I shoulda made that clearer. I also agree on the lost interest when they get a big tat. There are several right now that I'm a big fan of and I pray they never ink themselves up too much or get face piercings.

In some ways, I think it may be harder to accept porn stars changing midstream than accepting them for what they look like to begin with, but sure, I too hate to see one whither away while still on the job.

I never really followed Teagan's personal life because it din't add anything to my enjoyment of her on screen porn performance and I suspect that it could actually make it harder to watch her have sex. Trying to know too many things about porn performers is not a good idea anymore than knowing too much about mainstream actors is. No matter how much I might still enjoy Tom Cruise movies. The fact that I think he's a nut job makes watching his movies less enjoyable.

I've said this in the past and until I get proof otherwise then my theory is that many porn girls alter their body because they know that it will limit the porn offers and that's a roundabout way out from them doing porn. Janine admitted that she started getting tattoos because she knew producers didn't like them and she wanted a way out. Yes it's a pretty extreme way but I guess she knew that she didn't have the willpower to do it otherwise. Long live the Brown Coats.

Piercings?
About 20 years ago, I stood in a long line at one of those new designer cofee shops. At the front of the line behind the counter was one of the prettiest women I had ever seen. As time passed and I moved closer to the counter, I basked in her lovliness and looked forward to being face to face with this goddess. Closer now and something was wrong but what was it?
Closer and it is becoming disturbing. She had a nose ring, in the center and dangling over her upper lip. Her beauty began to fade and the image of Adolph Hitler with his absurd mustache began to take her place. I couldn't do it. I bailed.

Tats?
A friend, about 20, got a tattoo of Mickey Mouse on the back of his right hand, at the juncture of his thumb and forefinger. It was quite cool. Crisp lines and colors. It looked great. For a while I considered something similar but never did.
Twenty years later, I ran into him at a party and while we were visiting, a passer-by said "what's that..... oh ...it looks kinda like Mickey Mouse."
Twenty years later I ran into him at a flea market and yet another passer-by said "Yuck ... What the fuck happened to your hand?"

Tattoos may look great, but they don't stay that way. unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is gonna suck.

^I remember going to Fort Lauderdale over 20 years ago and nose piercing were just starting. I was shocked when I saw a couple of girls sporting a diamond stud in their nose. How things have changed and in my opinion not for the better. These days a small nose stud is about equal to an hearing when compared to what guys and girls get pierced.

I'd love to know why your friend chose to get a Mickey Mouse tatoo and why put it in such a visible place? Long live the Brown Coats.

Well, I may be approaching fifty but I was a young, somehwat rebelious youth once and can understand how the young adult crowd can get caught up in the appeal of the tattoo and peircing craze. I think the one thing that differentiates this trend from those of my youth is the permanency of the medium. Its not like a hairstyle or trendy fashion item you can just discard when and if it goes out of style with the masses. Its with you for life, unless you want to pay the laser surgeon hundreds of dollars an hour for removal. The impulsive nature of youth can definately be a drawback when it comes to this. You tend not to think ahead ten-twenty years.

To each his own. For me, I am not really anti-tattoo. Some tattoos I have seen do look nice. They have just become too common and have lost their aura. Also, within the context of sexual attraction, I just find it unappealing and a turnoff.

At least piercings can usually be removed. Tattoos seem bizarre and ugly to me. Never seen one I liked. On a beautiful woman they are simply graffiti. Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

They can remove the stud in the piercing but I believe that the holes only appear to disapear with time. I don't think it's really gone anymore than a scar who fades with time is really gone. I also believe that some piercings like the tongue require that you remove a chunk out of the tongue in the size of the stud rather than simply piercing it with a needle. Then there are the new piercings where the owner adds a stud of ever increasing size so that the hole keeps getting bigger. You can do whatever you like but that hole is never going to disapear or shrink. No what you'll have are nice flaps of skin for the rest of your life. Long live the Brown Coats.

I've known more than one person with a tongue piercing, and unless you get some sort of huge one, they heal over and close just like any other piercing. And the "huge slab of skin" could easily just be cut off, and while it might look a little weird, but only if you pay attention.

Oh, and that "porn stars get tattoos to get themselves out of the business" is just ridiculous. Yes, Janine said/did it, but she's pretty much the only girl I've ever heard say that. Ever. Some girls actually wait until they get out to get tattoos because they know it will hurt their profitability if they do get too many of them, but almost no one does it to specifically keep themselves out of the business. Truthfully, porn girls get tattoos for the same reasons that any girls get tattoos. There's nothing particularly special about them in that regard. There's really not much to it than that.

^I can't speak from experience because I have no piercings but although the hole may disapear. I have to think that there will always be a hole because the body healed itself aroud it. It's just one that is not visible because the tissue around it hides the hole. The new kind of piercing where you insert an always increasingly large stud in the hole then that hole will never disapear.

Like I said it's my theory and I'm pretty alone since I haven't seen anyone else with a similar theory. Now in my defense. Janine may be the only performer to have come forward but I know that al least one Digital Playground performer who lost her contract because she was told not to get any other tattoos and went ahead and got another one
anyway. she already had a certain amount of tattoos at the time of her contract. Now there might be another reason why she pissed away a DP contract but I certainlky can't come up with another other than the tatto was a sure way for her not to do porn. Long live the Brown Coats.

anyway. she already had a certain amount of tattoos at the time of her contract. Now there might be another reason why she pissed away a DP contract but I certainlky can't come up with another other than the tatto was a sure way for her not to do porn.

Are you talking about Adrenalynn or someone else? Because if that's who you're talking about, she has been working at a tattoo parlor for the past couple years. So her interest in tattoos was more than just a "get out of porn" card.

And about "the body healing itself around it", it doesn't for a lot of piercings. When the body "heals itself around it", it's not that skin and whatnot form over the hole. It's that the body heals the hole itself and regenerates the tissue. The hole ceases to exist.

Edit: Just talked to someone I know that has piercings. The holes actually heal themselves from the inside out, not the outside in. Edited on Jan 24, 2012, 06:23pm

^No it's not her. As far as I know Adrenalynn never got a contract offer from DP or any other studio. The girl I'm thinking of also had a lot less tattoos than Adrenalynn.
I'll see if I can find her name but her choice killed her porn career right away because she had only shot a couple of videos prior to the contract and disapeared after the debacle.

I don't want to disagree with you or your friend but I have a couple of old scars that have healed and they fade with time but nerv go away. A piercing is a really a tiny scar that has healed so why would it be different except that it is so small that it can appear to heal and disapear. take alook at what somew people have written about percings. it's all hearsay but at least it's from people that have them

^What I read from your link Pat is that some close some don't. Since most piercings take a plug of flesh (gauging) to open the hole, some body places are more susceptible to closing than others. There are web pages devoted to the method of closing holes and reduce scaring. Some take surgery to accomplish. All in all though, I would say it was somewhat less painful to accomplish than having a tat burned off. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

Adrenalynn was a DP contract girl, it's just that she went under Adrianna Lynn at the time of her contract. One of the things about DP is that they trademark your name so that they own it and not you, so unless your leaving is mutually friendly (or you had your name trademarked before you ever signed with them), you don't get to take your name with you.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't know that she was a DP contract star. Althought I agree that it's a poor defense. She wasn't a DP contract star for very long.

I'm pretty sure that the girl I'm thinking of is not her but I can't find her name. The story is a couple of years old at least. Long live the Brown Coats.

Having seen Teagan P in person in the last year - she was featuring at my fave strip club - I've got the basis to dispute this. In person, close up, she looks pretty close to the hot honey that burst onto the porn scene - and she was so hot that off duty SC dancers wanted to see her from the front row and invited me to sit with them - one in my lap and one sitting next to me, kissing me every minute or so, she was so delighted at what she was seeing onstage. Teagan is SEEEEEEEXXXXYYY and that ass is amazing! Her vids are no great shakes these days, but as a feature performer, Teagan is awesome!!

^I have never seen her in person so I can't judge how much better she looks in real life vs on video but it doesn't change the fact that todays Teagan looks a lot different than the 19 years old who started doing porn in 2004. The plastic surgery, multiple implants and large tattoos have altered her looks to where she my still be a beautiful looking woman but she does not look like she did back then.

I don't want to complain because Teagan gave us plenty of great movies so anything that she chose to do with her life and career in later years is fine with me. Long live the Brown Coats.
