human papillomavirus Michael Douglas has talked about getting throat cancer from having oral sex. He has recanted his statement regarding that in fact he did get his cancer that way and now says he was just pointing out that is a way to get it. But.... Which brings up the question - Are porn star more likely to have a higher rate of cancer than the normal public? The link below is some information on this subject (I'd personally never heard of it) from the CDC. http://www.cdc.gov/std/HPV/STDFact-HPV-and-men.htm Makes me wonder. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

We'll probably never hear the true reason for his throat cancer but I wonder if he decided to change his story once he realized that since neither his current wife nor is past one has the HPV virus then he certainly didn't contract it from them and therefore that means he cheated on one of them and since he's been married since 2000 to Catherine Zeta-Jones then she is likely the one who got cheated on. Long live the Brown Coats.

Perhaps Pat, but I don't think, from what I've read, that HPV necessarily manifests itself by a specific symptom. What I mean is, one person has the virus but there are no symptoms but it can be passed on. A lot of virus's are like that. Yet in reading your post, I read into it that you know for a fact neither Catherine Zeta-Jones or Diandra Luker carries the virus. Or perhaps you were just saying this is a supposition as to why he recanted the statement. The cancer was diagnosed in 2010 and at that time he attributed it to ... "a combination of stress, his previous alcohol abuse, and years of heavy smoking." Regardless, the point wasn't so much about Michael Douglas's cancer but rather how the HPV is transmitted and what, to any effect, it has in the porn industry. At any rate, just be careful of what you eat - could be bad dates. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. I would think smoking would be a more likely cause than just oral sex by itself, but of course a screaming headline like "Oral Sex Caused Douglas' Cancer" makes a way better (if as of now unproven) tabloid front page than some boring bullshit about more study being needed--I wanted to be scared now, damnit! Sex sells, but scary sex "facts"--sourced from the encyclopedia of some writer or editor's ass--seem to sell even more. An article from Men's Journal last year mentions some risk factors, such as "[l]osing your virginity at an early age and having many sexual partners boost your chances; so do tobacco use and a history of genital warts." Granted Men's Journal is definitely not a health publication, especially considering that it seems to be obsessed with how men can have more sex, get six pack abs, and regularly engage in some real manly shit. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hardcore Commie works." - Gen. Jack D. Rippper, Dr. Stranglove

^ I can only point out that the cause of his cancer is unknown. He's the one that mentioned oral sex and then the CDC backs him up as a possible source. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. I don't believe the cause-effect reaction of HPV is necessarily all that fast acting. I recall having read something that women who have had HPV can develop cervical cancer many years down the road and there is an established causal link to this. I would assume he was a very sexually active fellow throughout his life, and I wouldn't doubt he had HPV at some point along the way, even if it was asymptomatic. It is a very prevalent illness, and while it may not have been the cause of his cancer (more likely his years of drinknig and smoking), perhaps it will convince some more people to get vaccinated, or have their children vaccinated. My guess is pretty much every single porn star, ever, has had HPV at some point, its highly transmissible and until recently wasn't really tested for much. I got an STD test a few years ago when my lady went on the pill, and there still was no HPV test for men (according to my doctor). Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars. Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.
