SSL and TLS Security on Sites

So with the recent repeal of regulations in the US on what ISP's can do with your web browsing information, it got me to thinking about whether sites use encryption or not. I've found about half the porn sites I access use https rather than http, and half are unencrypted.

I've decided to start noting it in my reviews of sites.

Anybody else have any thoughts on whether this is necessary or not? I'm thinking it should start to become something to strongly pay attention to.

That's a very good idea. I think https should be standard. with http everything is open. ISP will see everything including your login and password! If pornsite has your credit card and they don't use https, then what other security issues they might have?

I'd prefer it if all sites used HTTPS. Including this one (ahem).

How https will give you more security ?
It protects only data while it is transmitted. It does not affect meta data.

I would be more interested in knowing you visit sex.com rather than seeing the same naked girl you watch.
Which i can since https does not hide the url. My account plus your url and i know exactly what you watch.

the most obvious way it improves security is when entering your User ID and password. Encrypting that is one of the most basic things you can do.

In addition to protecting your login details, it also protects, I assume, the exact member pages you visit at your membership sites.
Otherwise, the ISP will keep a record of what pages you visit at each porn paysite, maybe how long you spend at each page, etc., what you download, etc.

So, if https can keep your actions more private, I'm all for it.
