The wild west

Being somewhat new at paying to download porn, I was really taken aback how crazy things are out there and that normal protections don't seem to exist.

I joined a site that took me to Epoch to sign up. I was immediately declined and brought to a second site, no name that I can recall. I now understand that's not a good sign. The next day, I checked my CC account online and saw I was billed by both sites. The contact info for the 2nd site was no good and I ended up canceling my account with Epoch so as only to be charged once. But I knew the day of reckoning was coming. Nothing worked on this site as far as contacting a real person and I had no way to cancel so as not to incur another charge.

Lo and behold, I got charged by this site a recurring charge today. I went through hell. I don't understand how a processor whose name appears on a credit card statement can say they have no record of my account and get away with it. I was on a conference call with my bank with them and they pointed out another site, SBW (Secure Billing Worldwide.) The first site was pay-dbmem, or something like that.

My bank could only remove the charge. They cannot prevent recurring billing. They said they will send a new card but I;d be responsible for the next 2 recurring bills. Why send a new card then? And how in the world can someone who doesn't exist according to the bank get away with this. Well, they didn't get my money but caused a bit of a nightmare. And my cheapo bank who I've been an A+ customer for years was too cheap to expedite a card to me card via fast mail. I gotta wait 2 weeks.

I know a lot about the credit world being involved with processors at work but I never could've dreamt this scenario possible.

Would anyone care to name some processors to keep away from?

Follow the money - and they want yours (the banks) with nothing in return. Go Credit Union - at least it's owned by the members.

This past Jan when the thieves were posting 9.79 charges to everyone it took very little time and headache to clear it up with a new card. The worse part was having to fax a report to the third party provider (I've yet though haven't figured out what exactly they provide though I think it really was the card itself, though the Credit Union sent me my new one.) If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

I can say that Epoch is pretty commonplace, and I've never had any trouble with canceling dozens of memberships through them. Never really had any problems that I can trace to a specific payment processor to be honest. Better to be pissed on, than to be pissed off.

I feel your pain, jook.
Been there done that.
You're right about one thing that stands out ....
Your bank sucks.
Having been a victim, and similarly bogged down with your kind of troubles ....facing nerve-wrenching apathy on the part of this kind of legal larceny .... actually more times than I care to admit, ......I've been known to simply lick my wounds and wait it out 'till the smoke clears.

Getting back to your bank's unwillingness to go that extra mile in order to pull you out of that mess ..... I'd suggest you find one who'll be in your corner and stay there through the full 15 rounds.
.

The two main high-profile banks with which I've settled on have given me absolutely no problems helping me out. .... ideally by simply closing an account I was roped into and issuing a new card .....along with it scratches any responsibility on my part to acquiesce to the sinister practice of forced renewal.

Another practical avenue to take that'll protect your interest to the maximum is to insist on billing through PayPal, CCBilling, or the aforementioned Epoch.

Paypal now has their foot in the door of internet billing-utopia .....namely themselves officially already in the banking business ...which means you can now jump right in there and take advantage of full banking privileges ...ie., open a comfortable yield account; get a card, and I have strong reason to believe they'll come out swinging a hell'va lot harder to protect your interest in every phase of internet purchases.

Sorry, it's the Mofos site, specifically Latina Rampage. Billing sites were, as mentioned, SBW (as per the billing site) and the billing site that appears on my statement, pay-dbmem.com. I had no problem with Epoch and I don't believe they are at all shady even though the problem seemed to start when a message that stated that Epoch declined my card. Still, they didn't bat an eyelash when it came to a refund. For the life of me, I don't see how the number listed at the site I was billed at, pay-dbmem.com, can deny any record of me or any responsibility and the bank buys it.

Thanks, god of wisdom . I told my bank to save their 49 cents on postage and that I'd keep my card as a souvenir, haha. I hate when people act gratuitous and shit, and that's exactly what they did. But gratuitous ends when money comes into the picture; they wanted to charge me to send out a card via 2nd day delivery... $29! Yeah, I know banks are hurting and I should treat them like a charity and help them, but I decided to be Mr. Grinch. The woman actually put me on hold for a few minutes when I asked that they send it overnight gratis using the argument they had more to lose by sending it Pony Express. I was using this credit card to pay for every little purchase to rack up points and in turn they were probably making a fortune on the merchants I was using. They're brainless drones though and there is something to be said for credit unions. But don't get me started, haha.
