I haven't noticed any trend toward making cancellations more difficult, though I have noticed that for several months not all of my transactions through ccbill get posted when I access them by credit card number and email address. It just seems ad hoc. My solution to that is to always copy and paste the subscription number into the records I make of my transactions. Then I can search for that particular transaction at ccbill very quickly when I want to cancel. Yes, they also send an email with the same info -- usually -- but I think a little redundancy is worth the bit of extra effort for safety's sake. Anyway, it is a good idea to watch it when signing up. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Hmmmm Funny you asked, I had three such problems. All very popular sites and popular billing. I thought was just me, lol But even asked support to cancel they did or so they said and luckily I managed to get it before anoher month. Took two weeks to get a cancel. hmm wonder why the issues? Every time I join a site where the billing-co. is not CCBill or Epoch, I make sure of ways to cancel - thoroughly.. Copy a link to cancel or write down the link... Had a lot of funny stuff over the years with diffenret sites, but lately no problems with cancellations... "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

I don't have more than a few active memberships at any one time, so I have not experienced any cancellation issues personally. Also, my last two memberships were 1-year subscriptions to Hegre-Art and Met-Art, and they were non-recurring, so they just expired, I did not cancel them. As far as having half a brain: If money gets tight, you tend to focus on the short term. Who gives a flying f---- what happens 6 months from now, if you are scrambling to pay your current bills? You've had some massive bankruptcies in the financial sector recently, the stock market is getting creamed, and the pain is spreading.

This is a subject that has appeared in today's poll. Companies do a number of things when the going gets tough so maybe "all of the above" may well apply when considering what sites may do. 1. Better quality - although that will mean a much higher price. 2. Cheap tricks like you have been talking about - not cancelling, insidious small print, secret sign ups, longer notification for cancellation, etc. 3. Higher price for the same quality. 4. Same price for worse quality. This could include shooting a ton of stuff simultaneously with the same models then releasing it for the next year as brand new updates, or just increasing subscriptions. Others may do the opposite, and go down the cheaper subscription for the same content road. 5. Takeovers and consolidation. Sites could join up and share their portfolio of porn. 6. Tons of sites going bust. You see all of those things happening in big business. Talking about the porn business as one entity, as in today's poll, may be a little misleading as different types of company with different CEO's deal with hard times in different ways. As in real life this probably means the fittest, the best, the most innovative, the most deceitful, or the nastiest will survive. So a real mixed bag. Edited on Nov 23, 2008, 09:32am

You know, this thread was started a month and a half ago, and I was just looking through the new listings at TBP. You know, there have been scads of new listings over the past 30 days -- 181 that have a "site birth" within the past 2 months. Kinda weird how so many businesses are in huge trouble and how much people are cutting back on holiday spending, yet porn just seems to keep growing, with new offerings, at what would seem to be a wildly "speculative" rate. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. Edited on Dec 07, 2008, 10:58am
