In 1973 06/20/73 The U.S. Supreme Court delivered its decision in the landmark case Miller v. California, establishing the "Miller test" for determining what is obscene material. Should be a national holiday. Warning Will Robinson

In the spirit of conservative Republican appointees to the Supreme Court, "We honor landmark decisions by prior Supreme Court justices, but if we don't agree, we go our own way." So abortion rights and anything else can change. What was established can be non-established. Private businesses can refuse to serve individuals they don't respect, based on religious beliefs. People associated with abortion can be tried for murder. The woman who has an abortion, the doctors and nurses who perform it.

I have a theory and it goes something like this. Americans consciously or unconsciously love to re-write their history to such a degree that past events are, at best, looked through rose colored lenses or at worse through distorted lenses that alter those past events to such a degree that they are no longer factually accurate. Let's pick one that is in the news. Slavery: How many Americans know or care that their Country was responsible for the enslavement of 6 to 8 millions Africans over a period of about 250 years? That some of their ancestors were probably salve owners? How many care that many of their most revered Founding Fathers were themselves slave owners? How many Americans think that some kind of reparation should be paid for those fairly recent sins? How many today still believe that a person of color is less than themselves? How often do Americans revere criminals because they have glamorized their awful deeds? people like Jesse James, Bonnie and Clyde, Al Capone to name just a few. Is it any surprise that this kind of re-writing of history would seep into the court system? Past court decisions are being interpreted in such a way that they no longer mean what they did when they were first implemented while others create new laws that basically cancel previous ones. It also doesn't help that Americans can appoint a Judge to a lifetime post. I understand why in theory it might make sense because a judge for life wouldn't technically be in fear of losing an election or appointment by some of the decisions he/she makes but the reality is that those judges are indebted to the people who put them there in the first place and since they can't be easily removed than they can support those people who gave them those cozy jobs and that leads to utter corruption of the legal system. Long live the Brown Coats. Edited on Jun 24, 2019, 09:09am
