Does your collection skew to one or two specific niches? It’s a pretty safe assumption that many of us here are porn collectors rather than just porn viewers. I don’t want to define the term collector in this context but I think a porn viewer is someone who is happy going to a Tube site and finding a scene and masturbating. That viewer may not be able to identify any favourite models, directors or sites. The casual viewer might not have ever subscribed to a site. But a collector is someone who has specific interests, has favourite models, directors and sites. The collector is someone who has porn stored in files and probably has some mechanism by which he or she keeps track of it all. As anyone who has read any of my reviews, replies and comments over the past 12 years here it’s obvious that a big interest of mine is anal play including anal sex. A good example of how this plays out is that I really don’t have any interest in girl/girl stuff – unless it’s got an anal theme. Subscribing to an all-girl site is simply something I wouldn’t do. But, as an example, I have a lot of Jay Sin stuff because even though he has a lot of girl/girl stuff it’s always ass oriented. Likewise with Lesbian X. I’d normally have no interest in this site but a lot of what they do involves anal play so I download that. A couple of days ago I got to wondering how much of the porn I have is anal-themed. It became quickly apparent that given the size of my collection there was no reasonable way for me to figure out how many anal scenes I have. So I came up with a bit of an alternative: I could at least count how many titles I have in my collection that have some indication of anal sex in them. Terms such as “anal,” “ass,” “asshole” and “booty” could give some indication of an anal theme. The problems with this were obvious. For one, I have many titles where the name of the movie or site gives no indication of any anal scenes in them. For example, Bang Bus has occasional anal scenes but those wouldn’t be counted by my method. The other problem is in how I structure my collection. I use a MS Word table that lists the title (movie or site name) in the first column, the stars in the second column and then a column with the drive number where I have it stored. One title may be a movie where I only downloaded one scene. In Lord of Asses 4, for example, I only downloaded one scene. But contrast that with another title, Tushy.com, where I have 300+ scenes. Obviously searching by title wasn’t going to give any good indication of how many anal scenes I have. But at least it would give me some idea of anal in my collection. I currently have 4319 titles in my collection. These are movies from sites like Evil Angel and Jules Jordan and sites like Tushy Raw and Legal Porno. Of these it turns out that 1228 of these have a name that gives a good indication that the movie or site is anal-themed. That’s just over 28%. If I had to guess, and knowing my collection, I’d say that the percentage of anal scenes is likely much higher and may even be near 50%. (On a related note, I’m always on the lookout for first anal scenes and I tag them as such. I currently have 71 first anal scenes tagged though there are likely a few more buried in there.) So what about the rest of you? I know many of you have certain interests too. Does your collection skew heavily to one niche? How do you keep track of what you have? Inquiring minds want to know! | |

I also would not be able to give a percentage, but lesbian scenes would easily dominate. I particularly enjoy scenes where one woman dominates the other. I almost have to go to sites that have either BDSM or femdom scenes to find these. Most lesbian sites don't have a dominance theme. Warning Will Robinson | |

Biker and Loki - I'm better off that you guy are in that my primary niche is pretty common. Obviously I don't have to do a lot of work to find anal scenes and there are tons of sites catering to it. Also, there are lots of anal scenes on non-anal sites. I guess I should count my blessings for being so ass-obsessed! | |

I too am a massive anal fan and most of my fav movies at least 70% will be anal based, massively into lesbian porn myself but a scene will rocket into my favs if includes anal licking too, that said I love now very much switching about niches when watching porn, I've amassed a large collection of my fav images which are very random cause sets don't do it for me really, I like to be surprised at what image comes next and I'm a bit like that now with vids I like the element of surprise so my collection is all in favs (awesome+), awesome or good, anything I look at and ask myself if I'd want to watch again and if I think no or nothing stands out as a watch again I simply delete. My main interest is in solo female videos which are more like centerfolds come to life, rather than solo masturbation. Toys and the like get in the way of what I like to see, so posing/showing off is preferred to the back end of a dildo. Solo video material, unfortunately, tends to either be too soft or toy-oriented. It's odd, really, that sites like ATK have exactly the kind of material I like in their print (picture) catalog, but their videos veer far too much toward masturbation for my liking. It just goes to show that even in solo stuff, there are quite a few niches, so you can't just say one collects solo material. So aside from spread pussy and ass tease solos, I collect busty-themed videos, good quality amateur and commercial porn that ends in well-captured facials, and just about everything associated with models/performers I particularly enjoy. Let's just say I stay busy with this hobby. I like to say I enjoy porn more than my baseball cards (and I love my baseball) because unlike cards, you can do something with erotica besides just look at it. But let's be honest; the day of the collector is quickly passing on, in almost every respect. Few kids want to be encumbered by "stuff" anymore. They prefer to be lean and mobile, and things/collections only anchor you. And I can say, as probably the home of the largest collection of solo female vintage material anywhere--most of it on videotape and long out of print--that this stuff DOES anchor you down! | |
