http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...youts-rocket-2m.html Making a killing: Owners 'deliberately harming pets for insurance money' as fake compensation payouts rocket to £2m Insurers say some owners have deliberately killed their pets in order to receive a claim By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 2:03 PM on 14th November 2011 False claims on pet insurance are soaring with some owners deliberately maiming or even killing their animals to get a payout. Fake claims in the UK on pet policies have almost quadrupled in the last year making it the fastest growing area of insurance claims. The injuries to animals mirror the 'cash for crash' claims made on cars - where vehicles are deliberately damaged for the insurance money. Figures from the Association of British Insurers have revealed there was £1,929,900 worth of pet insurance fraud detected last year - up from just £420,000 in 2009, although the true scale is thought to be far higher. According to insurers some owners have even killed their pets so they can claim an early death payout. Others have injured their pets in 'fake accidents' to cover up previous injuries or conditions that were not covered by their policy. Some pets go mysteriously missing because some policies pay out if a pet is lost or stolen, while some animals may never have existed in the first place. A further scam is to include claims for vet treatments which have not been carried out or put through at up to double the cost of what they should be. Experts believe some vets must be involved in carrying out the scams and say some healthy pets have even been deliberately put down. Shocking figures: Otto Thoresen, director general of the Association of British Insurers. The organisation revealed there was £1,929,900 worth of pet insurance fraud detected last year Shocking figures: Otto Thoresen, director general of the Association of British Insurers. The organisation revealed there was £1,929,900 worth of pet insurance fraud detected last year Carys Clarke, a solicitor who works as an insurance fraud investigator for law firm Berrymans Lace Mawer, said: 'Between 2008 and 2010 the number of claims where fraud has been suspected or proven has increased by 440 per cent. 'As in motor insurance, the types of pet fraud vary, but suspicions are often aroused by potentially exaggerated claims for treatment. 'In addition to the loss of use and value of the animal, the deliberate destruction or maiming of an animal can also be disguised as an accident and deliberate destruction of an animal by a veterinary surgeon when unnecessary are also areas where fraud might arise.' She said veterinary records, unlike humans, do not always follow animals around so can often be difficult to be trace, making it easier to carry out frauds. She added that vets, who are not bound by the constraints of using the cheapest drugs available like the NHS, can even charge up to twice as much for treatment. 'Insurers may also be presented with claims for cost of drugs or treatment for animals that don't exist or for a treatment that is unnecessary or more expensive than needed', she said. 'These are particularly worrying types of fraud because it often requires the help of a vet.' A total of 2.3 million cats and dogs were insured last year and virtually every type of animal can be covered. The Association of British Insurers is now arranging a shared database of information about insured animals to detect fraud.

German cleaner scrubs $1.1 million sculpture APAP – 20 hours ago BERLIN (AP) — Officials in Dortmund say a modern-art installation valued at €800,000 ($1.1 million) was seriously damaged after an overzealous cleaning woman scrubbed away a patina intended to look like a dried rain puddle. City spokeswoman Dagmar Papajewski said Friday that Martin Kippenberger's "When it Starts Dripping from the Ceiling" remains in place at the city's Ostwall museum, despite the damage from earlier this month. Papajewski says cleaning personnel had instructions to stay at least 20 centimeters (8 inches) away from the artwork and it was not clear why the patina had fallen victim to the woman's scrubbing brush. The Kippenberger work was on loan to the museum from a private collection. Kippenberger was a German artist who died in 1997.

How long does it take to decide a legal case? Eternity, if you are in the United States, apparently. The U.S. Supreme Court last year ordered a three-judge panel from 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia to reconsider its 2008 decision, when the panel ruled the Federal Communications Commissions acted improperly in fining CBS over the fleeting exposure of Janet Jackson's breast during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. So the U.S. Supreme Court ordered the three-judge panel last year to reconsider its 2008 decision. And it took the three-judge panel until yesterday to issue its finding, that the original decision it made in 2008 was still correct. How long did it take for the three-judge panel to issue a decision on its original decision, after being ordered by the US Supreme Court to reconsider its decision? ........... ........... Appeals panel sides with CBS over Super Bowl fine By MARYCLAIRE DALE - Associated Press | AP – 1 hr 30 mins ago PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld its finding that the Federal Communications Commissions acted improperly in fining CBS over the fleeting exposure of Janet Jackson's breast during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. A three-judge panel from 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia ruled that the FCC improperly assessed a $550,000 fine against the network for the so-called "wardrobe malfunction" that lasted just over half a second. During the Super Bowl performance in Houston, Justin Timberlake ripped off Jackson's bustier, briefly exposing her breast and a silver sunburst "shield" covering her nipple. In arguments last year, the FCC argued that CBS should have been aware the performers might add shock value to the act. "CBS had a duty to investigate," FCC lawyer Jack Lewis argued. The network countered that regulators were now trying to apply different standards to words and images despite previously excusing fleeting instances of both. The Supreme Court last year ordered the appeals panel to reconsider its 2008 decision, citing a ruling in a Fox television-led challenge, when it said the FCC could threaten fines over the use of a single curse word on live TV. In the majority opinion, 3rd Circuit Judge Marjorie Rendell wrote that the Fox opinion did nothing to undermine the earlier decision on the CBS fine and, in fact, confirms the appeals panel's ruling. The FCC "arbitrarily and capriciously departed from its prior policy excepting fleeting broadcast material" in assessing the fine, Rendell wrote. The same panel initially sided with the network in 2008.

I got just a new email in my inbox. Haven't seen one like it before. Maybe they took a note from graymane's Officer Ron Owen to think up this approach. There are a few things about the email that are suspicious: 1). The email is dated November 1, 2011. But the offense (driving too fast) was supposed to take place November 2, 2011. So I haven't committed the offense yet. 2). The offense supposedly will happen in New York state. I haven't been in New York in around 20 years. .................. .................. DownThemAll is a free download manager that is simple to use, and works well. But I do not know how to que up files for them to be downloaded automatically. Also, is there any way to automatically set up files to be downloaded starting at pre-set times in DownThemAll? You can enter a file for download in DownThemAll as active or paused. In active state, the download for that file starts immediately. In paused state, the file is in standby mode, it does not start to download until you manually start the file downloading (by highlighting the file and hitting the resume arrow). Otherwise, the file in pause mode will apparently stay in pause mode forever. You can start up to 4 separate files downloading at the same time with DownThemAll. But I would really like to know how to que up files to be downloaded automatically. And I would like to know how to set up files to be downloaded at a pre-set time. I used to use Free Download Manager, and you could que up files to be downloaded automatically with that. And you could also pre-set the time for individual files to be downloaded. But a few versions earlier, Firefox disabled my copy of Free Download Manager, and I haven't used Free Download Manager since. Maybe I should check to see if I can use a current version of Free Download Manager with my current version of Firefox, and see how that works. But any help on using Down Them All would be appreciated.

Steve Jobs dies ABC News – 14 mins ago By NED POTTER and COLLEEN CURRY Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56. "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," read a statement by Apple's board of directors. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts." The homepage of Apple's website this evening switched to a full-page image of Jobs with the text, "Steve Jobs 1955-2011." Clicking on the image revealed the additional text: "Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple." Jobs co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 and, with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak, marketed what was considered the world's first personal computer, the Apple II. Shortly after learning of Jobs' death, Wozniak told ABC News, "I'm shocked and disturbed." Industry watchers called him a master innovator -- perhaps on a par with Thomas Edison -- changing the worlds of computing, recorded music and communications. In 2004, he beat back an unusual form of pancreatic cancer, and in 2009 he was forced to get a liver transplant. After several years of failing health, Jobs announced on Aug. 24, 2011 that he was stepping down as Apple's chief executive. "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation. "Unfortunately, that day has come." One of the world's most famous CEOs, Jobs remained stubbornly private about his personal life, refusing interviews and shielding his wife and their children from public view. "He's never been a media person," said industry analyst Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies, after Jobs resigned. "He's granted interviews in the context of product launches, when it benefits Apple, but you never see him talk about himself." The highlights of Jobs's career trajectory are well-known: a prodigy who dropped out of Reed College in Oregon and, at 21, started Apple with Wozniak in his parents' garage. He was a multimillionaire by 25, appeared on the cover of Time magazine at 26, and was ousted at Apple at age 30, in 1984. In the years that followed, he went into other businesses, founding NeXT computers and, in 1986, buying the computer graphics arm of Lucasfilm, Ltd., which became Pixar Animation Studios. He was described as an exacting and sometimes fearsome leader, ordering up and rejecting multiple versions of new products until the final version was just right. He said the design and aesthetics of a device were as important as the hardware and software inside. In 1996, Apple, which had struggled without Jobs, brought him back by buying NeXT. He became CEO in 1997 and put the company on a remarkable upward path. By 2001 the commercial music industry was on its knees because digital recordings, copied and shared online for free, made it unnecessary for millions of people to buy compact discs. Jobs took advantage with the iPod -- essentially a pocket-sized computer hard drive with elegantly simple controls and a set of white earbuds so that one could listen to the hours of music one saved on it. He set up the iTunes online music store, and persuaded major recording labels to sell songs for 99 cents each. No longer did people have to go out and buy a CD if they liked one song from it. They bought a digital file and stored it in their iPod. In 2007, he transformed the cell phone. Apple's iPhone, with its iconic touch screen, was a handheld computer, music player, messaging device, digital wallet and -- almost incidentally -- cell phone. Major competitors, such as BlackBerry, Nokia and Motorola, struggled after it appeared. By 2010, Apple's new iPad began to cannibalize its original business, the personal computer. The iPad was a sleek tablet computer with a touch screen and almost no physical buttons. It could be used for almost anything software designers could conceive, from watching movies to taking pictures to leafing through a virtual book. Personal life Jobs kept a close cadre of friends, Bajarin said, including John Lasseter of Pixar and Larry Ellison of Oracle, but beyond that, shared very little of his personal life with anyone. But that personal life -- he was given up at birth for adoption, had an illegitimate child, was romantically linked with movie stars -- was full of intrigue for his fan base and Apple consumers. Jobs and his wife, Laurene Powell, were married in a small ceremony in Yosemite National Park in 1991, lived in Woodside, Calif., and had three children: Reed Paul, Erin Sienna and Eve. He admitted that when he was 23, he had a child out of wedlock with his high school girlfriend, Chris Ann Brennan. Their daughter, Lisa Brennan Jobs, was born in 1978. He had a biological sister, Mona Simpson, the author of such well-known books as "Anywhere But Here." But he did not meet Simpson until they were adults and he was seeking out his birth parents. Simpson later wrote a book based on their relationship. She called it "A Regular Guy." Fortune magazine reported that Jobs denied paternity of Lisa for years, at one point swearing in a court document that he was infertile and could not have children. According to the report, Chris Ann Brennan collected welfare for a time to support the child until Jobs later acknowledged Lisa as his daughter. There were other personal details that emerged over the years, as well. At Reed, Jobs became romantically involved with the singer Joan Baez, according to Elizabeth Holmes, a friend and classmate. In "The Second Coming of Steve Jobs," Holmes tells biographer Alan Deutschman that Jobs broke up with his serious girlfriend to "begin an affair with the charismatic singer-activist." Holmes confirmed the details to ABC News. Jobs' health and Apple's health Enigmatic and charismatic, Jobs said little about himself. But then his body began to fail him. In 2004, he was forced to say publicly he had a rare form of pancreatic cancer. In 2009, it was revealed that he had quietly gone to a Memphis hospital for a liver transplant. He took three medical leaves from Apple. He did not share details. In 2009, sources said, members of Apple's board of directors had to persuade him to disclose more about his health as "a fiduciary issue," interwoven with the health of the company. He was listed in March as 109th on the Forbes list of the world's billionaires, with a net worth of about $8.3 billion. After selling Pixar animation studios to The Walt Disney Company in 2006, he became a Disney board member and the company's largest shareholder. Disney is the parent company of ABC News. Analysts said Apple performed well during Jobs' absence, partly because he was available for big decisions and partly because his chief lieutenant, Tim Cook, was the hands-on manager even when Jobs was there. The company has a history of bouncing back. In January 2009, after he announced his second medical leave, Apple stock dropped to $78.20 per share. But it quickly recovered and became one of the most successful stocks on Wall Street. On one day in the summer of 2011, with the stock hitting the $400 level, Apple briefly passed ExxonMobil as the world's most valuable company.

I just got the first edition of the Porn Users Newsletter in my email box. I'm wondering if I should save it to a portable hard drive and take to a local print shop to have it blown up and put on my bedroom wall. I might have to take down my Farah Fawcett poster to make space. Decisions, decisions. I was really surprised to get this newsletter, which I hope will be an historic event worthy of the first Playboy Magazine edition. Hint, hint: Please include large blow-up photos of our favorite girls in future editions. Actually, on second glance, I see there are links to: Our Editor's Favorite Photo Galleries of the Week Our Editor's Favorite Movie Galleries of the Week

The U.S. government hard at work protecting its citizens by making ISPs retain customer names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and dynamic IP addresses. That information will be easily available to law enforcement, and perhaps attorneys litigating civil disputes in divorce, insurance fraud, and other cases as well. ....................... ....................... http://www.zdnet.com/blog/violetblue/how...risk/590?tag=nl.e539 How The New ‘Protecting Children’ Bill Puts You At Risk By Violet Blue | August 1, 2011, 11:37pm PDT Last Thursday the U.S. House of Representatives’ judiciary committee passed a bill that makes the online activity of every American available to police and attorneys upon request under the guise of protecting children from pornography. The Republican-majority sponsored bill is called the Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011. It has nothing to do with pornography, and was opposed by over 30 civil liberties and consumer advocacy organizations, as well as one brave indie ISP that is urging its customers to do everything they can to protest the invasion of privacy. “Protecting Children” forces ISPs to retain customer names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and dynamic IP addresses. It’s like having your wallet plus the web sites you visit tracked and handed over on request. These logs are now going to be retained for the scope of one and a half years. (I have to wonder if ISPs can sell this data, too.) This has nothing to do with porn. In case you’re like the Reps that passed this nightmare and you’ve forgotten: pornography is legal in the United States. It is pedophilia that is illegal. But for the sake of harnessing hysteria to get a bill passed, clearly these particular Republicans find it convenient to conflate “pornographers” as pedophiles. Last time I checked in on the matter, pedophiles did not operate within the laws surrounding adult pornography. Personally, I’m insulted as a porn-loving American girl to be included by way of consumer participation in this disgusting and misleading characterization. And that my privacy has just been sold for something that doesn’t actually help the children. I don’t feel confident that treating us all like the criminals our system can’t catch is going to protect any children, especially when the people who passed the bill can’t - or won’t - distinguish the difference between legal adult pornography and pedophilia. CNET’s Declan McCullagh reminds us that “the mandatory logs would be accessible to police investigating any crime and perhaps attorneys litigating civil disputes in divorce, insurance fraud, and other cases as well.” CNET reported that mandatory data retention was being fast-tracked in January, 2011. The fact that civil litigants could subpoena your internet activity and the contents of your wallet has nothing to do with the labeled and stated purpose of this bill. “The bill is mislabeled,” said Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the senior Democrat on the panel. “This is not protecting children from Internet pornography. It’s creating a database for everybody in this country for a lot of other purposes.” Read also: House panel approves broadened ISP snooping bill However, this bill has a provision stating that a court does not need to approve administrative subpoenas used by U.S. Marshals who might use it to ‘track down unregistered sex offenders.’ This received strong arguments against giving Marshals too much power. The Electronic Frontier Foundation spearheaded consumer and privacy groups’ opposition to the bill and hosted a one-click letter-writing campaign. This included the ACLU, the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, Patient Privacy Rights and many more. Because of the way the bill requires information to be collected and stored, the EFF called the bill “ripe for abuse by law enforcement officials” and said that because the laws designed to protect the private data of consumers from government access are insufficient and out-of-date, it creates “a perfect storm for government abuse.” Small ISPs Are Ringing The Alarm While consumer groups opposed it and tech news outlets I trust are spelling out concerns, it was when my own ISP made a blog post that it was clear that this bill isn’t just a problem for privacy proponents. Sonic.net’s CEO Dane Jasper personally posted Help us, protect your privacy online. Today we retain most IP allocation logs for just two weeks; we don’t need them beyond that period, so they are deleted. Storing logs longer presents an attractive nuisance, and would potentially make our customers the target of invasions of privacy. Any lawyer can simply file a Doe lawsuit, draft up a subpoena and request a customer’s identity. It’s far too easy. Do the wheels of justice – or investigation – move too slowly, and should data be retained for a long time to allow for legitimate investigation? No, there are already tools in place that law enforcement can easily use to ask ISPs to preserve log information of real online criminals. The 1996 Electronic Communication Transactional Records Act allows law enforcement to require an ISP to keep data for 90 days upon law enforcement request, giving time for a legitimate search warrant to be reviewed by a judge and issued. The CEO points out that because the bill applies to commercial providers, naturally it won’t catch people pursuing criminal activity, who can simply use public Wi-Fi. Or 4G wireless, such as through a cell carrier. Lifehacker points this out in What You Need to Know About the Internet Snooping Bill (and How You Can Protect Yourself): One nice feature of the PCFIPA of 2011 bill is that it doesn’t include cellular data, so if you’ve thought about switching to 4G wireless data at home you’ll soon have another reason. That’s right: wireless carriers are exempt from having to store all your data and provide it on notice. This is likely because unlike small ISPs such as Sonic, wireless carriers lobbied the bill authors to get out of it. The Department of Justice fought against the mobile exemption. Obviously if someone is going to distribute pedophilia they could do it over a 4G wireless card just as easily as their DSL account, so in a certain context, the wireless carriers have lobbied their way out of the cost burden. That also makes this bill anti-small business, because smaller ISPs like Sonic have to bear the costs, while Verizon and friends, don’t. I think that ultimately, the ones bearing the true costs will be us. And don’t give me that ‘if you’re not doing anything wrong you shouldn’t worry’ line. It’s as ripe as Congressman Weiner’s old line, ‘my account was hacked.’

Which is better: viewing porn, or digging a hole at some beach? Read about Olympic swimmer who dug a hole for himself at the beach instead of viewing porn. ++++++++ ++++++++ Olympic swimmer rescued from Fla. sand hole he dug AP 2 hrs 36 mins ago POMPANO BEACH, Fla. It took 60 rescuers two hours to free a member of the Austrian Olympic swim team who was buried in sand up to his neck on Florida's Pompano Beach. Authorities say the 19-year-old had spent much of Sunday digging a hole that was 7 feet deep and 6 feet across. The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that at 7 p.m., the man, whose name was not released, jumped into the hole as a joke and sand collapsed around him. Pompano Beach Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Sandra King says the man was in danger of being crushed by the pressure from the sand. He was freed about 9 p.m. and taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown. King said the Austrian Olympic team has been training in South Florida since April. Sunday was an off day for team members.

Seven kids from seven different women. Probably all gorgeous. Still dating women in their twenties. Still friendly with many of his past loves. And a self-made millionaire from his nightclubs. You have to respect his drive. And his sense of humor. Offering "250,000 euros ($340,000) of his fortune to the last woman he has sex with, provided he dies in her arms after a 'final, glorious orgasm.'" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Film untangles life of celebrity German playboy (Reuters) Source: Reuters Wed Feb 16, 2011, 6:58 am EST BERLIN (Reuters) - The life of Germany's most celebrated playboy has made a big screen splash at the Berlin film festival, offering a riveting portrayal of the Jewish night club mogul who helped post-war Berlin learn to laugh again. "The Big Eden," an entertaining documentary about Shimon "Rolf" Eden, is more than just a story about an 80-year-old who has seduced a long line of young women over the last 60 years with his unique charm. The warmly applauded film shows unexpected facets of Eden -- an Israeli soldier who returned to Berlin after World War Two with no bitterness about the Holocaust -- and how he made his fortune in Berlin running the city's most popular night clubs. "I've had a lot of luck in life," Eden said on Tuesday after watching the world premiere with former girlfriends, his seven children and most of their seven mothers. "I'm still not sure why I've had so much luck. I hope it continues for a while." Eden, who boasts that he has had thousands of girlfriends, may be seen in Berlin now as a bit of an oddity. With bleached blond hair and a permanent tan, he is often seen strolling along Berlin's avenues with one of his many young women on his arm. But the film by Peter Doerfler shows new insights into the ever-smiling man whose family escaped the Holocaust by leaving Berlin in 1933 and who in the 1950s went to Paris with just a few dollars in his pocket. "A lot of people groaned when I first said I wanted to do a film on Eden," Doerfler told Reuters, admitting he had once thought that he was an embarrassing figure. "But there's so much more to him that you discover when you look a bit deeper." NIGHT CLUBBING Eden opened the first of five West Berlin nightclubs in 1957 with the help of a 5,000 mark grant from the West German government. His boundless optimism helped make it the hottest spot in town. Everyone from the Rolling Stones to Liza Minelli, Louis Armstrong and Jack Lemmon found their way there. "I didn't care about what had happened 10 years before," Eden tells some friends in Israel of his return to Berlin. "I was lucky. All my relatives survived. I'm not a victim. I was a winner. I made people happy. I helped people forget misery and think about beautiful things." Several former girlfriends appear in the film to explain how his sunny optimism, perseverance and seemingly unlimited resources won them over. "He's never grown beyond puberty," says his current 20-something girlfriend Brigitte of Eden, who admits to having had three face lifts. "Even when we broke up he gave me a gold ring worth 10,000 marks," said Uschi Buchfellner, a former German model and actress. "The next boyfriend I had wanted all the presents back that he gave me." Eden briefly gained international fame eight years ago when he offered 250,000 euros ($340,000) of his fortune to the last woman he has sex with, provided he dies in her arms after a "final, glorious orgasm." He said the offer still stands. "It's been great," Eden said. "Women come up to me and say they want to sleep with me. And they work really hard to try to finish me off. But the sex is great. For a man there's no better way of staying fit." (Editing by Elizabeth Piper)

Apparently Egypt has cut its citizens off from Internet access. I didn't see any official reason given in this article, but it's obvious that Egypt feels the Internet is a dangerous source of information that could pollute the minds of its citizens and other residents. So if you are currently planning a trip to Egypt, you could be cut off from access to PU, and possibly even your favorite porn paysites. >>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<< http://www.zdnet.com/blog/networking/the...gypt/613?tag=nl.e539 The Internet goes dark in Egypt By Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols | January 27, 2011, 8:55pm PST First, Egypt blocked social networks like Facebook and Twitter. I had no trouble believing the Egyptian government would do that. But, when I first heard that Egypt had blocked the Internet, I was inclined to doubt the stories. Since then though I’ve heard from a technically savvy source, Renesys, an Internet analytics firm, that Egypt really has blocked the vast majority of its Internet connections. In short, the Egyptian government has cut its people off from the Internet. According to James Cowie, Renesys’ CTO, “In an action unprecedented in Internet history, the Egyptian government appears to have ordered service providers to shut down all international connections to the Internet. Critical European-Asian fiber-optic routes through Egypt appear to be unaffected for now. But every Egyptian provider, every business, bank, Internet cafe, website, school, embassy, and government office that relied on the big four Egyptian ISPs for their Internet connectivity is now cut off from the rest of the world. Link Egypt, Vodafone/Raya, Telecom Egypt, Etisalat Misr, and all their customers and partners are, for the moment, off the air.” Specifically, “At 22:34 UTC (00:34am local time), Renesys observed the virtually simultaneous withdrawal of all routes to Egyptian networks in the Internet’s global routing table. Approximately 3,500 individual BGP [Border Gateway Protocol] routes were withdrawn, leaving no valid paths by which the rest of the world could continue to exchange Internet traffic with Egypt’s service providers. Virtually all of Egypt’s Internet addresses are now unreachable, worldwide.” I checked this out myself. Using miniRank’s listing of the most popular Egyptian Web sites, I was unable to reach 22 out of the 25 sites. The only sites which were responding were those of major car companies. I presume, from the pages I saw, that I was being re-directed to sites outside of Egypt. I then looked further and discovered that many of the Egyptian DNS (Domain Name System) servers are not working. For example, as I write this at 11 PM Eastern time, frcu.eun.eg, ns.mcit.gov.eg, and ns.idsc.gov.eg are all returning server failure messages. DNS servers outside of Egypt, used by Egyptian sites, are reporting that are no records for major Egyptian sites. The Egyptian government really has done it. They’ve essentially shut off their country from the Internet. There seems to be one significant exception. Cowie wrote, “One of the very few exceptions to this block has been Noor Group (AS2092, which still has 83 out of 83 live routes to its Egyptian customers, with inbound transit from Telecom Italia as usual. Why was Noor Group apparently unaffected by the countrywide take-down order? Unknown at this point, but we observe that the Egyptian Stock Exchange is still alive at a Noor address.” When I checked, at approximately 11:30 PM Eastern time, the Egyptian Stock Exchange site was still alive. Still, for the most part, Egypt’s citizens have been cut off from the Internet. We don’t know what will happen now. This is the first time that a government has locked its population out of the world wide community of the Internet. I fear this will not end well. Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols, aka sjvn, has been writing about technology and the business of technology since CP/M-80 was the cutting edge, PC operating system

Just wanted to post that warning, in case any perverts happen to visit Texas. I don't think California has passed any such law. But I am not a lawyer. Maybe WittyGuy could comment, since he seems to be our resident legal expert?

My laptop monitor sometimes melts while I am watching Japanese porn. The monitor develops squiggly lines that blur the good parts (the stunt cock, the model's vagina, etc.). Should I throw my laptop into the refrigerator, to cool things down? How am I supposed to watch these Japanese videos, when the good parts are getting blurred? Japan has some of the most lovely models in the world. But how can I watch them if the mosaic screen of CRAP suddenly appears? I have fallen in love again. Saori Hara is one of the most beautiful girls alive. She is a vision of beauty, natural shyness, with a fucking hot body and an adorable face. Maria Ozawa used to be my number one Japanese model, but she has now been replaced by Saori Hara. The queen is dead. Long live the queen! Saori Hara is so modest, that when she takes a shower, she wears a bikini. You couldn't ask for a sweeter girl. There'a a video of her taking a shower on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG9qhGoGorU Edit01: What does CRAP stand for? Some of the more intelligent PU members might have a clue. Edit02: One of the amazing things about Saori Hara, besides her fantastic beauty, is that she is able to remain a virgin in spite of the numerous young punks that are poking and licking and slobbering all over her body. They grow them different in Japan, where the purity of mind shines through and keeps these fresh young girls so adorable and clean and yummy.

A message of vital importance for all PU members. When was the last time your balls felt clean? With the AXE detailer, you can get relief, even if your balls are really filthy. Caution: Use the soft side of the detailer for balls that are tender or blue. http://www.youtube.com/axe#p/c/37120AF3D...8ACB78/0/UzoARPa3XGs (Allow the first youtube video to run completely, and a second video will play, showing how men of all ages can benefit from this wonderful invention. As the lovely ladies state: girls can play with clean balls all the day long!) Edited on Nov 21, 2010, 10:39am

As Americans, we look to the British to set an example of how we are supposed to behave politely. But apparently not all Brits are examples to be followed. One question in my mind is whether the Brit, if forced to serve a 2-year jail sentence in Dubai, will still be paid his regular salary from the United Nations. I read about a U.S. federal judge who was sent to a U.S. prison, for breaking the law. But he still received his regular salary (not his retirement pay, but his regular salary) while in prison. The fact he was in prison instead of serving on the bench did not make any difference in the salary he was legally entitled to. I think it would take a measure from either the U.S. Congress or the U.S. Senate to stop his regular salary, even though the man was in prison instead of on the job. I thought to myself: "Wow, that is some job protection." >>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<< Posted Nov 12 2010 9:02AM British man arrested for giving 'the finger' in Dubai airport By Ben Mutzabaugh, USA TODAY In a story that serves as a reminder to watch your manners when passing through Dubai, The Sun of London reports that a 34-year-old British man has been arrested and jailed for giving "the finger" to an airport worker there. The Sun says the incident began when a female airport employee would not let Paul Anthony use what the paper describes as a "customer services desk phone." An argument ensued in which Anthony is accused of "cursing" at the woman in front her of colleagues. Then, as he passed through border control, he "thrust his middle finger in her face," the Sun writes. The woman called authorities, who arrested Anthony. He was convicted of "indecency and insulting the employee," according to the Sun. Anthony was released after serving three days in a Dubai jail, but now faces a month awaiting his appeal against his penalty of a two-year jail term and deportation order, the Sun says. The man is a United Nations worker who had planned a six-day stopover in Dubai on his way back to the United Kingdom from Asia, according to the Sun's sources. "Brits have often fallen foul of decency laws but no one's been arrested this quickly," one unnamed source from the Dubai courts tells the paper.

I thought that the cost of going to college in the U.S. had gotten bad. But the price of higher education is set to zoom in the UK. How does the British government think middle class and lower class students will be able to afford the price of a university education? Or maybe the British government thinks the middle and lower classes don't deserve a university education? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Thousands of UK students protest tuition fees hike By JILL LAWLESS and GILLIAN SMITH, Associated Press Jill Lawless And Gillian Smith, Associated Press – 11 mins ago LONDON – Tens of thousands of students marched noisily through London on Wednesday against plans to triple university tuition fees, and some tried to occupy the headquarters of the governing Conservative Party, in the largest street protest yet against the government's sweeping austerity measures. Organizers said 50,000 students, lecturers and supporters were demonstrating against plans to raise the cost of studying at a university to 9,000 pounds ($14,000) a year — three times the current rate. Violence flared as a handful of people smashed windows in a high-rise building that houses Conservative headquarters, as others lit a bonfire of placards outside the building. Office workers were evacuated as several dozen protesters managed to get into the lobby, chanting "Tories Out," while outside police faced off against a crowd that occasionally hurled food, soda cans and placards. "We are destroying the building just like they are destroying our chances of affording higher education," said Corin Parkin, 20, a student at London's City University. Organizers condemned the violence. Sally Hunt, general secretary of faculty group the University and College Union, said "the actions of a minority, out of 50,000 people, is regrettable." Elsewhere, protesters were peaceful but determined. "I am here because it is important that students stand up and shout about what is going on," said Anna Tennant-Siren, a student at the University of Ulster in Coleraine, said: "Politicians don't seem to care. They should be taking money from people who earn seven-figure salaries, not from students who don't have any money." Frances O'Grady, of the Trades Union Congress, said the hike would make colleges "no-go zones for young people from ordinary backgrounds." "This is about turning colleges and universities from learning institutions into finishing schools for the rich," she said. Britain's Liberal Democrats, who are part of the coalition government with the Conservatives, pledged during the country's election campaign to abolish fees. Protest leaders said they would attempt to use recall powers to oust lawmakers who break campaign promises on the issue. The National Union of Students said it would try to recall legislators from the party who vote in favor on the hike. "We will not tolerate the previous generation passing on its debts to the next, nor will we pick up the bill to access a college and university education that was funded for them," said union president Aaron Porter. While British tuition fees are modest compared to those at some U.S. colleges, British universities are public institutions. Opponents of the tuition increase have pointed out that Prime Minister David Cameron and other members of the government attended elite universities such as Oxford and Cambridge at a time when university education was free. The previous Labour government of Prime Minister Tony Blair introduced the first fees for students soon after it was elected in 1997. Scotland abolished tuition fees in 2000, and in the rest of Britain the cost is capped at about 3,000 pounds ($4,800) a year. Prime Minister David Cameron's government plans to triple that and cut funding to universities as it strives to slash 81 billion pounds ($128 billion) from public expenditure over the next four years.

Not sure what this is, except a gimmick to increase traffic. But a few restaurants are using semi-nude models as table-decoration to serve their food. It makes me feel much more at ease knowing that the surface of the models is required to be smooth and easily cleaned, as specified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. >>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<< Fla. restaurant adds fleshy fare to the menu Updated 2d 2h ago By Drew Sterwald, The (Fort Myers, Fla.) News-Press PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Gabrielle Patchell is a real dish. The petite 5-foot-6 model lies on her back with her long, blond hair splayed out on a table like an Asian fan. Nearly nude but for a thong and strategically placed leaves and artificial blossoms, she remains stock-still as people pluck sushi pieces off of her arms, legs and tummy. "She's my platter that I get to put my food on," says Brian Sung, sushi chef at Torch Bistro, Sushi and Martini Bar in Punta Gorda. Long considered a sleepy little hamlet, Punta Gorda has joined the ranks of megacities such as New York, Los Angeles and Miami in serving so-called "naked sushi." "I hope Punta Gorda is ready for it," quips Evelyn Keller, a North Fort Myers, Fla., resident who had stopped in for a more conventional dinner with friends. Apparently it is. The trio of chefs behind Torch — Shane Federici, Jason Bush and sushi-roller Sung — say they've booked at least one full-body sushi party a month since they opened in January. With models costing $100-$200 an hour, private parties can run $300-$400 depending on how many guests attend and how much food is ordered. Torch also serves more Italian cuisine and American comfort food, but the sexy sushi presentation is what's attracting attention. A travel writer on AOL. com ranked it second on a list of the "10 Most Outrageous Restaurants" around the world — between the No. 3 California eatery where patrons dine in the dark and the No. 1 in Japan where monkeys are the servers. The practice formally known as nyotaimori is intended to celebrate female beauty — though male models also are available. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, which inspects restaurants statewide, has no laws or license requirements regarding the preparation or serving of sushi. "Current law does require that all food contact surfaces be smooth and easily cleaned," says DBPR spokeswoman Alexis Antonacci Lambert. Torch's models shower with antibacterial soap and shave before they are made up, painted with Asian symbols and decorated with flowers. The process takes about 90 minutes. Then, staffers carefully place volcano rolls and spicy tuna rolls on top of leaves or seaweed sheets on the models — the food doesn't actually touch their skin. Patrons sit around the table, plucking sushi with chopsticks, but aren't supposed to talk to the models. It's nothing new to Patchell, the 24-year-old sushi model, gymnast and graduate student. She once served as the vessel for an ice cream sundae buffet. How does she manage to stay so still when she has lily pads pressed into her armpits? Yoga skills help. "I concentrate," she says. "I don't hear the conversations going on." Stuart Sanchez, 57, and his wife drove down from Sarasota, Fla., for the special public demonstration. "It's fantastic," Stuart Sanchez says. "I'm so surprised to find it here." The (Fort Myers, Fla.) News-Press is owned by Gannett Co., Inc., publisher of USA TODAY.

Not a big deal, but I seem to be seeing the use of a lot more condoms lately in European porn. Are they becoming more safety conscious, or what? I think it's a step forward. If the actors are safer, that's a good thing. And the condoms are not really that visible anyway. You only see them in some of the shots. If you're aren't looking, you hardly realize they are being used. And they are removed at the end for the money shot, anyway.

Amazon is currently offering a Seagate Expansion 2.0 TB External Hard Drive for $112. That sounds dirt cheap. Any opinions on whether the Seagate external hard drive is a good value? Anybody owns this model, or thinks a different model/manufacturer would be better? I've read some terrible reviews on the Seagate Expansion 2.0 TB external hard drive, saying the drive is not reliable, will fail in a short period of time, makes a lot of noise, etc. So I guess, in spite of the low price, it's better to avoid this drive? What model/manufacturer and price sounds good or reasonable or recommended?

One foolish way to put your name on spammer lists is to join a Yahoo group. You join the group, your email is made public to that group, a spammer gets the list, and bing, you are now the target of additional spam that is sent to the membership list of that Yahoo group. Lately I've been getting all kinds of stupid offers in my email box addressed to the Yahoo group I joined years ago, and that group is inactive except for the spammer messages.

I just tried to log on to my public library account and got the following message: "The library catalog is currently unvailable due to an unscheduled hardware failure. We are currently working on the system and will make the system available as soon as possible." My question is which is better: unscheduled hardware failure, or a scheduled hardware failure? Since I'm not a computer expert, I can tell when my computer is giving me problems, but how can I tell if the problems are scheduled? And who is doing the scheduling? Is Bill Gates the culprit, that I should be cussing out and pointing a finger at? Not only is the hardware a failure, but the computer mis-spelled the word "unvailable". Can't our public money buy computers that are more reliable and also better spellers?

When you do a search for Glam Deluxe at PU, you get no results. I found a link to Glam Deluxe at PU, but what is returned is an error message: "Unfortunately the site you're trying to reach is currently in-active or no longer exists." glamdeluxe.com URL still works, and there is a sign-up page using CCBill that will accept membership. So I am wondering if the site has stopped updating, or what? There should be a simple way to find out if a site is actively updating or not, but looking at the glam deluxe preview pages, the "updates" are not dated, the content photosets and videos are not dated. It's been a while since I was a member of this site. So I can't tell from looking at the "updates" section whether this site has stopped updating. I would guess that the older content is still available, because CCBill is a reputable billing company, and they would refund your membership fees if you pay for a site that has no content. The site itself advertises: "3 fresh updates every week". But many sites advertise something, and it turns out to be wrong. Glam deluxe is/was not a great site. But they had some lovely models, and the photography was crisp, and clear and very high quality. A softcore teen glam site. Nice photosets. Any recent members of that site care to comment? Or anyone else have any ideas on how to check if a site is still active, or is still actively updating?

One night a man was getting very drunk in a pub. He staggered back to take a piss, whipping his prick out as he went in the door. However, he had wandered into the ladies room by mistake, surprising a woman sitting on the can, "This is for ladies!" she screamed. The drunk waved his dick at her and said "So is this!"

86-year-old governor of Indian state resigns after a sex tape of him in bed with 3 women is shown on TV news. Was he able to satisfy all 3 of the women, or did he leave them hanging? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34599073/ns/...rld_news-weird_news/ Governor, 86, resigns over 3-woman sex tape Women's rights groups hold protests; official's office calls TV broadcast fake By OMER FAROOQ Associated Press Writer updated 9:47 p.m. PT, Sat., Dec . 26, 2009 HYDERABAD, India - The 86-year-old governor of a southern Indian state resigned, a day after a television news channel broadcast a tape allegedly showing him in bed with three women. Pressure mounted on Gov. Narain Dutt Tiwari to quit after the tape allegedly showing him in bed with three women was broadcast Friday, prompting the opposition and women's right groups to hold street protests in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh's state capital, demanding his resignation. Tiwari's office denied the allegation, denouncing the tape as fabricated. Tiwari, a veteran governing Congress party leader at the national level, sent his resignation letter to the Indian president on Saturday, citing health reasons, a state official said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to reporters. "The news channel report is fabricated, false and malicious to tarnish the image of the governor," said a statement issued by Aryendra Sharma, an aide to the governor. The three women were brought to Hyderabad by another woman who was allegedly promised a mining lease by the governor in return for sexual favors, ABN Andhra Jyoti News reported. The woman said she decided to expose Tiwari through a sting operation after he did not keep his promise, the channel said. A court stopped the channel from broadcasting the tape again later Friday after a petition filed by Sharma, who argued the video was "likely to demean and denigrate his office." Tiwari earlier served as the top elected official of northern Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand states and as a federal minister. Copyright 2009 The Associated Press.

I've never been to one of these conventions. And, unfortunately, I'm not really into DVDs. I kind of doubt the adult sites I like (met-art, justteensite, mplstudios, femjoy, domai, etc.) will be sending many of their models to the show. Is PU/TBP present with a booth? Where will the PU/TBP booth be found? So what kind of goodies, if any, will PU/TPB be handing out? Will Khan or Rick be making an appearance, so we can see if they look as good in real life as their avatars? Enquiring minds want to know.

Actor David Carridine found dead in Thailand, an apparent suicide. .............................. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.o...ound-dead-bangkok-ap Actor David Carradine found dead in Bangkok (AP) June 04, 2009 BANGKOK - Actor David Carradine, a born seeker and cult idol who broke through as the willing student called "grasshopper" in the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" and decades later as leader of an assassin squad in "Kill Bill," was found dead Thursday in Thailand. Police said he appeared to have hanged himself. The officer responsible for investigating the death, Teerapop Luanseng, said the 72-year-old actor was staying at a suite at the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. "I can confirm that we found his body, naked, hanging in the closet," Teerapop said. He said police suspected suicide. A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family. Carradine came from an acting family. His father, John, made a career playing creepy, eccentric characters in film and on stage. His brothers Keith, Robert and Bruce also became actors. Actress Martha Plimpton is Keith Carradine's daughter. "My Uncle David was a brilliantly talented, fiercely intelligent and generous man. He was the nexus of our family in so many ways, and drew us together over the years and kept us connected," Plimpton said Thursday. Carradine was in Bangkok shooting the movie "Stretch," said his manager, Chuck Binder. "We're very saddened, he was a wonderful guy," said Lori Binder, a partner in the agency that represented Carradine. "It is shocking to me that he is no longer with us," said Michael Madsen, who played an assassin in "Kill Bill." "I had been thinking about calling him for the last several days. ... I have so many great memories of David that I wouldn't even know where to begin. He has a very special place in my heart." The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation said Carradine could not be contacted after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew on Wednesday, and that his body was found by a hotel maid Thursday morning. It said a preliminary police investigation found that he had hanged himself with a cord used with the suite's curtains. It cited police as saying there was no sign that he had been assaulted. Police said Carradine's body was taken to a hospital for an autopsy that would be done Friday. Carradine appeared in more than 100 feature films with such directors as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby. One of his early film roles was as folk singer Woody Guthrie in Ashby's 1976 biopic, "Bound for Glory." But he was best known for his role as Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin priest traveling the 1800s American frontier West in the TV series "Kung Fu," which aired in 1972-75. "I wasn't like a TV star in those days, I was like a rock 'n' roll star," Carradine said in an interview with Associated Press Radio in 1996. "It was a phenomenon kind of thing. ... It was very special." Actor Rainn Wilson, star of TV's "The Office," tweeted about Carradine's death on Twitter: "R.I.P. David Carradine. You were a true hero to so many of us children of the 70s. We'll miss you, Kwai Chang Caine." Carradine reprised the role in a mid-1980s TV movie and played Caine's grandson in the 1990s syndicated series "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues." He returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino's two-part saga "Kill Bill." Bill, the worldly father figure of a pack of crack assassins, was a shadowy presence in 2003's "Kill Bill - Vol. 1." In that film, one of Bill's former assassins (Uma Thurman) begins a vengeful rampage against her old associates, including Bill. In "Kill Bill - Vol. 2," released in 2004, Thurman's character catches up to Bill. The role brought Carradine a Golden Globe nomination as best supporting actor. Bill was a complete contrast to Caine, the soft-spoken refugee from a Shaolin monastery, serenely spreading wisdom and battling bad guys in the Old West. He left after three seasons, saying the show had started to repeat itself. "David's always been kind of a seeker of knowledge and of wisdom in his own inimitable way," his brother, actor Keith Carradine, said in a 1995 interview. After "Kung Fu," Carradine starred in the 1975 cult flick "Death Race 2000." He starred with Liv Ullmann in Bergman's "The Serpent's Egg" in 1977 and with his brothers in the 1980 Western "The Long Riders." But after the early 1980s, he spent two decades doing mostly low-budget films. Tarantino's films changed that. "All I've ever needed since I more or less retired from studio films a couple of decades ago ... is just to be in one," Carradine told The Associated Press in 2004. "There isn't anything that Anthony Hopkins or Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery or any of those old guys are doing that I couldn't do," he said. "All that was ever required was somebody with Quentin's courage to take and put me in the spotlight." One thing remained a constant after "Kung Fu": Carradine's interest in Asian herbs, exercise and philosophy. He wrote a personal memoir called "Spirit of Shaolin" and continued to make instructional videos on tai chi and other martial arts. In the 2004 interview, Carradine talked candidly about his past boozing and narcotics use, but said he had put all that behind him and stuck to coffee and cigarettes. "I didn't like the way I looked, for one thing. You're kind of out of control emotionally when you drink that much. I was quicker to anger." "You're probably witnessing the last time I will ever answer those questions," Carradine said. "Because this is a regeneration. It is a renaissance. It is the start of a new career for me. "It's time to do nothing but look forward." ___ Associated Press writer Polly Anderson in New York contributed to this report. ..............................

If a phrase is trademarked, does that mean I, or the average citizen, can not use it in an ordinary or commercial sense without the permission of the trademark owner? I was reading a news story, and I have a hard time understanding the implications of the story. It appears that Oprah Winfrey and Mutual of Omaha are suing each other over who has the right to use the term "AHA Moment". Let's say that I wanted to sell T-shirts with the slogan, "AHA Moment". Would that be illegal, unless I had legal permission from the trademark owner? (I'm not really planning on selling T-shirts, with or without that slogan. I'm just using selling T-shirts as an example.) Another point: Mutual of Omaha says the term has been used widely for 100 years. So what sense does it make to now allow Mutual of Omaha to take out a new trademark on the phrase, if the public has been using it for 100 years already? Wouldn't that be like taking something the public has been using, and now saying that only the trademark owner can legally use it from now on? For the lawyers to make money on this issue seems like an incredible waste of time and money (except the lawyers won't consider it wasted money, since they are the ones that will profit from this nonsense.) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.eonl...egal-moment-20090424 Oprah, Fellow "Aha" User Having a Legal Moment Source: E! Online Fri Apr 24, 2009, 2:11 pm EDT Are they telling us that Oprah Winfrey isn't the only one allowed to have an "aha moment"?! That's what Nebraska insurance company Mutual of Omaha is saying in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court against the queen of daytime's Harpo Productions, which claims it owns the term "AHA Moment." Mutual, the self-proclaimed official sponsor of the aha moment, sued to protect its right to use the phrase in advertising after receiving a request from Winfrey's camp to "cease and desist" its ongoing "What's your aha moment?" campaign. According to Mutual's marketing materials, the term refers to "those amazing, uplifting, inspirational moments that changed [people's] lives." When Mutual tried to lay claim to the term in February, nobody tried to stop them then, the company said. "The term 'aha moment' has been used widely in the public vernacular for a century," Mutual said in a statement Friday, per the Omaha World-Herald. "Mutual of Omaha's research to obtain its federal trademark uncovered no competing federally registered trademarks, and the trademark application received no opposition." Harpo spokeswoman Lisa Halliday said that the two sides are hoping to reach an amicable solution.

Marilyn Chambers was found dead at her L.A. apartment Sunday, April 12. The former porn star was found by her 17-year-old daughter. No cause of death has yet been determined. I met Chambers at a convention a few years back. She seemed very friendly, very open. Sorry to read the news. She was only 56, which now seems young to me.

Matt Dillon pleads guilty speeding, pays $828 fine The Associated Press, March 30, 2009 CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) -- Matt Dillon had his case dismissed after pleading guilty to speeding and paying an $828 fine. The 44-year-old actor was stopped Dec. 30 on Interstate 91 while driving 106 mph in rural Northern Vermont. Because of the excessive speed, he was also charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Prosecutor Will Porter said Monday that Dillon agreed to plead guilty to speeding in exchange for having the negligent operation charge dismissed Wednesday, which he said is common in such cases. Dillon's lawyer, Mark Kaplan, says the plea was a fair resolution for Dillon. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Personally, I think this is crazy. A movie star pays $828 for driving 106 mph (speeding). That speed, on a public road, is life threatening. I was ticketed $300 (a first offense) for failing to display my disabled person placard when I parked in a disabled parking space. I had the placard in the car, but forgot to display it properly. I showed the placard to the officer who ticketed me, but he said the ticket was already written, and that if I wanted to dispute it, I would have to contact the police department. Was my crime (failing to display a disabled person placard while parked in a disabled person parking space) really 1/3 as serious or dangerous as driving 106 mph on a public road? I realize tickets are used to get money, but shouldn't there be a better connection between the seriousness of the crime and the penalty you have to pay?

There is a column posted at Market Watch (a site that covers business news and the stock market) about the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, which was held January 8 - 11, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/Ad...wds/story.aspx?guid={7F1CBF05-8827-49B2-B451-F4EC3132CBB0} The column talks about how the recession is hurting the porn industry. But an even bigger factor in lost revenue is competition from free, amateur content on the Internet. Larry Flynt (publisher of Hustler) recently wrote to Congress asking for a $5 billion government bailout, saying adult DVD sales and rentals are down 22%. I guess Flynt believes that porn is socially acceptable and is entitled to the same government handouts that the banking, brokerage, and auto industries are going to get. The porn industry is looking at ways to increase revenues. One idea is to use 3D technology. But 3D technology is still very expensive, and it's limited to mainstream, commercial films. But I found it interesting that a major financial news site did a column on the adult entertainment industry convention.

I believe the reason there are so many Trust Ratings submitted anonymously is because the default selection in the profile is set that way. I am a newbie, just joined Nov 14. But I have seen a lot of trust ratings that were submitted anonymously that had a positive trust. It sometimes makes sense to give a negative trust with anonymous, but when you give a positive trust rating, you would be more likely to attach your name to the rating. My profile was set, by default, to "Pre-select Submit Anonymously when submitting new trust votes." In that case, you have to de-select (uncheck) the box, or you will enter a rating with the anonymous tag. A lot of newbies would not realize that, or bother to uncheck that box. I believe that's the reason there are so many anonymous entries for the Trust Ratings. Opinions? Agree? Disagree? Too minor to matter?

How about a simple listing of your favorite mega-sites, in approximate order of value, and a short (or long) description of why you like them? Any type mega-site, any type content: hardcore, softcore, megacore (my own special blend, or yours). A simple listing of the sites would do. Better would be the basic reasons you like the content and the value of each site (content + site ease of use)/(membership price) I think it makes more sense to leave niche sites off this list, because we are comparing mega-sites, not specialty items. Hopefully, mega-sites that appeal to a broad audience. I'm thinking more pay sites than networks or avs services or whatever, but if you like an alternative to a pay site, go ahead and list it and the reasons you like it.
