I absolutely agree. I used to love this site but the restrictions on downloads, and the outrageous pricing for additional scenes has put me off.
Perhaps the owner will have a rethink once the membership numbers dwindle...

A good quality site with a large backlist of guys, and regular uploads. There has been much controversy about the director in so much as how far does he push the boundaries of the guys, and is there manipulation going on. i agree with previous comments that it does often seem as though the guys are prostituting themselves, but i don't necessarily see that as a problem in the context of porn.
On the whole, a good site, hot guys, but probably enough to keep you going for a month, then come back again a few months later to check out what's new. |

I suspect this is not an uncommon issue, as I experienced the same in joining a gay sire, nudemaledancer.com. I subsequently found there was another entry to this site at nudmaedancers.tv (see my comment on this site) which, had I joined from there, would have given me excellent bonus site memberships. This is really frustrating as customers in essence purchasing the same product are being given two different services. I didn't check the price differences between the two sites, howvever.

Fratpad has become well known in the gay porn world, as a "reality" show following 8 gorgeous young straight guys as they go about their daily business in a shared house. As well as the house being full of cameras, and the viewer having the option to move from cam to cam to follow the guys, each guy has an allotted slot each day where he will be on cam for an hour or so. This doesn't necessarily mean he'll be naked, but he'll chat, work out, may show his underwear etc. There's a chat window so members can chat to the guys too.
OK, so far so good, but there's no guaranteed nudity, let alone anything which could slightly be construed as sexual. And in reality this is generally a soft core, titilation site, not unlike the stuff you find on British network TV late at night on Channel 5.
There is an archive of about 160 "antics" videos, which does include a few jerk off races, but generally it's the guys doing silly dances, shaving each other and the usual straight male horseplay (most often non-nude). If you want something more hardcore then better plump for XFraternity or HazeHim.
If you're into softcore voyeurism, then that's all fine, but the site lacks immensely in its back catalogue navigation.
Firstly there are no photos at all of any of the models. There is a substantial archive of over 200 shows of individual guys (I imagine they're all softcore, but haven't had the energy to view them all). These are only classed in chronological order with no photo preview or any hint of what the content is, and there's no search engine within the site.
There have been quite a few guys come and go in the Fratpad over the years, but it seems as a guy leaves, so does his archived content.
There is a sister site, Fratmen, where there is more solo masturbation and hardcore material, but certainly it was not offered as a bonus through the portal I joined. I do feel some bonus material should be added for members.
You can pay $69 to get 20 mins to see one of the guys jerking off, which rises to $189 for 35 mins with cumshot. I cannot see how this can be seen as value for money at all, unless you're absolutely besotted with one of the guys on the site.
The quality of the videos is fine, but they're only available in Flash player, and all are fully downloadable - no DRM.
To sum up, if you don't view this as a porn site, but as a sort of reality show where you can follow hot guys around as they go about their business, and you're not after nudity, hard ons, or sex, then it's a decent concept. But the marketing should really include this.
There is very poor back archive navigation, and frankly, after a day or so I got the point and there wasn't much to see. Perhaps I was expecting too much hard cock... |

There's a multitude of frat hazing sites of variable quality around at the moment. In this site, the concept is a male frat house where the guys end up daring their room mates to do things ending up, invariably, in sex. There's a combination of laddish, drunken and stoned pranks e.g. throwing flour over guys, drawing on guys when they're sleeping, and hardcore action. It invariably ends in one of theguys being fucked and used by multiple guys. The twist here is that each of the guys has a hand held camera and film the action from their POV. There is no director and there appears to be a very loose structure, the result being a very realistic, genuine and hot site. The site claims it is run exclusively by the frat which is made up of straight and bi guys, and judging by the content this premise seems to ring true.
Although the camera work is POV, it is of a very good quality, the uploads are of a good length and it feels really well produced. I can't remember the name of the main protagonist in the videos, but I certainly recognise him from other porn shoots.
The action never feels staged, unlike sites such as Haze Him, where the models are pretty ropey in the looks department, and do not appear straight at all. It's not as glossy as, say Fratpad or Fraternity Boys, but the quality of the action and the raw feel to the scenes are far superior.
The downside is, apart from it being DRM, that there have been very few uploads. It is a relatively new site, and I only subscribed for a month, so hopefully this will improve. I also feel this site hasn't really been well marketed. I subscribe to a number of porn blogs and it hasn't had the exposure comparable sites have enjoyed. Perhaps as the uploads increase, this will change.
All in all, this is by far the best of the "frathouse" themed sites I've seen, but suffers from a lack of uploads. I'll probably re-subscribe in a couple of months when hopefully the content will have increased. But definitely well worth a look. |

I reviewed this a few months ago, and must admit I was disappointed. Very infrequent updates, and it didn't really seem to live up to its title of "public" hardcore. I've noticed there haven't been too many updates since I left the sire probably about 4 or 5 months ago. But interesting to see a different perspective.
It would be great if you wrote some more, lengthy reviews of gay sites, as there's a lack of gay reviewers here...

I suppose the regional pricing thing is down to personal opinion. I'm not too sure. With price in Sterling at least you know how much you're paying, but then again, if it stays in dollars, say, we could benefit from the exchange rate if it's favourable (as it is at the moment I believe).

I'd joined this site for a short while a year or two ago, and had rediscovered it, looking forward to re-joining. I must admit I've been disappointed.
The site is highly original, using about 20 different guys in their 20s and thirties. They're not especially good looking, but natural. The videos and photos are of an avant garde, indie nature, and the models look like they've come out of some trendy London or NY art warehouse.
The videos and pics are mainly solo, and are generally of masturbation or posing, with whacky costumes, makeup and props, all filmed with great music and with a handheld cam. The concept is great, content is original,and can be hot at times.
My problem isn't with the concept or the guys. In fact I was really looking forward to re-joining.
There seems to have been very few upgrades in the last year or so. There are 93 videos (generally of only around 5-10mins) and 117 picture sets. Only 15 of the vids seem to be downloadable though, a massive drawback.
The site feels rough and homemade, which fits in with the arty feel, but that shouldn't detract from it being a user friendly site, and alas here it does.
There is no separate video and picture listing, so you have to open up a page and then see if there are pics or vids, or both. Only just over half of the picture sets have slideshows, so you have to thumb through pics one by one, and it's very difficult to go back to a picture you like, and many of the photo sets aren't available as zip files.
There doesn't appear to be any videos or pics of HD quality, and the earlier videos/pics do appear a bit grainy.
Regional pricing helps, and it costs £16.22 for the first month, £14.75 for subsequent months. Considering there are only a minority of downloadable videos, I find this a little steep, but still no too expensive.
This site has the potential to be excellent, and is a refreshing change from sites like RandyBlue.com or EnglishLads.com (as much as i adore these sites). It's off the wall, erotic, perhaps, rather than sexy and it's refreshing to see original ideas and photography. The guys have natural bodies - most on the slimmer side - and aren't clipped, waxed and toned like so many of the US porn sites.
All in all, this would be good for a brief look, if you're not expecting bulging biceps and hardcore fucking, and are into the indie, contemporary arts feels. But due to the above faults and infrequent uploads, wouldn't recommend a lengthy subscription. |
