Cross sell promotions, i think, is just a cash grab hoping to mislead customers into thinking they are getting a good deal for a trial membership when in fact they lead you to a very limited and non downloadable site. Yeah sure there are a few good cross-sell offers but they should have them all unchecked and left to the customers descision. Don't forget the customer is paying so he should have that option not the company offering the cross-sell.
