As long as they maintain that option I will be happy. I apologize for my ranting about VB3 when all I had to do was delete the cookie. I thought the change was being forced on users. I am probably not alone in this confusion. I just logged in, and there it was. I am sure the largely negative reaction from users was one reason. Now VB3 is back. From my point of view, VB3 still sucks. Some reviewers have pointed out a few advantages of VB3. For example, more niches make it easier to find videos of specific interest. Nevertheless, here is why I do not like VB3. I took a standard operation that I go through almost every time I access the site. It took 7 mouse movements and clicks under the old interface and 28 mouse movements and clicks under VB3. That means it is four times the work to get to what I am looking for. A second seemingly minor but very real frustration is that the pop-up floating windows often block the link I want to click. One has to back up and try to approach the link from a different direction to avoid triggering a floating window. Mouse-over pop-up windows may be the latest cool thing in web programming, but they are a pain in the ass for most users. The new VB3 is a slight improvement over the old VB3, but I still prefer the pre-VB3 interface and would like the option of continuing to use it. At least one other reviewer commented that the quality was going down. With so many DVD's, (5 new every day at 5:00 AM PT), there will be some good and some bad. Also, VB tries to have something for everyone. In my case, only one or two videos per week interest me. That is a sufficient number to justify the $15 monthly cost. 03-30-11  08:03am Replies (2) Comment 105 VideoBox (0) VB is no longer the site it was/Edit 04.21 VB changed its format and its content quality has suffered. Five updates are offered at once but the updates rarely change by production companies. Content of said videos has fallen dramatically. VB appears to have substituted bargain basement vids for quality, and by that I mean attractiveness of "actors/actresses", action and plain old good pornography. It's cheap production, unattractive sex has made it less than desireable. It continues its downward spiral. Studios such as Private, Harmony, H2 are no longer posted. Nice, even though I still wish for more MILF material. 03-12-11  12:37pm Replies (4) Comment 107 VideoBox (0) Still about VB3 I've seen the pros and cons below my comment and can understand a certain reluctance to accept such a dramatic change, but after my first negative reaction I must say that after taking some time to get used to the new way of doing things I like VB3. As exotics pointed out there are more niches to pick from and things can really be fine-tuned to a point where you get (mostly .. there's still the odd mistake) exactly what your heart desires. It certainly encourages lengthy browsing, something I normally don't do, and just like exotics I have found, and downloaded, scenes I would have never looked at before version 3. I was tempted to stay with a listing of the DVDs rather than with the scenes but am starting to see the advantages of the latter. I also find the streaming impressive. I am not sure if they improved their flash player since last I was a member, but most scenes appear to play cleaner and clearer than I remember. I would still like to see more niche content but, as to VB3, I think it's nice once you get used to it. I wonder when we can expect "My VB3" to be functional? The old interface gave you large previews, was fast and easy to navigate. None of that is true with the new interface. I doubt I will ever join this site again, the new interface waste too much time and is too frustrating to use. Fortunately many of there competitors still use the older and much better interface. They will get my business from this point forward. New is often not better. 02-13-11  02:06pm Replies (4) Comment 109 VideoBox (0) Now I'm confused I wasn't too happy with my first glance at the new Videobox called VB3. After a few test runs on it, I actually like the new search engine in VB3 better than the one in the old version of VB. The big difference you will notice in the search engine is that the old search engine had roughly 40 niche categories, where as the new VB3 search engine has 112. Just off of basic searches, clicking a niche, I've found quite a few DVDs I hadn't seen on VB before. Also, if you're taking it for a test run be sure to sign in. For whatever reason, if you're signed into the old version then click to go to VB3, it doesn't automatically sign you in. Once signed in, most of the clutter is reduced. Where things get confusing is when you look at the top of the VB3 page, over to your right, a "channels" button. When you click this, you expect to see Evil Angel and Vivid, which I have subscriptions to both, but now there's two more channels. Those two new channels are Kink.com and RealityKings.com, both of these are in my favorite site groups so I'm of course going to click on them. The Reality Kings one only has 90 some scenes and the Kink one only has 70 some scenes. Now the confusion really comes in. You can stream 4 videos from these sites, called previews, but it looks to be full scene streams. There also is a choice to download the scenes. When I click download scene, a box pops up that asks if I want to subscribe to the channel. The Kink channel says they add 4 HD scenes per week. The Reality Kings channel says they add 1 new scene per day. It says my amount due to subscribe is $0 so I click subscribe and I receive a server error message. Most likely since my subscription has been canceled. So, I'm wondering if anyone knows the prices that these are going to be to subscribe to? I'm not for sure the Reality Kings one interests me that much since I join it every 3 months anyway and RK is a network so I could get all these scenes with a Reality Kings subscription. On the other hand, Kink isn't a network and requires you to join multiple sites to see the different niches they have, so that one would have some interest from me. I did a test join using another browser and neither are offered in the sign-up process like Vivid and Evil Angel are, so I'm guessing those are add-ons for members only. Anyone that has joined the Kink channel? Pros: Videobox has a good variety of newer and older movie clips available. There are different download speeds for the viewer to choose from, depending on their internet connection and application. The price is very good, less than a movie purchase!I enjoy the make your own clip option and also really like the ability to view the clip before I download. Cons: The site needs to break down the niches. The search was often inaccurate, especially if you checked pornstars. The video quality varied greatly from clip to clip. Bottom Line: A+. Recommended, inexpensive site to download clips from and build your dvd collection. The updates are still too heavily in favor of a younger crowd. Because they are the majority I cannot blame this site for catering to them, however, do you think the following statistic is fair to lovers of older women? GILF DVD updates according to their search engine: 12 in 2006, 8 in 2007, none in 2008, 1 in 2009, 1 in 2010, none so far in 2011! I am definitely feeling ignored. I bet the same could be said for other unusual niches. Many different types of content. Each scene has relevant and accurate keywords. Many download options. Cons: New interface has many bugs and is very difficult to use. In my opinion, they have ruined one of best sites on the net. Search feature no longer works correctly nullifying the benefit of the keywords. Bottom Line: Software engineers have this annoying desire to take something that works well and redo it so it no longer works. Their desire to add the latest "features" like floating windows that pop up unexpectedly in an irritating manner overrides the desire of the user for simplicity and ease of use. New versions always have bugs that require months or even years to fix. VideoBox had an excellent site with 5 new DVDs added per day. Unfortunately, they just redid their interface as VB3 and basically ruined the site. I hope they will come to their senses and go back to the old interface, or at least give users the option. I am not against improvements or new ideas, but VB3 is a giant step backwards in terms of usability. My rating drops from 95 to 70 because of VB3. That is how much I dislike it. VB is one of two sites to which I have been a continuous member for more than 2 yr. It saddens me greatly to see it ruined. I wonder if one could circumvent this kind of nonsense using a proxy server? What drives me crazy is their search engine or lack of an organized one. Tried for example Mckenzee Miles got overy 1,000 hits and only 5 actual videos of this broad. Does anyone know if VideoBox are still playing this evil trick? 10-17-10  06:37am Replies (8) Comment 120 VideoBox (0) Interesting findings I was going through the Vivid channel since I seem to find more there that I like than even on the VB main site and noticed a whole collection of "40 inch plus" DVDs. These, from the best I can tell are from the Reality Kings site, "40 Inch Plus". This is not really a bad thing. They have, one scene, that stood out to me on the Vivid channel in this series, Eva Angelina in a garage with a bald guy and motorcycle. On RK, the scene is split into parts and doesn't have a full video option. On Vivid it is the full version. You'll also find plenty of Viv Thomas DVDs now on VB. I'm pretty sure there are some from the site Super Glam too. Yesterday's updates saw the release of Shane's World DVD #1 which is going into a major improvement of downloading these scenes from the Shane's World site. Those Shane's World videos are often well-known porn stars early in their careers. The quality on VB, while not as good as I would like, is better than the quality on Shane's World. I'm somewhat surprised about just these findings since all of those sites listed above are/were "exclusive" sites. I think this practice, maybe 1 DVD per day from a previously exclusive site, would be a huge boost to VB since many of these, like Super Glam, were very poor video quality on their sites and at least get an upgrade in quality being released on DVDs to Videobox. There may be more of these, but these are the ones that I have noticed. 10-11-10  04:17pm Replies (3) Review 121 VideoBox (0) 75.0 Status: Current Member for less than 1 month (at the time of review). Pros: Over 8750 titles available as of today. Five daily updates. Excellent streaming. Excellent download speed. Reasonable price. Cons: Search is horrible, eg. search under "old" or "grannies" and you will get listings featuring teens etc. Most videos are grade B or worse. Not enough variety from one update to the other, it is mostly Gonzo style Porn that starts with the action rather than with a lead-in. Checking any given daily update shows a monotonous sameness among the five DVDs. Much Niche content is under-represented .. see monotonous sameness! Deception in many DVDs. Sometimes compilations are offered that only have one or two scenes that actually represent the action promised by the title. This goes for other DVD sites as well. Talking about titles and deception, frequently teens aren't teens and MILFs aren't MILFs. This would be the producers' fault rather than that of Videobox but they could be more discriminating when it comes to choosing the titles they will purchase, so they must bear part of the blame. Too many videos are blurred (soft rather than crisp) .. see Grade B videos. Bottom Line: Just like others I have to stress that this is not the first time I subscribe to this site and the obvious conclusion is that there must be something that keeps bringing me back. Sometimes I do wonder why, but still and all I would encourage anyone who is new to porn to subscribe. They will find a wealth of scenes they will like. For a newcomer there is even some nice niche material (hair, pregnant, mature, peeing, BDSM, transsexuals) they can download if they are interested in the off-beat. However, for anyone who has been a member on and off over the years the neglect of niches when it comes to the daily updates is regrettable and has to reduce the ratings given by them. That's why a newbie might give a 99 while I'm giving a 75. In my mind no higher score is justified at the moment. Together, newbies and veterans might give this site an average score that better represents its value than the 95 given by TBP. Pros: - It’s Videobox, dammit! - HUGE collection of DVDs - Probably the largest DVD site on the internet - Excellent value - Wide variety of material available - Premium (extra cost) channels are worth the price Cons: - Selects for quantity, not quality - Heavy reliance on European videos - A lot of Grade-B, C and D material - A lot of B/B/G scenes - Heavy reliance on compilations where the original is also available - Poor search function Bottom Line: Yes, I realize that this is probably the most reviewed site here at PU, and yes, I also realize that this is the third time I’ve reviewed this site, but I wanted to update my opinion of the site and I figured that a comment wouldn’t suffice. I also added the premium channels this time too. I’m a big fan of Videobox. I’ve had friends who’ve asked for recommendations on porn sites and I’ve sent them to VB. VB is an excellent way to build a large, good quality porn collection. It has enough variety to satisfy all but the most unusual tastes, though the search function (or lack thereof) makes finding what you want more difficult. A site this large needs a better means of searching. VB is big enough and well known enough that one bad review won’t hurt it. I’m still a fan, but less of a fan than I have been. The thing I think that is dragging VB down is, ironically, what is one of their big selling points: five updates a day. The problem with having five updates a day is that this emphasizes quantity over quality. When they’re putting five new DVDs up per day, every day, regardless of your tastes there will be an awful lot of crap being uploaded. To fill their daily quota VB relies heavily on European porn. I prefer American porn, but that’s not my motivating point here. There is good European porn and there is bad European porn. (Same with the U.S.) The problem is that VB seems to rely on more bad European stuff than good stuff. Take Private – they are (or at least used to be) a high-quality studio. I only learned that they also crank out complete crap thanks to VB. This is grade-B and C Private stuff. Another pet peeve of mine that is also caused by the daily update schedule is the use of a lot of compilation DVDs. The problem is that with many of the compilation DVDs VB has already posted the original. Luckily someone usually points out the duplication. But VB gets to count another update without really updating anything. On the plus side, VB has recently been adding older Seymore Butts titles. These are great to see again. They’ve also started adding some Diabolic titles too. There aren’t many up yet, but these certainly move the quality balance in the right direction. For the first time, I also added the ‘premium’ channels. These really add to the value of the membership now that they are bundled for the fee. They are a bit pricey, but they do offer good value with both channels having just under 400 titles posted now. A new title gets added to each channel every two or three days. Is VB still a great value? Definitely. But they should modify their business model now that their so far ahead of the competition and focus on quality rather than quantity. What am I doing wrong because I certainly don't get Maggie's sharp DVD quality when I look at the scenes I download? Some are nice and clear (except in full window) but most are below my acceptable standard even with the high bit rates. And, yes, I am subscribing to the DVD quality level. I also find that large daily updates don't mean a thing if they all basically feature the same sort of action. Niche content is being sadly neglected. I noticed it costs only couple of euros extra per month to get those extra videos but there is no long term, non recurring, special price subscription that includes them. Vivid is probably "meh" to me but I recon Evil Angel has some good stuff. Are they actually adding the latest material from those studios or just randoms from their old material?
