Porn Threads Get Top Billing!

The focus has been and will continue to be on the adult industry, including sites, content and performers. So forum threads related to porn will be pinned to the top of the site in order to push non-porn threads further down. Their creators will potentially earn entries into our raffle, while non-adult threads will not be eligible.

Warning: Preapproved & Uncensored Threads!

There will always be members of our community that feel like talking about other topics. Some issues like politics and religion can be more controversial than pornography. However, censorship runs counterintuitive to a site, like Porn Users, that encourages people to openly discuss adult content.

So unless something is offensive in no uncertain terms (i.e. racist, sexist, homophobic or a personal attack), we leave it to our members to choose to read or not read specific channels. And by pining porn threads on top, we hope you won't even have to scroll past some other taboo topic you hate to discuss.

Points & Badges Not Tracked

Why am I missing points and/or badges?

This question pops up repeatedly even from legacy members who may know their Porn Users history better than even current staff members.

The simple answer is:

Points and badges are broken with no fix planned!

Did they ever work?

Presumably judging by the stats of some senior Porn User members with long-established legacies, the system worked perfectly well at one point. There is no way to zero out existing points, but badges have been disabled.

They stopped functioning correctly about five years ago when The Best Porn and Porn Users transferred ownership to the team at Rabbits Reviews.

What caused this glitch in the matrix?

Legend has it that the mysterious disappearance of the points and badges functionality is because a chunk of administrative software was housed on someone's personal computer buried deep inside their basement.

Just like the appliances aren't always included when you buy a new house, this individual PC was part of the sale. The Rabbit's development team did their best to preserve as much functionality as they could, but some features were irrevocably lost.

Unfortunately, there aren't the resources or the time available to start from scratch on these functions. And it seems they won't be available any time in the foreseeable future - no matter how many times an admin asks or even begs for it to be fixed.

The original administrator of PU, Khan, was a self-taught programmer who had been working online back before the internet was the internet or world wide web.

The entire site was nearly automated (points, badges, raffle tickets). Some examples:
When a member posted a review, Khan would either rate it excellent (2 points), good (1 point) or not acceptable (0 points). Just by clicking excellent, good or not acceptable the system knew how many points to credit to the reviewer and those points were tied directly to the raffle tickets. An excellent review received 3 (up to 10 per week)tickets, good received 1 ticket.

It was all set off by his action of grading the review. We also received 1 ticket per approved site comment (2 max per week) and 1 ticket for the first 5 replies left to others, 1 ticket for giving 5 trust votes per week.

That's where the complexity came in. The badges. I don't remember how many we had or could have so I will say 10. If a member did any of the above actions including just giving 5 trust votes, it activated their badges and you received 1 ticket per badge.

Khan had to do no work other than grading reviews and approving comments and replies.

The site was so precise in its count of points and. tickets there was a page that updated every members odds of winning the raffle that week. In the earliest days of the raffle we only had 3-5 members that were even eligible. You had to have 10 points to even be eligible and Khan was tough enough grader of reviews that he once hit me with three "good" grades in a row. There was animosity created as 40-50 members sat around trying to become eligible while the same 3-5 members won the raffle every week. I remember one member having 21 reviews and only 9 points. He had been trying for a year to become eligible.

It was all so automated the raffle would automatically draw itself at noon EST every Tuesday.

Something happened in 2011-2012, either a hacker or DDos and it screwed everything up so Khan went in and programmed everything as well as he could. I don't know if you know, but he unexpectedly passed away. Seems like he was posting and joking around with us one week and came up sick, then the thread about him passing away followed.

Sometimes when you see members like me getting a little upset or frustrated that's why. Khan was a close, personal friend of mine, on PU and away from it. The community here was one of the proudest accomplishments of his career. There's a brief history of PU.

Thank you for taking the time to post this. Even though it's been a while I am sorry for your loss. I now see why you guys get so upset and frustrated as this site is basically a functioning memorial/shrine to your friend Kahn.
