I would say that is very subjective to the body being painted. I'm not trying to be an ass and point out the obvious gender-neutrality of the term "body painting" but rather I think that body painting is used most successfully in softcore glamour photography.
Combined with interesting lighting to throw shadows, I find that body painting can be great with very fit models with visible musculature that is accented by the shadow play and intermixed with the painted designs. Also female models blessed with long nipples really look great with full body painting as it instantly points out (har. har.) that the model is nude and the design was painted on.
However, if the body painting is done messily as in models applying paint to each other or the sort of lack-luster designs people use at raves or what not - then I'm not really interested beyond the standard "hey - that person's naked!" response.
Cheers.

Body painting to me is a turn on if I'm close to the actual painted subject (has to be a woman, mind you), but photos and videos of it being done and even the results, such as a model strutting it around on the streets of Prague or Budapest, just doesn't do a lot for me. Why, I just don't know.
ALS Scans occasionally features body painting. They tried to get Susana Spears for some regular shoots but her schedule didn't allow it, but a body painting scene was somehow feasible. I thought, "Oh, well, that's too bad." Picky picky picky.

Like any artistic painting, the answer is "it depends." There is good art and then lots of very bad art.
I've seen some very sexy stuff and other stuff that just distracts from an otherwise beautiful body. On the whole, I'd say 90% of what I've seen is "bad art" getting in the way of feminine beauty.
Did anyone tell you I'm often an "it depends" kind of guy?

To each is own I guess, but where's the appeal in looking at a naked woman who's disguising the fact that she's nude by wearing body paint??? I'd much rather see her in lingirie that reveals her body through the material.

I'm just not turned on by anything liquid on a lady, even just being wet...I like a dry, but soft, skinned woman.

REPLY TO #6 - SnowDude :
You know, with photos and videos, I'm almost exactly the same way. A light coating of water or oil is OK, but I can live without.
"Fuckin' idiots." Countless times my computer monitor has been assailed with those words. Why? Everything is perfect -- the girl, her aroused and beckoning expression, the fullness in orientation of her splendid ass, the lighting, the completeness (no cropping off the head, arms, or ass, and no garish tatooing) -- except for one thing: there's H2O gushing down her ass, or it's got sand/suds/Sarah Lee all over it, or a daisy is sticking out of it, etc.
Of course it would be silly of me to expect things to always go just the way I want them to, but honestly, when they don't, they don't. Being long-term porn consumers, we tend to hone our preferences, I think. In a way, I almost feel cursed by knowing exactly what I want.
And I'm with you in having a strong preference for beautiful soft, clear skin, nothing added. That's what my money is aimed at.

Man, I loved that Susana Spears body painting stuff - what a gorgeous woman! It was great to see her having such a good time, since she's usually shown as being quite somber.
