Denner (0) Weird, man, weird.
Why should I consider myself a pervert?
I dig good and honest porn - soft or hc.
Whereas abuse, childporn or anything that can hurt other people I'll fight anytime.
This is 2008 - and like it or not - ordinary porn is a part of life for a lot of people (at least in the western world) - for better or worse.
Porn might even prevent sexual abuse (not regarding the good and intelligent people at PU, of course).
So: NO!

Toadsith (0) Meh - it all depends on who is applying the label. A "Pervert" being someone whose behavior or interests are perverted or corrupted from the norm - so by definition I can't consider myself a pervert as I am my template for determining normalcy. As for others labeling me as pervert - some may, some may not.

malikstarks (0) Not to get too political, but I believe western culture (divorce industry etc, family courts, etc.) has pushed men away from women and towards alternatives like porn. I have not been a victim but the casualties and horror stories are all around us. Therefore I enjoy porn and am not ashamed, if someone wishes to label me a pervert, have at it.

Agree - but a lot have to do with both politics - and culture.
It all comes down to freedom of choice.
Who in their right mind would want to live in a society where some fanatic leaders could have your hands hacked off for watching porn or your head for having a sip of whiskey.

Sure, porn has some disadvantage in the way malikstarks mentions - but it's still a freedom of choice.
And really! Married men or men with steady girlfriends and so on have allways looked at other women/girls - and vice versa. And that's both before and after the thrill is gone....

I really know what malikstarks is talking about. I know the US for sure is a strange place now to attempt a meaningful and long-lasting marital and even family relationships, thanks to the estrangement brought on by the legal system, feminism, and the media. We have seen how the road to hell can be paved with good intentions, when it's not just rank prejudice and selfishness.

Loves violence but is afraid of sex. Accepts graphic depictions of brutal, cruel violence as the norm but treats non-violent explicit sex as taboo. I think that's pretty perverted.

Thinking of it that way, I think the whole of American society is at least as perverted as I am.

I answered "No."

Goldfish (0) Porn is not against my morals so I don't consider myself a pervert.

I think in this day and age porn is more acceptable to the public at large. There is still a substantial part of society that has serious issues with the exhibition of sex. I'll bet these fine folks consider me a pervert.

pat362 (0) I do on some level think that watching porn is somewhat perverted. The fact that it's more prevelent or common today does not change that. Afterall, I am watching a girl half my age being sodomized by a guy older than her father. Maybe it's just me but that isn't necessarilly the kind of thing i'd discuss at a party or the next day at the office. That said I don't have a desire to abuse children, rape women. I still feel empathy & sadness when I read about all the crap being done to people. Be they children, women or men.

PinkPanther (0) Not to get political or anything, but to me the perverts of the world are the people that do evil shit, people that operate or support or protect death squads, the people that torture or force other people to commit torture - those are the perverts of the world. Child molesters, rapists, wife-beaters - they're all perverts in my mind.

I'm just slightly twisted.

Thank you, you elaborated a bit more than I felt comfortable on a site like this, but you are exactly right. Denner brought up the point that living in a free society is better than the alternative and I would also agree with that, but in my opinion neither is anything close to ideal, and both cultures will eventually lead to societal decline. So while I enjoy porn I do not believe that it is by itself the ideal form of sexual fullfilment, I probably would prefer to have a wife and a traditional family (even if like most women my wife would probalbly hate porn, thinking it degrading to women).

However I have seen too many good men brought to their knees both emotionally and financially in the culture/society we are a part of. The meteoric rise of the adult industry, (which now dwarfs all other forms of entertainment in earning power) coupled with the continuing decline in the number of traditional marriages underscores that there is a problem. This may not be the place to discuss it though, so I will leave it at that.

I respect your opinion pat but I have to disagree with associating legal, legitimate porn with child abuse and rape. That's one of the huge problems with sexual expression in our society today -- people automatically associate it with something bad as you did.

When you talk about your favorite restaurant do you have to throw out a disclaimer that you are not obese or anorexic? Of course not. Plenty of people enjoy erotic media in a healthy way alone or with others.

If society had a healthier view of porn and sexuality in general I bet you would talk about it more openly.

Davit (0) I think I might be a pervert, given that I love to see lesbians licking each other's pussies and aresholes, etc, etc.

In the true sense of the word 'perverted', I am perverted by images I have seen, so that something I would have 'naturally' found attractive is now kicked into second place by something that is 'unnatural' in the real sense. In other words, if it weren't for DVD/internet images, there's no way in my life I would be subject to such images in the natural world.

But by the same token, you could say most of modern life is 'unnatural' and that we're all 'perverted' in one way or another, not necessarily sexually. There's hardly anything 'natural' about modern life anymore anyway.

Do I feel guilty about my obsession (for that is what it is becoming)? Yes, definitely, because it is at odds with the accepted norms of the society I live in. It also surely has an affect on my relationship with my girlfriend (who does not even know I watch porn) as it surely influences my sexual behaviour. How could it not! And a large part of me suspects my life might be more fulfilled without porn, as I would fill my time in more meaningful ways. But I'm hooked, just as I am with cigarettes, so until I decide to bite the bullet and go cold turkey or whatever, I'll continue to watch it and get my 'fix'.

But the bottom line is - I know I'm still an decent honest guy who wouldn't harm a fly. There are so-called 'clean living' guys out there that would never watch porn but are nasty evil bastards. So on balance, I'm probably doing ok!

The fact that a person feels guilty at all, is actually a good sign in my opinion, not something to be denied - it means we have sensitivities, and worry about our actions and how we live our lives. A person devoid of guilt is a person that doesn't care for himself or others.
Yes, guilt can destroy a person if it is too deep or not dealt with - but it also guides us in a positive way - it's our conscience talking to us.

I'll shut up now! :)

RagingBuddhist (Disabled) The dictionary says that a pervert is "one who practices sexual perversion". And perversion is described as "any of various means of obtaining sexual gratification that are generally regarded as being abnormal". That never sat right with me. To me, it reeks of the inhibitions and condemnation imposed on us by religious dogma and THAT, I've found, almost always contradicts human nature. By their definition, I'm abnormal because I might find pleasure in something most people don't.

As an obvious example, I'll use what's united us all here - the viewing of pornography. A look at almost any study of human sexuality will tell you that men are decidedly more visually stimulated than women and I think most would agree that that's why pornography came into existence. So who's to judge and then label someone for what excites them? And, at what point would one reach the level of "pervert"? Somewhere between having good old-fashioned, man on top, get-it-over-with-quick sex and watching, say, a woman covered in lima beans, while crawling on an anthill with a feather duster in her ass, is a line between "normal" and "abnormal"?

Well... based on the doctrines of organized religion, I guess I am abnormal, and therefore, a pervert. (And, no, the anthill thing really isn't my thing.) But, since I'm free of the blind adherence to the mystical rules of any religion, I say, "No! I'm human. I find my pleasure where I find it. You're free to disagree with me, but that doesn't change anything."

All that to say, simply, I'm not a pervert.

pat362 (0) REPLY TO #15 - Goldfish :

I hope I didn't sound like I was equating watching porn with becoming a sexual predator. I don't think that watching porn leads to violence or sexual abuse of women and children. I believe that main stream media be it TV, radio, or magazines is far guiltier than porn can ever be on that subject. Afterall is there anyone in America who hasn't seen or read about Britney Spears V...a??? or heard about her pregnant 16 yrs old sister. That said, I still don't think that porn will ever be accepted. Anymore than I think prostituion is ever going to be accepted. I don't equate the two, but they are both based on sex. I wish that society could have a healthier view of porn, but porn isn't making it easy. We are talking about an industry riddled with drug abuse, std's of all kind, suicides. I don't know about you, but that makes it a little harder to show the good sides.

JBDICK (0) Why are we getting all deep on this topic.

Yes, I am a pervert. All that means is I like to watch Porn, fantasize about the sexy girls doing their thing...wishing it was my dick they were squeezing, or stuffing inside them...

I've seen people down the Car Dealerships on the weekends, walking aroud, stroking car bonets and sitting in the seats, reading the datasheets, basically drooling all over the flash new sexy beast of a car they can't have...Perverts...all of them.

My definition of a Pervert is someone who wants to do something that may offend other people if they did it in public...like jacking off...so they invent something like trhe internet and hey presto, all the perverts in this world can satisfy themselves now...

I remember in school, long time ago, we caught this kid in the sports shed with a copy of a motorbike centrefold out jacking off...the thing is there was no girl in the picture, just the bike...now that's a really sick pervert...

I'm just a a good old fashioned Pervert myself...bikes and cars don't cut it for me, just sexy girls...with tight bodies...PERV PERV PERV and I love it...
