Personally I HATE obsession with higher bitrates, ESPECIALLY when increasing them does NOT lead to higher quality. And unfortunately it happens all the time - if somebody makes 1980x1080 6MBit/s encoding out of DVD-quality source, it (surprise, surprise) won't become any better that original (in fact, it will be substantially worse because of resizing). For me for DVD-like stuff 1-2Mbit/s is optimal, HD 1980x1080 of 3-6MBit/s is fine too, but to warrant this increase, it must be REALLY REALLY clear, without blur.

I hate it when they encode poor quality vids with high bitrates, that result in huge files that look like crap. Some sites take old stuff shot on tape and then copied to DVD from a vhs copy of the tape, and then they rip it in HD quality. What a waste.
If I'm going to download a video bigger than 500 MB, it better look super clear and fantastic.

Storage is incredibly cheap and the numbers, I agree, don't always mean quality, but I am sure getting pickier and pickier about a "quality look" to videos. Old stuff is seldom good enough for a spoiled kid like me.

I can't stand that some sites still offer old 1980/1990's TV quality video (or less)! It's 2009, everything should be DVD minimum now. Some things are going 720p HD and even few sites have gone 1080i HD. I still see sites offering new content at some 500 times whatever resolution at 400-700kbs using an encoder version circa 1980. What is that? With the ever-dropping price of bandwidth and storage today everything should be DVD-quality (720x480, ~3000-5000kbs -- depending on encoder) minimum.

Though I do like good quality images, a 1 Gb file of 20 minutes of footage is insane. Even though external drives are pretty cheap and large, with filesizes like that, I need to buy a new drive every few weeks.
As long as drives with 100 Tb are not for sale yet, I prefer average quality over HD.

I don't understand all the options in the poll - I'm thick sometimes - so I picked other. I'm a simple man. If it looks good and plays back well, I'm happy. ALS Scan and InFocusGirls and the 21st Sextury sites are among those doing it right. ZTOD is among those that need to tweak their approach. Now that I've got a DVD burner, I just burn my largest files to DVD and download more, so the size is not a problem.

That's me. Exactly. Three or four years ago I was ok with almost anything just so long as it displayed what I wanted...plenty of PTA*.
Now, however, where the quality is so good even a gynecologist would be happy, and with a brand new Seagate 1.5 Tb hard drive ($129.99 + tax) joining my 640Gb, and two 500Gb hard drives, I'm like Jay, am totally spoiled. When I watch some of the older stuff that I used to watch over and over, I only wish it could be upgraded in quality.
The real question is, what's next? I can't imagine better quality than is now available. Maybe smell-o-vision or a form of 3-D?

Smell-o-vision or 3-D sound cool, but if you think about how they would apply to a lot of porn you might wish otherwise. There have been quite a few videos where I thought "it's probably good I can't smell the action, only see and hear it."
3D is making its way into some big Hollywood blockbusters but it is still a gimmick designed to generate a bigger profit with every ticket sold, not a genuine attempt to increase quality.
It would be nice if they tried to eventually increase quality beyond HD (higher definition? super high definition?) but people would probably have to own bigger displays and possess strong vision in order to even tell the difference.

I think the adult industry online has their heads up their ass the last year.
Every poll I read anywhere says tell the guys to shut the fuck up. So now I get to see Mr. Cockman in HiDef talking his head off.
I love what some have done with HiDef and keeping the files to a min. However they cut allot out .
Anyone else notice the days of undress , or tearing off the clothes is edited out for time.
What has the country come to when we are editing porn to fit a time niche.
The problem isnt the size or bitrate, its the crap we get when we download 500mb and spend YAWN, listing to a guy talk the worse acting we can see.
Bottom line I have a 10mb connection so I could give a crap about size of file, but they churning out pf crap amazes me.
This shrinking of content is present in lez and solo as well, example she is dancing around and walla naked HUH?
Or two hot chick start caressing and walla there naked.
OH well perhaps its just me but if I want to just watch two animals screw i'll go to the Zoo, give me some quality ppl enough is enough of just crap.
Next poll I will try not to hold back and let everyone know how I really feel :-)

I'm all for increasing the quality. Files are becoming huge of course, but I am not complaining about that.

I'm completely fine with it as long as they provide other quality types. Some hi quality, some mid and some low.

I say crank the motherfucker, past "10" all the way! Break all the dials!
That is, of course, unless the video techie has good material to work with and knows how to get the most with less in terms of bitrate.
Side notes: Just saw a HC vid of Rita Lovely, which she is, at KarupsHA in their new "high def." I was impressed.
And who knows if perhaps a visit to allhdreview might with worth a try. You know, a little on the side ...

Size matters. I don't have unlimited hard drive space, and it's hard enough searching thru one hard drive. I don't want to have to look thru 10 hard drives just to see a particular photo set or video.
So if you can increase quality without increasing file size, great. Otherwise, I really would like the file size to remain manageable.

I really don't care for the high definiton videos, I only watch videos on my computer. As long as the videos are not fuzzy, I really dont need to see every little detail crystal clear. 800mb for a 10 minute video is getting ridiculous I feel.
