Lap top, mainly because it travels with me when I need to be on the road. I don't keep any porn on the hard drive, though. All my collected stuff is on external hard drives.

Desk Top, because it is more upgradeable.

Desktop: Cheaper, more powerful, better and bigger monitor, more upgradeable, more storage, better interaction with externals and I use my desktop for VOIP phone service.

Laptops are incredibly handy but I prefer desktops; better keyboard, monitor, with lots of upgradeability.

I'd use a laptop if my worked required it but I'm pretty much in agreement with everybody elses reason why a desktop is much better.

Desktop, easier to use. I just got my first laptop, and trying to get used to the keyboard, the small screen (nice-sized for a laptop, but much smaller than a desktop size), the mousepad, etc. is driving me crazy.

I was just out of town for two weeks and was stuck using a laptop. They're great for their portability. But, along the lines of what lk2fireone said, the keyboard and mousepad are a pain to get used to. It was nice to get back home to the desktop.

Actually, while this poll is up, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to look for used laptops on line? I'm going to need one for occasional business and figure used would be cheaper than new (I don't need a lot, just some wifi and basic program capability).

I'd be leary of buying used electronics online, but I would still say to give your local craigslist a chance. That way you can check out the goods before you buy.

I've only had my new laptop for about 2 weeks now, but I still prefer to use a desktop if at all possible. A desktop is easier to use and more comfortable to use in many different ways. Maybe in a few years the ease of use of desktops and laptops might be more comparable, but for today's times, the desktop is much easier to use than a laptop.

I like a desk top more than a lap top.
