I've never seen a reasonable or usefull resize. It's always a damn full screen but not using the maximize funcition so one has to resize back manually.
If a special size/shape is needed, a better option is to open a new window.

Basically, I hate it, especially when it propogates to other windows I open afterwards, making me have to do the old "close all windows, open one, resize it manually, close it, and open again" trick. I wouldn't even have that one committed to memory if it weren't for those sites that help themselves to my browser window config.
I also hate sites that make the the window larger than the screen size. If they don't know how to write correct code for their visitors or members, they should just leave it alone.
Clue: The purpose of a window is to see through to all of something, not 80% of it.

Hate it - why does any site need to re-size your browser window? It's simply a bad habit for some...

Yup I hate it as well. I have no clue why they do it but I sure hope they would stop doing it.

Seriously, is there something wrong with my browser size. What makes them think that they know better than I do what size works?

death to any developer that does this. same league as pop-ups and opening new windows without asking you whether you want to.
not only bad habit, but bad usability practice.

I see how almost everyone agrees that this sucks. Not much debate, really...why does any site need to mess with my browser is beyond me.

I'm running the NoScript addon in Firefox so a site cannot resize my browser or perform any other javascript trickery without me giving it permission. But yes it does annoy me which is a good reason to use NoScript :)

My screen rez is 1024x768 and I make no apologies. It's easier to read from, for one thing.
Was just over at American Kittens and they set their window size quite a bit wider, so you have to scroll across to see everything.
Any webmaster who doesn't have his or her head dipped in shit knows that you're supposed to accommodate various screen sizes. Basically, you write pages that will format well at different resolutions, so you generally make things flexible, not fixed.
I've seen people who get PAID to come up with this messy stuff. Then they're off to another job, and the unwitting client will eventually have to deal with it.

Hate it, hate it, hate!
Porn sites should not be concerned about the sizes of their customers'...browser windows. And if I really want to resize it (and I never do) then I'll do it myself. But it's not like browser window size matters anyways... ; - )
