I've used my card probably about 30 times over the past 2-3 years and never had a problem.

I don't use my credit card----I use a prepaid debit card, totally safe, and you don't even have to use your real name or address.

No, I've been lucky. But I have had the credit card company call me to check to make sure that they were valid online charges.

Credit cards are wonderful because, if you're careful, you can quickly dispute any false charges. Porn sites and dependable bill processing companies like CCBill are great at protecting information.
If they were not, they'd be killing the goose that lays several billion dollar golden eggs yearly. You're more likely to have your number stolen by a retail clerk at a local store than a dependable online company.
I've joined hundreds of sites over the years and never been ripped off by the credit card. However, I REALLY check carefully and have not joined a few tempting sites that don't use dependable processing companies like CCBill. I independently check the biller's website (not the porn site link) before I try a new billing company to see if it is responsive to "support."

I use a different approach. I have a single card I used just for joining sites and had the issuer reset the limit to just $80.00. (That's my monthly budget for this stuff.)
I track the account online and whenever a charge its the account, I'll pay it with an online payment from my bank.
It keeps everything simple and makes life easy when a site bills me after a cancellation. (Happens, but not often.)
If my card number is compromised (hasn't been yet), the perp will hit the $80 wall very quickly.

I've used my credit cards many times and not one problem ever, except for forgetting to cancel the rebill. Of course that was my fault.

Fortunately not. I'm very careful though, only joining sites with good reviews here and at TBP.
Also they have to use a commendable billing provider like CCBill etc.

I haven't had any problems, but I try to stick with sites that use reputable billing companies. I think it can be a real issue though and can have dire consequences. I think the pre-paid debit card approach is a good idea that I hadn't thought of.
