shady rebill terms...beware

I've been thru it today with canceling the rebill on this site. I ended up having to cancel my credit card to prevent them from billing one more time after i canceled. Here's how the scam works. You have to cancel the rebill GIVING THEM A 30 DAY NOTICE, if not they will ding your card one more time, THEN cancel the rebill. So in other words, if it takes you more than ONE DAY to decide you dont like the site, you havnt given them 30 days notice, so they ding your card, THEN, they cancel. This is an outrageous practice, and it needs to stop. here is a bit of what they responded with to my complaint...
Hi

All cancellations are processed as per the terms and conditions you agreed to when joining, you ticked the box to say you had read and accepted the terms before completing your purchase. These clearly stated the required notice to cancellation your subscription was 30 days from your next payment date, hence you have one final payment due as per the terms of the agreement you entered into.

Many Thanks
Adam

and.....

Hi

There are no prechecked boxes on the sign up form and you have plenty of opportunity to cancel you join request before agreeing to the terms. You proactively checked the box to say you had read them and were happy to proceed.

We also off a trial option so users can try the service before commiting to a subscription, in this case you elected to commit to the subscription straight away at your own discretion.

We have at all times acted in accordance with the agreement you entered into in full posession of the terms of the agreement

Many Thanks
Adam

I love how he says plenty of time, when in fact, in order to give them 30 days notice, you would've had to make your decision in about a day to prevent them from billing you again.

This is outrageous....beware...

Marcus (0) Wow, thank you for the heads-up.

Yes, it's explained in the terms and conditions, but that doesn't mean it's right or fair. It's clearly there to trick customers so that they end up paying for an extra months membership they don't want. There's no other reason for it, and no other website I've joined does this.

I never join websites with business practices like that because I'm sure that's not the only time the webmaster will try and catch you out, and to me, that's all it amounts to.

y/w marcus, I was so pissed at not only this unethical practice, but there arrogant attitude, that i felt I had to warn others. Porn sites need to either stop trying to trick us into paying more than we should, or go out of business.

elephant (0) Wow, thanks for the warning, that is the worse case of customer service too, just saying well you should of read the terms, no one would expect such a term to exist, contact them within 30 days, madness and total rip off, that type of behavior certainly won't get you a successful business in the long term, I'll stay far away from this site , cheers

your welcome elephant, I've been sending the reaction to this post to Adam, the guy who responded to my complaint. So far there have been two who have commented, which means that many more have at least read it. It really is an outrageous, underhanded practice that finagles its way into extracting an extra payment AFTER your intent is to cancel.
This is one of the responses I sent back to him:

well Adam, as long as you feel that's it's OK for your customers to leave VERY unhappy, and feel as if we've been handled, then you go with that. As long as you feel that it's all on me, the paying costumer, and you have no obligation to make me, the customer, happy, then you go with that. And I'll do what I need to do. Which is to protect my financial interests. I have already canceled my card, and I will write a bad review of your site. Those are MY legal prerogatives.

Yours,

I have continued to stay on this because, quite frankly, I love porn. And porn should be free of trickery. This was also the last of him writing me back. But I will stay on this 'till they change, or I get bored. Have a nice day elephant.

Yeah you do right mate, golden rule is the customer is always right, well yeah they maybe a few exceptions to this but without people leaving happy and never returning and spreading the word about how badly they got treated , it can only do that business no good what so ever can it.
