With so much porn available on the net, why would I buy something I can't see, based only on verbal promises? Sites that skimp on their previews don't get any business from me. There are too many good sites available to spend time or money on a "pig in a poke."

As was discussed in the last poll about trial offers, the number of quality websites is growing rapidly. The webmaster of the site that is really good will do all it can to show the prospective member why he should sign up on his site. That includes a solid preview with samples as well as reasonable pricing.
As Jay G says, I no longer bother with sites that do a lousy job on previews because the message is like people looking for work; if you can't write a decent resume that sells yourself, you won't do any better on the job.

I love full thumb nails. The site should show what they have inside ,nothing more or less. That's the whole point of a preview isn't it?

I agree with Monahan. A site that allows you full thumb previews is a site proud of its content and confident those interested in its niche will be persuaded to join. It's only natural to be suspicious of a site that doesn't provide such a service to potential customers.

I'm more a video, so I don't care at all.

One thing that bugs me about videos is that I can't really tell what kind of action I'm going to see when there aren't thumbs of photos taken at the video shoot. I've passed up on a lot of video sites for this reason.
Would it matter to you whether there were such thumbs of videos in the visitor's area of a web site, or would a sample streaming video be enough?
Sorry that the question didn't specifically include videos, but that's due to the limitation on the length of the poll question.

It's important, but I could see myself joining a site without thumbs, especially if it's mostly a video site. That said, I'd be much more likely to join a site that included thumbs than one that didn't since good picture quality usually translates to good video quality.

Hi Drooler sorry for not replying sooner I was visiting a friend. I'm mostly a video website guy, but when it comes to a preview. I'll be honest and say I don't mind if it's in thumbs, video trailer or even a description of the action (like handsonhardcore.com). I'm like you in that if I can't get an idea of what the videos offer. I won't join the website. I haven't passed on many websites, because most have smarten up over the years, but there are still a few that I'd join if I could get a good idea of what exactly those videos look like.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've been wanting to see what people would say, as I think having thumbs for visitors is great. Euro-Pornstars and TeenDreams do, and even Domai has been doing a version recently.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if more site previews for visitors improve, at least to some extent, for both videos and photos.

One thing that annoys me about thumbs/stills in the preview page is that they don't always show all the action in the video. I'm not asking for dozensof thumbs. I'd much prefer a mixture of written info with some thumbs. This way I can read about the action, and I
can see the performers. The websites handled by kink.com are a good example.

The idea I had in mind was the same as yours: being able to know what all of the action is going to be. That should be the purpose of the thumbs, though you're right that they don't always show enough of the different kinds of action.
But I know from experience that the verbal descriptions may or may not tell me enough, either: "He takes her from behind in every possible position." No, he doesn't. And whether a combination of the written and pictorial will do things justice sounds good in theory, but there's no guarantee it will work out in practice.
At least you've found in kink.com a site that reads like it plays.
With thumbs of videos, I think an "every nth frame" rule of thumb (no pun intended) would work out best for even coverage. Besides, I wonder how many sites are run by people who don't have a good writer in English.

I agree with you that the purpose of thumbs is to give you a good
overall idea of the action in the video, and the written description should help clarify it a little more. I agree that written descriptions are sometimes vague, but I've noticed that the reason is sometimes because they know they can attract more people by lying.
I don't need a major story, but a description of the different action that is inside the video ie: straight sex, anal, dp, lesbian
and so on.

One more comment I'd like to add is about the arrangement of photos in galleries. I think of them as stories told in pictures, and much prefer that they be organized in a narrative sequence -- all the way to that very happy ending. ;)
Some sites have galleries with photos that are "randomized" so much that, say, #18 goes with #53, while #103 clearly goes before #8 and so on. I wish they wouldn't do that! Why do they even go to that kind of trouble? (If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.)
