williamj (0) When your busy viewing aka enjoying constantly having to authorize acesss is anoying. I ran across a site where you had to authorize every time you wanted to view the videos. It was a turn off and probablly a reason why I didn't re-up.

Drooler (Disabled) "Yes." If I expected a site to have content that I would be dying to see every day, then it would be "no," but that's never the case.

I generally log in to a "type-in only" site only about once a week and then catch up.

Really hate the additional logins for videos, etc. once I've already logged in already.

apoctom (0) I found that a password manager can fill in those forms, too. Given that, it doesn't take any longer to get access to the site, so I don't think about it.

Denner (0) I agree with williamj...
I'm a lazy bastard and hate all those extra log-ins in diffenrent forms. With both numbers and letters - most of the times you have to guess if a letter is capital or not.
What I like is my password-manager taking care of things, so I just have to click - once (and ok, maybe twice).
And yeah, sometimes I'm not up to going through all that jazz.. and skip that particular site.

SnowDude (0) I had this happen on only one site I've joined and found it damned annoying. In theory I think it's stupid to let that make you less likely to re-up for a site, but I have no doubt it did have an effect on my decision.

Drooler (Disabled) I have the password manager in IE fill out whatever forms it can. It's a program that I'm very grateful for.

But this poll is only about sites that REQUIRE TYPING in UN, PWD and a security code. The question makes that clear.

I have a bitch of a time with the ones on PixAndVideo and ClubSandy.

And some sites create the usernames and passwords for you, and some of those are like a big bowl of alphabet soup.

SimonScans is a prime example: that UN, PWD, and the security code ALL have to be carefully typed each time. Last time, it was a Saturday-only chore.

Monahan (0) While it's a PITA, it's also way overdone, in my opinion. If someone successfully accesses a site with a difficult UserID/Password combo, then what's the point in requiring repeated entries of the same UserID/Password...unless there's a known security hole in the site's access control protocol.

However, in network sites where access can be direct or via a network link, it makes sense to require reentry of a UserID/Password.

My answer, then, is that if it's a hot site that I enjoy, the access protocols are annoyances but do not alter my feeling about continuing as a member. If it's a borderline site, I'll probably drop out anyway regardless of the access controls employed.

Drooler (Disabled) Here I go explaining myself again. When I say "visit," I mean during a term of membership. I didn't mean that the login would have an effect on renewing membership.

But it's understandable that some people have interpreted the question that way.

Had there been more leeway in the permissable question length, I could have made the point clearer.

Any chance that the question lengths for these polls be increased?

PinkPanther (0) REPLY TO #7 - Drooler :

Absolutely - it's the 21st Sextury ones that are the biggest pains in the ass - and then they changed my password to one that I haven't been able to memorize in months, so I have to find the e-mail notification every freaking time I want to go in the site and copy and past, because it's long as hell - gwwwaaahhhh!!

LOL - needless to say, I don't go into that site as often as I otherwise would!

Drooler asked: "Any chance that the question lengths for these polls be increased?"

Sorry, not for the foreseeable future at least. We'd prefer to keep the questions short and sweet and to the point.

mbaya (Disabled) I find it annoying, but not enough to stop me. I usually download a lot in one session, so I don't log in very often anyway.

ramscrota (Suspended) Sites that insist on a code give me the shits. Usually they are difficult to decipher, and often these sites don't let you chose your own PW & UN in the first place. Worst of all are the sites that demand you to re-login after 5 minutes being idle, or 30m after previous login. The stupid ruprechts don't seem to realise that this kind of obsessiveness puts people off.
