The Roku 3 model says it's HDTV only.
The other, cheaper models of the Roku say they work with virtually any TV.
I'm surprised that the most expensive model only works with HDTVs.
Am I missing something? Why would they limit the most expensive model to HDTVs only, when the cheaper models work with most TVs?
I don't have a HDTV. So I assume the Roku 3 model would not work with my current TV.
Correct?
Also, since I don't have an HDTV, that means I can't play 720p or 1080p definition on my TV.
But I could watch those videos on my PC monitor, I assume, and get the 720p or 1080p definition effect.

Roku offers various models. The Roku3 is their latest and greatest, and most expensive model. But you can still get the cheaper Roku models if that's what you need. I'd read the box or check the web for compatibility with your TV. The free one VideoBox offers is the $59 priced model2. Roku is getting competition from Sony, Apple, and newer TV's, so if Roku doesn't offer what you need, maybe a competitor will.
Hope this helps!

Is it still only for people that subscribe for the full year, or are they allowing people who get shorter memberships to get one as well?

I just went to the website to find out and the offer isn't there anymore. That was fast.
