I picked 24 but I think that even 48 is acceptable but only in some instances. If you cannot access a site that is active then someone should get back to you within 24 hours. That does not mean that they have to have fixed your problem but that you are at least notified that they are working on it.
Now if the entire site is down then I think it is reasonable that it take longer to get back to their members since everyone is affected. That said. I would start to get very nervous if we are in the 72 hours and longer.

If someone is working on the site every day, 24 hours seems right (even if they're only checking things for an hour a day). If they aren't checking the site every day, they are most likely not checking the site on a regular basis at all....too often the case.
It seems not uncommon to put up a site and move on to other things, hoping the money will just come in by itself like a vending machine. But even vending machines need regular maintenance. A great site would hire someone to check it once a day and maintain good customer relations.

I give all internet people 24 hours, if I write them on the weekend I give until Monday as some managers are not there and if I have a issue they may not see it for a day or so and that the only exception.
Its my money and 24 hour is all I will allow period. Any later and I write them letting them know that was the last sale they will see from me. Why ? Because any business that is inundated with so much problems coming from all these customers that takes them days to get to me is not a company that is aware of me, or the severity of the lack of service the offer.
There are exception if I have dealt with them before and this was a fluke. But 24 is it after that i'm done with your ass. There are plenty of people who want my money. 24th Sextury was one that never did answer three of my emails and they lost a costumer for life for that poor service.
I am the guy that at a restaurant will leave you a 20 or 30 dollar tip if service was great. But I will never eat a restaurant in California that tacks on a tipn or any place that does. To that I say FUCK YOU. Its my money, give the service I pay for or Fuck Off ! I work hard for my money so don't want to hear they can take my money and give shitty service weather its a Restaurant or a internet company.
You want me to spend my money them give what you fucking said you would.
Hmm maybe I should say how I really feel :)

24 hours, although if it's not a problem with access etc, I wouldn't be too fussed if it was within 48 hours.

24 hours, although up to 48 hours if there are real problems. If they don't have enough staff to reply within 24 hours they have too many customers for their staff. If that's the case they need fewer customers, so I'll always help out and cancel my membership.

If I pay for a full month of access, I want a full month of access. If I wait 24 hours to get that access and my subscription is extended by one day, then I'm cool with that. Same deal with 48 hours, etc.
But if I'm down for any period and don't get an extension, then I want a 12 hour response.

I'm with the 24-48 crowd, so I said "48." Kinda like a missing person, this website issue. Chances of ever finding the webmaster diminish greatly once those full 48 hours have passed.

Depends on the site really... some of the smaller sites really are one-man operations so you can't expect quite such a fast response.
I put 48 hours, though I'd hope it would be faster.
It shouldn't take it as long as a week because a site shouldn't have so many problems that it has lots of complaint e-mails to deal with.

24h is reasonable but i would be more than fine with 12h responce times.
I have actually dealt with 1 month responce times and to me, it was totally unacceptable. You are not that busy that it takes a month to respond.
