I usually consider it for way more than a few days, sometimes weeks thinking of just how pissed I could be if I don't end up liking the site. It's a great way to feel relieved (in more ways than one...) when I end up actually enjoying a site.
But a good site can be like dating a pretty girl; looked amazing before you got involved, was pretty fun at first, then became boring and routine quickly thereafter, but hopefully not too weird or scary (or maybe it hopefully did, if some people are into that).
It's always at least partially impulse in the sense that I'm not thinking with just my brain. ;-)

I should also add that I'm pretty conservative in subscribing to a site and generally stay within my preferred genre--pretty women doing nasty things :-) --without ever really straying too far from that.

I 'consider' it, as long as you define consider as doing some research. I rely heavily, and in a lot of cases, entirely, on the information at TBP and PU. I'd like to say that TBP/PU have saved me money but they haven't. They've saved me from wasting money certainly, but now that I have so much more confidence when joining a site my porn budget has increased significantly.

When I was younger ID impulse buy, now I want quality and a good experience, I will take a month sometimes even more. I read reviews, see cost and content then maybe Purchase. I sign up for 1-10 ratio I am very picky and it can be 10+ sites before I pick one.

Occasionally on impulse, but I usually do a lot of research first. There are a couple of sites I know are hot as hell but were streaming-only, and I just won't join those sites.
So now even an "impulse" one will mean I have done at least basic research first, though I join the same day I discover it.

My genre is so sparse these days that it is seldom I consider a site worth joining.

I have to say mostly I act on impulse ..... especially if I haven't had anything going for awhile:
Exemplifying, lets say (metaphorically) I'm motoring along on cruise control until something I'm especially looking for has it's thumb out. And if the bearer of said thumb comes off as trustworthy, approvingly and/or passionately has what I want, as well as what I don't want, feels right, and among other things, like the cost belatedly and unexpectedly popping up in Euro-currency after commitment....... then I'll lastly act on my intuition as to whether sit on it, go for the plastic, or ride on down the road.

It really depends on the site but impulse buys are now rare for me because I got burned in the past and I'm more cautious. That and the fact that there are so few true new sites that it's really hard to impulse join any of them.

For most sites, it takes me damn near forever from the time I decide I might want to join a site to when I actually do it. My PU mate "turboshaft" summed it up better than I could, so read his post and you'll pretty much get my thoughts, as well.
I usually think,"This looks too good to be true..." I'm almost always afraid that the actual content will be nowhere as good as the previews (provided there are previews), that it will be something different than what is represented initially, or worse, I'll end up getting all kinds of pop-ups, spam or a nasty virus (some less-than-reputable sites can be pretty insidious at cutting through anti-virus and pop-up software).
There are exceptions, of course: I have no hesitation to join the big, well-established sites like, nubiles.net, DDFNetwork, 21Sextury. At one time or another, I've joined each of them without any second thoughts. Generally, if the site is well-known entity with a good reputation, I have no problem jumping right on board.
