Hopefully one of our members will jump in with some feedback, but in the meantime, I'll be glad to address your questions. :)
The trials are legitimate. They are full access trials, with the same benefits as regular membership.
Depending on the payment processor, you may be able to self cancel. If not, we have Support coverage 7 days a week, and we strive for timely responses.
There are a couple of other things you should know about our current trial system. First, though it does vary depending on which platform your membership processed through, your safest bet is to view it as a 24 hour trial as opposed to calendar days.
The other item I wanted to be clear on is that we do pre-authorize your card upon join. So if the terms of your trial are 1 day free, rebilling at $29.99, then when you sign up, your card is pre-authorized for that amount. If cancelled within the trial period, the hold on the funds is released. If you like the site, and want to continue (we hope that you will!)...then the pre-authorized amount will fully charge at the end of the trial period.

I just finished a year's sub at The Life Erotic - am just now pondering what combination of TLE and SexArt to subscribe to.
But while at TLE, I took a couple of trials (they were 2-day for existing members) and I had no problems downloading anything, or subsequently cancelling.
Further to the webmaster's reply here, I also found MetArt customer service to be responsive (very quick!) and helpful when asking about various subs options.

I did take a free trial to Sex Art via an email offer at the back end of 2012. I didn't encounter any download restrictions and was able to download everything I wanted within a couple of hours then cancelled. I had no problems cancelling since CCBill was the biller and I didn't have any problems with unexpected charges. I'm pretty sure you can trust those free trial offers for Sex Art or any of the Met Art group of sites.

I took advantage of one of those 1 day free memberships, and although there were some somewhat confusing offers to join other sites, if you are clever enough not to tick the boxes or not to click on the ads that you don't have to tick or click, and if you in fact cancel the membership before the day ends, you won't get charged for anything. And yes, you have complete access to their material and can download the pics and videos you like.

In my case, it was the Magik Sex trial that I took, and can assess what you say. Full trial, with no problems at all, and if you cancel within 24h you shall not get billed for the whole month.
They are now sending me emails with offers to join MetArt, but I do not mind -actually, I like it.
