Funny you should ask. I just did. And it's not the first time. There wasn't much time left on the membership, which expires probably tomorrow, and the site had already been changed to something so bad that the shutdown was just icing on the shitty cake.

I was sort of a member of the sites girl-e-girls.com and sweet-e-girls.com when they closed down. They were photography sites with French models from the early 2000's by a photographer who went by Rafik. I downloaded everything that I wanted in my month of membership, then cancelled. I noticed that they were rotating content, so I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get everything possible in that time. I tried to contact the webmaster about it, but I got no reply. Instead, when I re-visited the site to see the previews of the shoots that had rotated back in, I noticed that my login was still active. I double checked, and I was not getting any rebills, but the login just stayed active indefinitely. So I got to keep access for long enough for all of their shoots to rotate through, and then the sites went down.
I was also once a member of a site when they announced that they were forced to remove about 1/3 of their content, including most of their peeing shoots, by their payment processor Verotel and VISA. I was beyond upset for so much great porn to be taken down just a day before I would download it. The webmaster was unreachable. In one last ditch effort, I noticed that while the links to those shoots were gone from the site, the URLs were predictable for all of them, and I was able to get them all anyway because they were still on the server! There was a huge thrill to it that came from recovering something great that had been discarded and was otherwise fated to be lost.
The funny thing about porn is, you sometimes really don't know what you've got until it's gone. We've all seen posts here from users who tossed some VHS or DVDs or deleted content from some sites, only to regret it deeply later when that content is rare and unavailable anywhere.
It's a cliche among artists that works of art don't approach their fullest value until after the artist is dead. There will be no new works, and the number available to collectors will only decrease. It's too bad that the same isn't true of porn, and that there isn't an established marketplace where owners of content from sites that have closed can sell content at a large premium to dedicated collectors. I've taken it on myself to make this type of purchase a number of times, but I feel I'm largely alone in buying rare porn at a premium when your average guy just goes for the free stuff.

Nope. The two sites I downloaded in their final state right before closing happened purely by chance. I wish there were a way of knowing, like if sites had going out of business sales, but it's usually impossible to predict.
